I honestly don't see Tyler winning in either category. He's just not popular enough.
Saddening but true.

"Ofwgkta TripleSix" "OddFuture WolfGang" nope [editline]7th August 2011[/editline]
this is pretty good. the jerkoff entitled white guy shtick about words having no meaning was stupid though.
Yeah agreed, that line was pretty cheesy, especially with the rhyme on 'word' and 'absurd' but I definitely dig this guy's music.
I love Scroobius Pip, his albums with Dan Le Sac are amazing.
I agree, although I gotta say I found his original recording of Magician's Assistant much more powerful (~hipster~). The low quality recording and the lack of background music and the rest of it just took me by surprise. Worth checking out:

And only listen to yonkers
Imagine them when they first listen to Sarah.
I really like that Scroobius Pip guy.
I really like that Scroobius Pip guy.
he's one of the few british Hip-Hop artists I'm a fan of
I love Scroobius Pip, but I can't fucking stand Thou Shalt Always Kill
That's okay, they'll go to the show, get beat up / harassed, and never bother again.
Music made by and for unfortunate kids always attract the suburbanites. Kid's from the OC that think they are street because they have Protect ya Neck on their Ipod
I love Scroobius Pip, but I can't fucking stand Thou Shalt Always Kill
It makes more sense if you lived in Britain circa 2008 but I love it.
I really dig Scroobius, and I do agree that to an extent his spoken word is much more powerful than when he's backed by a beat. Thou Shalt is pretty good, although it feels just so...overdone. The whole "Think for yourself" general idea of a song.
I actually can't wait for his album (Distraction Pieces) to come out, I want to hear more of his stuff, he has a lot of potential.
It makes more sense if you lived in Britain circa 2008 but I love it.
No, I get it, but it just annoys me about how almost everything he says in the song is hypocritical elitist bullshit
I may be able to go see them in New Orleans on the 30th of October, day after my birthday. Fucking stoked. Free Earl.
how bout some ice cream and some southpark for this first date
Scroobius Pip has a lot of potential, I'm loving his music so far.
Amusing - Steve Albini talkin about Odd Future haha:
I spent about 40 minutes with these little pricks at the end of May and I haven't wanted to strangle anybody that much in a real long time.

My band shared an airport shuttle with them in Barcelona. They piled onto the shuttle late, after finally getting corralled by their minder, who was nursing a head wound with an ice bag wrapped in a towel. They piled in, niggering everything in sight, motherfucking the driver, boasting into the air unbidden about getting their dicks sucked and calling everyone in the area a faggot. Then one of them lit a joint (or a pipe, I didn't look) and told the driver to shut the fuck up nigger and smoked it anyway. A female passenger tried to engage one of them in conversation, but he just stared at her with a dead-to-me stare while his seatmate flipped double birds in her face. The whole trip they complained about not being at a McDonalds and repeatedly shouted for the motherfucker to pull over so they could get some fucking McDonalds nigger. Interspersed with the McDonalds requests were shouted boasts about how often they masturbated and fucked bitches nigger and got paid like a motherfucker fifty grand like a motherfucker. They continued complaining that the trip was taking too long and insisted they be fed immediately all the way to the airport, where their minder presumably fed them. I am quite happy none of them engaged me directly, because at least one of us would have regretted it. I am well aware, thanks, that good people can make ugly art and that ugly people can make good art. Ultimately the function of art is to express something and move an idea from one person to another, and the tools of that can include revulsion and discomfort. Having been in a few bands myself, thanks, I know that the uninitiated can mistake these devices as windows into the soul of the creator. Ultimately they are, of course, but not necessarily in the crude autobiographical way they are often interpreted. I know all that, so I am never quick to judge a person based on a superficial reading of creative output. Peter Sotos is a lovely fellow whom I trust implicitly, despite his writing evoking a truly primal disgust in me, to use another rapey example. Michael Gerald from Killdozer said it best in an interview, when the journalist remarked that he seemed like a nice fellow, which was unexpected given that the characters in his songs are often repellent. "Oh, that's not us," he said, "that's the crazy people we sing about." In that light, I am one hundred percent behind Odd Future's right to rap about what they wanna rap about, and if she don't like it fuck her. And also fuck me. It's none of my business what they wanna. I'm not part of the audience for hip hop, and as a non-dilettante I don't generally respond to it when I hear it, so I can't make any critical assessment of Odd Future's music on its own terms, but they go out of their way to make it clear that this is not a case of regular people making music about assholes, but assholes making music about being assholes. I have no time for that. I don't respond kindly to it when Ted Nugent does it either. If the whole thing is a put-on, a bit of Vincent Gallo life-as-theater for the benefit of whoever happens to be sitting next to them, that's no excuse. It's being an asshole about being an asshole.

I don't think they are stupid. They didn't strike me as stupid anyway. They struck me as little self-satisfied asshole scrubs.

I don't want to paint all rap or rappers with any kind of brush. I'm self-aware enough to know that I'm not in its audience and don't pretend to be, but I don't think people involved in it are any more stupid than other artists, and some of them have proven to be brilliant in one area or another. I don't think Odd Future or their music are stupid. They're probably pretty smart. Smart goes hand-in-hand with cocky, and they're exceptionally cocky. I just think they're assholes.
http://www.electricalaudio.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=53523&p=1374892 And Tyler responding
Feel Like I Have To Defend Myself. 1 Idk Who The Fuck Steve Albino Is 2.
