I don't think most people will know how great the ban on porn until it's actually enacted and enforced. The problem is we got like another fucking week to wait until it happens.

I'm really disappointed by the anti posters who can't make an argument other than a variation of "animal fucker" and "you probably say you like to fuck animals in a public setting.". These two things keep appearing and anybody posting them unironically are the problem.

I understand they're upset by either some or all of the following: -The prevalence of subjectively icky stuff -Its supposed influence on a person's mind -The bad rep other places have given to the content, and the followers of it, they see -The lack of 'vanilla' stuff and so on.

I don't care about the rep. It just doesn't fit with anything else we're doing here. And it isn't icky. It's disgusting. There are plenty places on the internet where people can express their love for fetishes. For instance, there's FAKKU, endless reddits, and all kinds of stuff you guys can join. It doesn't need to be here. I haven't heard a compelling reason for why it should be here. More importantly, those communities have dedicated moderation. I would assume the moderators don't want to see the disgusting stuff that turns you on.

Moderators make up just a sliver over 0.1% of the entire active community. Even at a low point right now of only 1,277 registered users online, they make up only 2.3% of that - which is making the mistake that all the moderators are on, active, and moderate all sections. Which they don't. Some people lowballed an estimate that active communities need about a 1:50 to 1:100 ratio of moderators and (active) users. We're sitting at 1:888 or so. It's one thing to say that some threads be shut down because of their content, another thing to say that sections should be closed because they don't attract much traffic or content, but when you want an entire section of the forums to be shut down because 'most of the threads are contentless or weird' that doesn't exactly put your position in the best light, it just makes you look like a prick.

A lot of people would not have the same disgust for seeing a badly written poem as they would seeing pregnant furry fetish stuff. Facepunch as a community is open to discussion with a lot of hobbies and stuff, and that's mainly what I'm here for, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Facepunch should not be a reiteration of Reddit, where there's a subreddit for every little thing in existence under the justification of free speech. I personally don't see the value of porn discussion on Facepunch, and I don't feel it has it's place here. That's not me weaseling out, and I offered those alternatives exactly as such. I don't even view the people with those crazy fetishes as idiots or people who should be banned - I really don't care. I'm just arguing about what Facepunch should be about, and porn doesn't fit.
