The plane shit started with anthropomorphic A-10s because why not. It got attention on 4chan because it skirted the "no furry shit" rule for the longest time, even if the one getting posted a billion times was basically a metal shark lady with [del]tits[/del] fuel tanks. 4chan already liked anthropomorphic shark women for whatever reason, so I guess it kept attention that way.

I think the others planes are just a branch off of that from various other people in an attempt to be unique or cash in, and I can't see why people like them beyond a relation of a machine that they like, put into a corporeal form. I love me some military tech, but I still don't really get it. They're interesting to look at, but not actually all that attractive in my books. It doesn't help that one of those "good start, then stagnation into mediocrity" artists (Walter Sache) kept putting them out constantly.
