TGS are the people who put food on his table. The people watching his stuff are just some numbers, which translate to another number, which then go to TGS's financial department, which then goes to him in a paypal transaction. He relied on providing stuff that people found, shared, and watched which grew his channel and resume. Fans are important, but his content doesn't rely on a fanbase to be successful. He's, in-a-sense, a youtube gaming journalist at this point. I wouldn't go to the New York Times and scream at them to run a story that I wanted and claim we made them. They made themselves because they provided what people wanted.
All this escalated because he said he doesn't do requests because with 700,000 subscribers he'd be getting stupidly high amounts of requests. I don't see how he owes his viewers anything because without one you wouldn't have the other. That's how youtube works. Viewers need content, and content creators need viewers. It balanced out fine. Even still, he'll probably get to the games people are requesting, but with the volume of requests, it probably would make no difference because people would be requesting everything and we might not even see a difference in his coverage.

He's pretty much the 2nd biggest partner at The Game Station, which is the second biggest network at Youtube. He's really influential.

I understand he sounds like a dick (a lot of the time), but I see people posting requests hundreds of times on every video he posts. Eventually he gets pissed that no one understands what he's saying.
He should ignore it, but even on my videos when I put an annotation at 0:01 explaining everything and I get a few dozen comments asking the same exact thing I explained, I get pissed off as well and sometimes lash out at one particular person. It's hard not to when it seems like no one is reading or listening to me when I explain it.
TB has said he doesn't do requests for years now. Anyone who's a "Fan" should know it by now.

I started watching TB's videos when he started the Worgen starting area in WoW's Cataclysm Beta.

What's wrong with doing an hour long vid on both DE? He loves those games, but that's not being the kind of fanboi that's usually despised. By that I mean, the kind that as you said, blindly agrees with everything, regardless of how right that thing is. In this case, blindly loves something without providing no more reasons than a 7 year old is capable of bringing up, refusing to acknowledge the bad parts and the likes.
He made 1 hour long videos explaining with as much detail as he could present to you, justifying why he likes DE so much and why is it such a good game. Even acknowledging the bad points. Another reason, as well, is that they're RPGs, and RPGs are not suitable for first impression videos, as with RPGs you usually can't get a good general impression of what's the game like in the first 20 minutes, as there's usually much more content, with variety, that's diluted all along the game.
The fact that he spends his time justifying something in a reasonable manner in full detail and with rationality shows that, regardless of how much of a fan he's of DE, he still doesn't fall on the 'annoying fanboi' etiquette, who would just say 'X is good because yes and you're wrong if you say otherwise'.
From there on, you might agree or disagree with the points he's brought up, and argue and make your own opinion from that, but he gives his own opinion in a rational way atleast, and you're free to dislike it if you want.
Regarding the Terraria LP, I'm not really sure. My guess is it's because it's already established in his channel and it's in cooperation with JesseCox, another TGS partner. It's also his most popular content I think, so it's profitable for both of them. I really don't know why does he keep doing it, I can only guess, and it really is eyebrow raising content considering what he says and his channel.
Maybe he's explained it somewhere, maybe he's never really justified it, or I don't remember, but I was never interested in those particular videos and never really cared about it. Although, has TB released any new Terraria content lately? I don't recall seeing any pop up in my subbox in a long time.

I heard him say he's not too proud of the quality of the Terraria show I do believe. He probably enjoys doing it, but isn't particularly happy uploading it to his channel maybe.
