I got them about that age too, 16 or 17 :/ Smoking is bad, mkay!
I smoke and have steady hands at 19, do dexterity excercizes
I don't smoke and I've had shaky hands since like, ever.
Here's my great-grandfather's "Admiral" pocketwatch I found the other day (it needs repairs but I can't seem to open it)
how would you do the light rust like this one? [t]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gBLA3ARxbqQ/T5A72veHaNI/AAAAAAAAAxQ/WkhB04REllI/s1600/AxisHvyrocket.jpg[/t]
On the camo parts, that rust is as simple as stippling some brown paint, or dabbing a bit of brown paint on a toothbrush and gently flicking it to deposit small spots on the model. Stippling is the more practical technique, it's where you get a bit of paint on a brush (has to be an old brush, and one with a flat end), get most of it off with a paper towel, then gently stab the brush into the surface, producing a spotted effect.
or the striping [t]http://www.adpublishing.de/Dust_Walker_and_Squad.jpg[/t]
Either patience, or a masking solution (typically masking tape + masking fluid to seal it) and an airbrush.
what about the way it looks like mud is caked onto the walker on the left? [t]http://viewfromtheturret.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dw-jagdluther-mickey-prem.jpg[/t]
Mud like that is really easy, you just mix a bit of sand and PVA glue (white glue) and dab it onto the model, then paint dark brown and drybrush up to a lighter tone. I would do this at the same time as the bases, since that's sand and PVA as well.
also on tanks their armor will have what looks like a bunch of horizontal or vertical weld marks on it? like [t]http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumblarge_327/1225272787nJ2899.jpg[/t] what is the real life purpose of that and how is it replicated on a smooth model?
It's called Zimmerit and it's a coating the Germans used to try to prevent magnetic mines from sticking to the hull. I've never seen it replicated through paint, typically it's part of the model sculpt.
okay what is the difference between dry brushing and regular brushing? and i didnt mean the weathered edges, I mean the stripes. [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] also how much would an airbrush cost
When you paint normally, you mix the paint with water in a palette, then get a bit of paint on the end of the brush, dab it onto a paper towel to remove excess, and then gently brush it onto the model. The objective here is to make a single smooth coat, not necessarily perfect color coverage as it may take several coats, but the goal is to change the color of the area entirely. When you drybrush, you mix the paint with a minimal amount of water in a palette, then get a bit of paint on the end of the brush, rub it on a paper towel to remove as much paint as possible, and then lightly pass the brush over the area. The brush catches the raised areas, depositing the paint only on the high parts. If you're using a lighter color than the base tone, then it highlights the area. The problem with drybrushing is that it's messy, can be tricky to get right, and at best leaves a chalky texture to the paint. I only use drybrushing for weathering and metallics, otherwise I highlight by painting on highlights by hand followed (usually) by a wash to blend the colors and add shading. If you take a look at those ogres I posted, specifically the skin tones, you can see on some where I painted successive layers to shade and highlight (the light source, keep in mind, is behind the camera, not above the models). I didn't use any washes on their skin, instead I used another technique called dry blending to subtly combine the layers of differently colored paint. It's a more involved process but the results are a million times better than drybrushing. As for airbrushes, stay away from cheapo single-action kits. A single-action airbrush is a glorified spray gun with a tendency to clog up, and a decent dual-action airbrush plus a compressor typically runs $100-150.
I've always had really shaky hands. They've always ruined my dreams of getting into miniatures. =(
My hands shake like crazy for no reason. Just like with shooting, it doesn't matter how shaky you are if you can properly stabilize against something.

Not that there would be point with our 5 round mags though.

Okay, I'm up and feeling a little bit better. Had a weird dream though. A huge fucking hornet flew into my room (that actually happened once. I grabbed my WE 1911 and loaded it up so I could blam the bastard once it landed on something safe to shoot, thankfully it just found its way back outside), but all I had out this time was my M249 and M14. The dream was strangely realistic because right now all my batteries, my M4 and M14 are wired to Deans and the M249 is still wainting with tamiyas. So the only choice was the M14, I grabbed it and started the hunt. Then the dream becomes a little bit strange, because for some reason I had my old desk that had a long tunnel-like shelf in it, I often put loads of trash and random shit in it that I couldn't find a place for. The hornet flew right inside, so I took aim and started firing. I realized I was on semi auto, the hornet was grazed once and it got pissed and started heading towards me. I panicked, quickly changing to full auto and started fucking it up. For some reason my M14 sounded like a pulse rifle from Aliens and there was loads of green goo that was shooting out that little shelf, right onto my face. At least it wasn't corrosive.
