First two are my forte'
I've got a ridiculous amount of tracks for Dubstep and DnB all the classics, floorfillers and bangers plus the latest releases
Yea, we'll just keep you guys posted.
When we put the open schedules, we'll have everyone tell us which slots they'd prefer.
1. If you're slot has any person competing for it, then, you will fight for it by seeing whose the better DJ.
2. If your slot is a peak-time slot, then, we probably won't put you on if you're playing only Indian Electro Rock Synth Pop from the 1930's. We need music that appeals to everyone.
3. If there are too many people requesting for a ______ show, then, we might have you guys partner up.
These will be the general guidlines.
I'm down with that.
One thing I'm curious about is, the shoutpunch stuff and server.. Is that all being paid by a monthly/yearly/whateverly basis, or is it run basement-style?
Lego pays for the servers which are located in Texas.
Me and Tu will be funding the cash prizes. :v:
me i have a great taste in post metal n sludge

I've taken that position hehehehe!
I can mix trance. I have hardware, software, and a 14 gig trance collection.
It would be cool if you could put the most popular shows up for download like a podcast kinda thing.
I could do a few mixes here and there, but until I get some cables sorted I wont be able to do any live DJ sets off vinyl, although I could create a few pre-made mixes if you needed... oh yeah it would be dubstep/house
This isn't a club, so we really aren't going to play mixes everyday. If you want to do some mixing on air, then, ask one of the hosts with a show that suits the music you're going to play to air it for you, or to have you as a guest.
I have a feeling an hour of dubstep won't do much good for the station listener wise. I mean, our shows have to themes such as Dance, Rock, Rap, etc., but, it can't be an hour of WUBUBUBUBBRRRRR. So if you insist on having your mixes on the station, let's keep it on the weekends. Let's keep our weekdays filled with variety.

I hope that didn't make me sound like a douche. :v:
I just mean like, we can't have 1 hour everyday dedicated to one mix. Like, "The Dubstep Hour" on Thursday or Friday is appropriate, but, not everyday.

If you listen to generic boring dubstep it just sounds the same, an hour of WUBUBUBUBBRRRRR, but there's definitely quite a lot of variation as most GOOD producers have their own styles. But it is ultimately up to you and Tu154M ect.
But I agree, you can't do mixes everyday.

I get what you mean, it's just that UK users will appreciate a lot of dubstep, it's so fucking hot over here

Trance is my forte. May I?
You guys can share slots if you're in the same timezone. It'll come down to whose a better DJ if some of you insist on not being on the same show.
None of that yet, please Xela?

Unless I mistook that post. :v:
What is the fastest site to upload to? I have compressed my mix into a rar and it is still in excess of 700 mb!

He said his forte is Dubset and DnB. I think that implies that he'd rather mix those.
I'd rather mix trance since it's my forte.
Keep in mind the "I think" in those post.
This is radio though. Surely you're not expecting to do a show with no talking and a 1 hour continuous mix of Trance everyday?
Like I said, on the weekends or on one day of the week it's fine, but, if that's you're show format, we'd probably have to prioritize other shows first.
Again, not trying to be a dick, but, just trying to think of what's best for the station.
[editline]14th November 2010[/editline]
If anyone else wants to weigh in on this, then, please go ahead.
Right, my internet is a little bitch and I have been uploading for 3 hours and it still hasn't gone past 200mb.
I'll upload this next week when I have time to upload it overnight.

Once a week works for me just fine, hun.
Eh, we'll work it out when the server is useable.

700MiB? Are you uploading a huge collection of mixes or something? Even The Complete NeuroMix (which lasts 2 hours, 15 minutes) was less than 150 MB, it was in *.mp3 format. What the?
I'm using a lossless .wav format. I want it in the best possible quality.
Any idea when Shoutpunch goes live?

Even so, you should still be able to compress better than that, unless your file is lasting for hours and hours beyond. It just sounds so weird that it's 700MiB compressed. That sounds much more like RAW data (which .wav usually is, AFAIK). And RAR does a pretty good job at compressing, so that can't be it. Have you tried compressing it with something like FLAC?
I dunno, when I have the chance I will try a higher compression ratio with winrar. I was in a rush so I chose bad compression, which is probably the reason.
I found that 7zip compresses just that little bit better than winrar
Maybe you could advertise Facevent in this thread so we could get a few more people.
I'd be interested in DJing. I could do live mixes with Virtual DJ, but I'm not quite sure how I can get that to broadcast. I do have SAM and ShoutCAST for Winamp as well.
