I got my own little collection of soviet pins and a some other stuff.
my grandfather has a bunch of these, mostly labor medals, I'll try to get pictures
The previous owner probably lost it. It might even be authentic. I feel sorry for the owner if he actually did loose it and he was a former USSR worker.

Both of our collections are on that exact same hat thingy. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/269/4/9/medals__n__medals_by_catmanmovies-d4b11lj.jpg
That's my medal.

I've been racking up the swag for the past little bit as well http://dl.dropbox.com/u/107136/madswag.jpg Shitload of gas masks and other stuff (soldier's journal that my great grandfather used!) are in my basement somewhere. Grandfather still has his father's WWII Soviet medals and those will probably come to me in 30-50 years.
Shamelessly stolen from Trunk Monkay's pictuer I have one of these. I think I'll start a collection once I can get some extra cash.
Pretty cool how you found the medal in some tin case in the mud. Very lucky. I don't have any Soviet medals myself, just a beret. Could anyone tell me what the inside says? I've been wondering for the past year now. Ive been told that this specific beret was worn by border troops.
There's a high chance that this medal is fake.
The Ghost of Stalin resides inside of it!!!
You must bring the medallion to the Lenin mausoleum to connect the body of Lenin and the soul of Stalin and resurrect STALENIN the SCOURGE OF CAPITALISM.
cool ushanka (Think thats what they're called) I picked up at a thrift store about a year ago:
Talking about old Soviet stuff I got this old Officers Cap that my dad bought for me in a flea market. Anyone knows what rank or whatever it is? I can't find this particular one by searching, only similar ones. (Huge image) http://i.imgur.com/0oMG9.jpg
i'm pretty bad at russian, but i'm guessing that it says "43 Tsilk, moskva" that pretty much means "43, silk, moscow" though i'm pretty sure i'm wrong.
I buried that medal 8 years ago. It was supposed to be a way I could connect with the Russian dead. Way to ruin my plan...
