My 2c on the situation, Earl is free and is rapping again, but for the sake of keeping things peaceful with his mother/etc, he's not associating himself with Odd Future right now. This has either been misunderstood by OF/Tyler (Tyler's tweets make it quite evident that he's unhappy with the situation), or Earl just hasn't been able to fully explain himself to them right now. It makes sense because with the type of program he went through in Samoa, to 'finish' the program he has to indicate that he has fully transformed and that there is no indication that he might return to his 'old ways' with OF and whatnot. He might have even contacted OF and told them the deal, and they're putting on an act to make it even more convincing.
Either that or he's just decided to go his own way and to not associate himself with Odd Future and their type of music anymore. It's clear he still has a wealth of talent and wants to express it, and similarly I'm sure he still respects what Tyler/OF are doing, but he may just not want that anymore.
Either way, he'll be 18 soon, and I think things will definitely start making more sense when that happens. In the end this is just a whole lot of speculation.

tbh it sounds like they thrust him in the studio, he recorded the song (which he probably wrote in ten minutes) and then they immediately put it out on the internet.
About the rumors:
Most of the rumors are coming from fans. Earl hasn't said anything about Odd Future yet. He dose say "Shouts to pigeons that I flew amongst" on the song and that sounds like he left O.F.
If you read the tweets Tylers been posting you would get the feeling hes upset about something and it's pretty odd that Earl hasn't said a thing even tho hes following Tyler on twitter.
Like I said before Tyler did say he wished OF could be as it started but someone isn't allowing it. He later said someone hated him and O.F. Before Earl posted the "Home" video Tyler tweeted
"Do Not, Kids I Repeat, Do Not Live Your Life Tryna Make Your Parents/Anyone Happy. DO WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT."
Hes talking about Earls mom. So I wonder if Earl will stay away even when he turns 18. I'm sure sooner or later the full story will come out. Maybe when Earl turns 18, maybe when Earl speaks on stuff that's been covered up by Tyler. All I know is that something is going on. I hope they work this stuff out.
Seems like Earl and the rest of Odd Future are on pretty good terms. Tyler, Taco and Earl are all having a nice old chat about Based God on Twitter.
