Honestly, no. It just boggles my mind that people are so vehemently defending that Facepunch become a place that they can dump fetish pornography. There are other websites for that, ones that are solely dedicated to the aggregation of various types of porn.

This website is first and foremost, a forum for talking about video games. Are there sections that deal with other things? Yes, I frequently read the Sensationalist Headlines section and the Airsoft section. But there is no way that you can equate those things to porn, at all.

It doesn't matter to me that people are in to those things, but by having a thread that exist for the explicit purpose of posting hardcore fetish pornography is just asking for problems. Yes, I can just avoid the thread easily by not clicking on it. But that does not matter, the fact that it exist period is just inviting controversy to the forum that can be incredibly easily avoided. If the mods all say that it should go, it should go. Because it's obviously obstructing and making their job moderating this huge forum more difficult than it has to be. This thread is evidence of that. Users have been raging and flaming people for the entirety of this thing, it's such a polarizing topic regardless of how well behaved the posters in that thread are being. Shit is going to get stirred no matter what, and if that can be avoided by banning a topic from discussion that has no place on a forum dedicated mostly to gaming and other hobbies then by all means they should go ahead and do it.

If people are upset because they feel like they are being persecuted because they are in to certain things, its not because of that. It's because the straight up honest fact is that this topic stirs up far to much controversy, does not add any value (of a socially acceptable kind) to the forum, and potentially implicates legal risk in the running of the forum.

Yes but unlike news, which is fairly standard, it's an 18+ topic (yes kids will probably find porn regardless but still) and particularly in the case of WTYO, some of the people in there despite there being a ban on it are incapable of not posting lolicon, which is illegal where I live, and most of the mods don't want to sift through the thread to find and delete it all.

So personally I say ban all the porn topics and save everyone the hassle and make the forum look slightly less dodgy.

The reason why those topics get so out of hand is because of excessive flaming going on between both sides, and honestly, whoever participates in those flame wars should be banned. It's obvious that they can't participate in a civil discussion.

I'm not defending the posting of lolicon, because I fully appreciate that it's illegal in the UK where a huge number of users are from, but the instances where something like that actually [I]does[/I] get posted are being vastly overstated, and have in just about all but one befuddling case been dealt with. Don't we have Dai anyway? (and no I don't care if you don't like Dai)
Anyway, if the mods don't want to mod it then get someone who does, I say. The people who want and enjoy the shit are at this point pretty clearly too big in number for you to just shut it down and not expect a massive shitstorm and several attempts at reviving it on and on down the line.
I say give it (and other porn shit) it's own section where it doesn't bother anyone else, and have it be moderated by someone who wants to moderate it.

At the end of the day, the only solid arguments to keep the thread are pretty much purely hedonistic and force everybody else to suffer the consequences of that shit being up. Kids who browse the forum get the chance of stumbling across a stupid fetish porn thread; normal users get to enjoy the echo-chamber effect of the thread generating more NSFW avatars and more users joining explicitly for the porn (look at the forum referrals, it's a thing) and general impudence from the regulars of that thread (let's not pretend they don't take pride in their forum title "SEXY SHARK TIT MAN"); mods have to moderate that rubbish (which it has been established literally none of them want to do); the administration has to deal with the inevitable law-breaking (yes, there was a tinychat in which minors jerked off on cam with adults. No. Dai voted to close the thread, and on top of that his moderation has been extremely lacking and has outright failed to uphold the rules of the thread. I have made this post like, six times. The moderation cannot reliably control a thread, especially one that has to basically be micromanaged like that quagmire.
