I tend not to post around here at all, but if I'm going to bother voting I might as well. I think this is a really blanket and polarizing way of handling this, I imagine it would go much more smoothly if the poll was asking to ban obvious pedophilia or incredibly ridiculous things nobody would ever ask for ever (wow guys look at my scat vore fetish). To be honest though, banning all "weird" porn threads on the basis that facepunch is a gaming forum, even though there are a huge number of obvious non-gaming threads, huge subforums dedicated to completely unrelated topics, and controversial or incredibly nsfw things are tagged and posted on occasion in places like videos or sensational headlines seems rather silly. Like, you're not getting rid of it because it doesn't belong, but more because you just don't like it. Frankly I don't think anybody has a leg to stand on when it comes to that by just looking around the website more. You hate furries and they don't belong here, they can find other sites. So I guess gay chat's gotta go too, right? There are other gay websites for them to go to! This isn't a controversial news site either, can't have any of that. No, that's just stupid. Thinking about it though, if you're using the age gate or "I don't want this site to be known for having that stuff on it" as a reason then there are a loooooooooooooooot of things that would need to get purged to stick with that. If everyone wants that, then sure. But I feel like destroying parts of the site and it's culture because a true facepuncher obviously wouldn't like that and it's a stain on the precious community, if it's not actually a vast majority that feels like that, just isn't something worth doing. ...totally behind banning cropped porn in avatars by the way.
The reasons the WTYOTM thread is supported is because: -It is a place where users can post their fetishes without being overly judged(Then again, considering that the weirder stuff got boxes from regulars of the thread...) -It is a pretty chill place to discuss said fetishes in a more civilized way without having "o lol I lik that giant pussy" or shit like that, something someone can't normally do unless with their closest friends(Why doing this is considered anti-social is because of the argument "That shit is creepy" and "People normally wouldn't talk about that IRL, and is therefore antisocial") -facepunch is apparently supposed be diverse and appeal to the needs of many (as long as it isn't illegal or vote) Honestly, I don't mind if it's closed or left open, the thread is just a thread, and it'll eventually collect dust and die, whether it's in 8 days, or 1 month.
