I didn't say that like you can't do both, but do you seriously think it's better just to wait for a psychiatrist for months on end alone rather than seek immediate help? Not everyone has health insurance to even see a psychiatrist. Then on top of that you have to consider familial situations. My mother's one of those conspiracy theorist idiots who think doctors and psychiatrists have no idea what they were doing so even if I had health insurance in high school (I only did my senior year) there would have been no chance of me seeing a psychiatrist at all.

Stop trying to lump everyone into the same pile. You're doing yourself no favors by trying to argue like that.

If its a real serious problem you would see a professional asap, I had serious depression that one day peaked. Not wanting to make the permanent soultion to a temporary problem, nomatter how deep rooted, I went to the hospital outpatients ( or you can call an ambulance, your life is worth more than $) and they offered me crisis councelling and an overnight stay. I was fine to go home after speaking to the nice gentlemen who councelled me, and they immidiately set me up with a lady named merie westhaver, who was also very nice but helped me even more by referring me to the psychiatrist.

In outpatients they called me in after 20 mins and if youre alone they have a nurse wait with you. After outpatients, merie contacted me 2 days later. So basically lifehack says go to outpatients for quick help.

I live in the UK, where if you want a professional, you have to wait like 2 weeks at least just for a GP. Honestly I think we're all in different situations and we can't generalise who can and who is able to do what. Some people are too scared to vent out to a psychiatrist or they think their problems are belittling. People with very low self-esteem/a very low self-image don't think their problems are even worth the time (these being the people who really need the help). Maybe we should just agree to disagree because I can't see this argument working out anytime soon.
