What was wrong with the rule of thumb of not clicking on NWS threads if you aren't into that stuff? (like me, I have never participated in one)

I mean, in an imageboard it is understandable since it pops up in the frontpage, but on a forum you just don't click and that's it.

Porn avatars I do agree with you, it should be specified what is not allowed so that everyone is happy.

But banning porn threads, NWS threads and other kind of topics... I don't see the benefit of that at all, except that the people that participated into them are going to leak that content in other threads, in their avatars, profiles, etc..

Containment threads aren't that bad IMO.
