Its just what people find the most objectionable and shocking, which is why its singled out. It still highlights the general problem with the thread, and stuff like wbt, the masturbation thread, and all of its other spiritual precursors. A website that accommodates essentially all ages should probably not have a thread like this allowed to live. I can understand you being annoyed when half the posters in the thread disregard people's arguments due to title or avatar or whatever, bu- oh they're banned. Anyway, what with the fact the community can't be trusted to keep their posted porn legal or not foster extremely fucking creepy environments, its time to see them go.

The sample we have now is more than statistically significant. 46% of users want the threads. Obviously they're big assumptions but I don't think the margin of error will be more than 6% so at least 40% of Facepunch I can say with relative certainty want or do not mind the threads existence. I think the number would be lower if they'd been reading this thread though, but that isn't how votes work, large portions of voters are usually uneducated and it would be a gargantuan task to make them all fully informed. So yes. Almost half of Facepunch do not mind the threads existing given their level of knowledge. You need about 1800 people to vote on a population of 26000 to get within 3%. If you're not convinced, all you had to do is look at the percentages from votes on the poll. Since 16 hours of the poll opening the results have been sitting at between 45-47 : 55-53 per cent yes to no. That's exactly within the margin of error. This is at a 99% confidence interval yada yada. I think the gap has slowly been widening so the result will be more like 44% to 56% and then considering null and changed votes maybe down to 43% to 57% I don't think the final number will be below 40% in favour. I wouldn't mind text threads popping up. There have been a few of those over the years and they were quite enjoyable because I wasn't looking at enormous pictures of pornography that makes me uncomfortable every minute. It was just a pretty friendly chat about things other people were interested in. But do people saying "porn has no place on FP" think those shouldn't be allowed as well or something? I'll be honest and say I'm not reading most of the posts here as they are just shitposting, but I am curious as to how people vehemently against the porn threads would take text threads on the same subject. I don't like the porn threads myself and thing they have no real need to be here, but I'd be fine with just chat about the same thing with no pictures at all.
