It's that goddamn character of his. Ever since he started developing it the reviews have been in a constant struggle with his acting to remain the central focus of his video.
Actually I've thought a lot about it and the Nostalgia Critic has a lot of traits commonly fond in bad reviewers. He just picks much better source material than the majority of reviewers do.
Also compared to the majority of the talentless hacks on his website he is a comedy god.
