I want to know that as well, I use a Ludacris sample in my song. It's heavily chopped up and stuff though.
That would sort of be like remixing a song, so I don't think it's such a good idea because the copyright would still apply.

Not really, samples are in the gray zone. It all depends really. Chopped up is pretty fine I think, I mean Daft Punk never got sued either.
I just can't seem to be able to make a song without making it repetitive in some way. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well, you can sample a little bit from those songs, but you can't do a straight up remix of them.

Well, I wrote and recorded this song in about 3 hours after something very personal and life-changing happened. Normally I wouldn't submit something like this, but I think I will this time. Not exactly that good, but I like it. My voice is shitty, but hey, it's pretty good considering I bawled out my eyes 15 minutes before. The guitar solo kind of uses a melody from another song, but I did that for a reason. I guess I should stop talking and let you guys hear the song:
