I don't think there is any reason to get rid of them. "Might weird out new users" is not even an argument and while I'm not a huge fan of most of what is posted on what turns you on, it is just one thread, it is not like people who frequent it post dragon porn somewhere else on the forum. They get banned if they do that anyway. Also without a thread to call their own they might just start spreading.
