Its kind of sad that the only thing I want for my birthday is to not see my Dad or his girlfriend all day.
Its even sadder that I know that there is zero chance of this happening.

He ambushed me with a party popper when I was leaving the bathroom. Fuck.
Nothing to note in particular but I found out that the Gew98 rear sights look fucking fantasy

Code do you still have a Tacoma? I was sitting passenger in my friend's standard tacoma and he was whipping that thing around down windy roads, it's an awesome little pickup, I can see why you like it :v:
If I ever get a truck, I think I'd want it to be a Tacoma or a truck similar in size. My dad has a Ford Super duty with a long bed and I've driven it but that's a bigass hauler.
I only like Gen 1 Tacoma's and here is a picture I took of mine tonight, actually.
I had to replace the clockspring but for a 12 year old truck it's in pretty good shape.

I like them for a lot of reasons. They're the last of the compact pickups. They don't make them this small anymore. It's got just enough clearance without being a huge Ford or Chevy or anything like that where you feel like you're about to clip every other car on the road. As for the 01-04 models they're the best looking ones in my opinion and I generally like Toyota's reliability. The new ones are too modern, which sounds weird but I much prefer clicking dials, buttons and old button CD radios to the new touch-screen shit where you can't manipulate any of it without taking your eyes off the road. So I'm less of a fan of the new Taco's because of their modernization and the fact they're gravitating toward bigger, wider vehicles.
If/when I get another car it's probably gonna be a tacoma. I drive a Mazda 3 right now and I love the thing but I want something with more clearance, offroad capability, and strength for carrying a bunch of shit(ie 4 airsofters and all their fuckton of gear)
Yeah, I don't know why everyone and their grandma thinks they need a big-ass, wide, 700 horsepower turbo diesel truck to do regular pickup stuff. The manufacturers are really catering to it too, with the newer F-150s, Sierras, Silverados, etc. IMO 99% of pickup owners don't need anything nearly that big. I've always thought the best pickups were the Tacoma, the Ranger, and the Frontier.

Also, found a used clothes shop in town today that sells some really rad shit at decent prices. Got a barely used genuine leather bomber jacket for $60. They also had a big box of vintage patches from industrial companies and the like for $0.50 each. They were the kind of patches you could sew onto anything and they'd look neat, so I picked up $5 worth.
They also had a pretty good selection of "hip" surplus stuff and surprisingly good prices. I'd expect a trendy shop to mark that kind of shit way up, but most of it was in good shape and still cheaper than at the surplus store. Almost picked up an East German wool coat, but it wasn't in my size.
I wish they still made Rangers but until then I'm not planning to upgrade beyond my 94 Ranger XLT, its paid off and since me and my dad completely redid the A/C system I have no major complaints with it.
The reason they stopped selling smaller trucks (at least the Ranger) is because evearyone bought the Range rinstead of an F-150 because it just made more sense, but Ford didn't make nearly as much profit off of Rangers so they consolidated their produciton down to just the f150 and shit
sorry im amped as fuck on caffeine shots and coffee studying for my vikings midterm while listening to vaguely norse themed power metal i cant be assed to revise im typing so fast holy shit

sigurd the dragonslayer was a descendant of odin, his father died trying to kill odin and shattered his sword. Sigurd was raised by a blacksmith who reforged said sword, which was used to kill a dragon. Sigurd ate the dragon heart and learned the speech of birds, which said to kill the blacksmith. so he did.
Also Loki, as a penalty for tricking the gods onetime, was bound with his sons entrails.
THIS SHIT IS SO FUCKING METAL DAMN
[editline]27th October 2014[/editline]
i clicked on the first page on accident and saw all those posts about trucks and got really confused and thought my post had not posted or something and that i was late or really early fuck me this is a lot of caffeine
Small trucks are simply the best. Rangers, Frontiers, Colorados, Tacomas are really the most practical trucks for an average person. Unless you work on a farm, ranch or do construction etc. you don't need a huge truck. My tiny bed has been more than enough to carry all the shit I've wanted to carry.

(RIP)
What I would love more than anything in the world is a Tacoma with a diesel engine so my MPG would be infinite. Too bad Gen 1 Tacoma's will slowly die out because of the frame-rust issues and stuff of that nature, maybe all the fans will keep them running longer but we'll see. I still see a decent amount on the roads, but good luck trying to buy one.
Also as manly and cool as big ass Ford/Chevy trucks are supposed to be with their giant tires, lift kits and ridiculous amount of horsepower I can go on TacomaWorld.com and find six or seven examples of expedition tacos and stuff that blow their sex appeal and usefulness out of the water:

Not to mention the guy who drives this probably doesn't give you the impression he beats his wife.
Add on the service they saw in Afghanistan and Iraq with SOF to their track record too. Even Toyota's next-step up from the Tacoma was smaller than most of these new trucks coming out. I'm talking of course about Gen 1 Tundras which I'm not a fan myself but they're much more reasonably sized for someone who needs a little extra to get the job done.
After watching matatus made from twenty-year-old Hiluxes carry entire extended families, hanging off every protrusion of the vehicle, I'm convinced that enormous American trucks are total overkill.

I believe the Hilux is acutally just the European version of the Tacoma
[editline]27th October 2014[/editline]
Check that, there are some functional differences. Tacoma is evidently the more comfortable, larger, but less durable "First world" version.
I'd kill for a Hilux. It's exactly as you say though. The Tacoma is the domesticated version of the Hilux.

Cue Ford commercial showing a farm guy loading the bed with 100,000lbs of hay.
In the future, I see everyone driving around in mining trucks. Gotta get some milk from the market, better take the ol' Caterpillar.
Finally, next semester I can start taking only history classes. Time for my GPA to fucking skyrocket.
any auto people know what type of car this is?

Looks like a kit car. And jesus tits the gun
It's not an Opel GT and it's not a Corvette C3, but it's in the same style as those.

mashes together two of possibly the most iconic close quarters weapons on earth
puts a 24x scope on top.
confirmed for "the kind of person that glues spikes to their gas masks"
looks pretty late 80s-early 90s

actually its probably a corvette c3 with no headlight covers
Looks damn close
EDIT:
found something that looks close to it.
[img]http://i.ytimg.com/vi/xZSUAWnwXUY/maxresdefault.jpg[/img]
Also the scoops on the side is what is questioning me.
The windows don't match up with the C3 though. It's especially evident by the back window. Unless it's just a majorly overhauled C3.
the more i look at it the less i think it's a corvette
it looks as if it has rear seats, and the hood cover is a completely different shape
could likely be a kit car based on the c3

Working at the library got really depressing, but still a service to my constituents.
Alot of the people who come in (Majority) are people without jobs or computers, they use the computers to apply for jobs. People come in use their 2 hour allotment to apply for jobs then ask us for more time, We give it to them no questions asked as long as their are plenty of computers to use (which generally there always is).
What really hit me hard is the amount of people who come in searching for food pantries and etc. It's really depressing. I try to help them out with whatever they may need and give them extra computer time but it's sad as fuck.
Recently returned from a hiking trip kinda glad I wore my jungle boots, they surprisingly held up pretty well for being the Rothco repro. Only thing that sucked is the trails were tagged up in spray paint, it was more enjoyable going off trail but we had to turn back after someone sprained their arm when crossing a creek. Probably going to hike to the Bridge to Nowhere next.

yeah well maybe they should actually just go to college with all the time and money they dont have THEN THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT IF THEY WORKED HARDER /s
the bootstrap ideology and the "yoou're not working hard enough" mentality are pants-on-head retarded and do not in the slightest reflect how hard most people work to even try to find a job
Or you can be like 90% of the current employees are Burlington Coat Factory who get hired with felonies and instead of just doing their job and getting paid and going home they decide to be as ignorant as possible, steal, vandalize and go AWOL from their job responsibilities on a whim.
Speaking of jobs I just applied for one as a photographer for a local ad agency. Wish me luck :v:
[editline]28th October 2014[/editline]
They're paying $9 an hour at 10 hours a week, which is great pay and the perfect number of hours for me as a full time student and already working as a photographer for the paper. Plus they give school breaks off, which means I can go home over Christmas.

I actually think that gun could look really cool. without the scope.
I think it was a good idea but could have been executed much better. Depending on where the gun feeds from I feel like there's too much dead space, like the barrel and shroud could have been moved back to make the gun look better
Lunch date with that girl got put off until thursday now. Oh well.
I'm feeling cute af
I love that feeling
