I found this nice Mitsubishi 3000GT for $5000, but it needs a new transfercase which the mechanic quoted as ~$1000. So $6000 doesn't seem too bad: http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-Selling-or-trading-my-baby-W0QQAdIdZ414873768
Just pray that nothing in the engine breaks. That's a bit of a stretch for a Mitsubishi. Why? This is your engine bay: It is an impenetrable wall of shit.
To Luminaire and Electroholic take our advice because most of the people here have owned or have friends that have owned those cars. Greenguy238 actually created a nice list for you. Luminaire, that 240sx is a pretty good/average price for an already-modded 240sx. Other cars: Nissan S13 Coupe/Hatchback Nissan S14 Nissan S15/200SX/Silvia Nissan Pulsar w/ CA18 engine Nissan Skyline any Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution any Mitsubishi 3000GT Mitsubishi Eagle Talon Toyota MR2 Toyota Supra any Toyota AE86 Toyota Levin Toyota Cressida Older-gen Subaru Imprezas Mazda FC/FD RX7 Mazdaspeed 6 Mazda Miata any Honda S2000 Honda Civic Si There's so many things you can do; that Celica is so overpriced man. They're supposed to be at the most, $3000 and that's in a decent, non-modified condition. Save your money and don't buy it cause it looks good. Don't be like this kid at my work who's buying a short-ram intake for his Honda Civic when his piston rings were blown. Go basic and know your car facts first. Get that cheap car and spend the rest on the repairs, (which you damn well know you will encounter with used cars). Just makes sense but take our word with a grain of salt; its your money http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/3281304035.html Something like this; a right-hand-drive tuner with all the good stuff already taken care of. This is worth more than the $6000 and you've got plenty to spare http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-93-Nissan-240SX-rb20-swap-W0QQAdIdZ412889333 A strong and rare engine; body panels are plenty to come by http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1990-Nissan-240SX-Hatchback-W0QQAdIdZ411692833 Some stock flavoring? I think I have to consider living in Canada and all too that I'd be driving the car in winter as well.. so RWD cars are starting to seem like a bad idea (as much as I'd love to get a 240sx). I know you can drive a RWD car in the winter fine if you're a good driver, but still.. [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] My uncle that lives in Calgary also fixes and auctions cars and shit, so I might just ask him to look into somethin he can steal and we can fix up. Might save a lot of cash, and find a nicer car this way [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] I'm also kind of wary of RHD cars, but there seems to be so many good imports..
See a nice manual 5sp Del Sol on CL for sale for $2500, with decent miles (120k or so), a lot of stuff replaced, new clutch etc. No rust. Only downside is bad driver side floor, big hole in the driver side seat, and the exterior looks mildly faded in spots (but not totally falling apart). Also, o2 sensor is bad and some other minor stuff. Call the guy, and the dude sold it off days ago. FFS I swear to god 80% of the people who post on CL are total retards who don't know how to take down postings when the actually sell the goddamn car. I've had 2 nice looking cars sold at reasonable prices that fit exactly what I am looking for (somewhat reliable, cheap on gas) and the guy sold it off already and never bothered to take the ad down. And it really sucks cause I need this car somewhat soonish, before my emergency rental runs out. Or I guess I could just fix my clutch for $800 and then immediatly try and sell it (for an increased amount due to fixed clutch), until better cars that people are actually selling show up on CL

It never snows here.
Just talked to my dad. He bought a 1UZ-FE LS400 for parts in the salvage. Time to convince him to give me beefcake Toyotafat V8 power so I can put it in something cool.
another.. 2.5 weeks until my thermostat setup is expected to ship out to me. kinda sucks, it's not so bad though. long as i get it before snow falls it'll be cake to pull the engine and pop it all together for the most part, i want to pull the engine more than i actually car about putting in the thermostat setup. i am going to try and limit how much i drive the bug in the colder weather though, not exactly good for the poor girl to not heat up properly and never really full warm up because it constantly has cold ass air blowing over the heads + cylinders seems like there was a major oil leak on both sides of the case at some point. i can just barely see it but it looks like where the case + cylinders meet on either side.. hopefully it was before the latest rebuild and the guy who did the rebuild just didn't clean it, not exactly a warm fuzzy feeling to see that though. who knows, the car is 45 and the engine is 38 so that's a long ass time for a lot of crazy stuff to happen, crazy to think that engine has been running (almost definitely not the full 38years) for that long. probably align bored right up to the point of failure on the crankshaft bearing seats by now (most of the original VW cases have by now)
IF I HAD 3K RIGHT NOW
I normally pray my engine doesn't break no matter what type of vehicle I have
some makes don't require constant prayer to ensure working state
I only know of 3 Alberta AA-er's, myself included. Good chunk of alberta Fpers.
oh wow, neat. i was wondering if there was any other calgary boys that go to the car meet on Barlow, I probably would've already seen them lol
that kids getting fucked, losing on such a nice car all though the color is just bad and it doesnt even say shit like what engine, manual or auto, miles etc
some makes don't require constant prayer to ensure working state
Are mitsubishis known for engine failure? I always thought they were pretty reliable.. Right now I'm trying to decide between: Mitsubishi 3000GT AWD Toyota Celica AWD with Turbo Toyota Supra RWD with Turbo (all 1992's) I would like to have AWD for winter, and turbo would be nice. I wish the damn guy would reply about the mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 with twin turbo
The 6G is a shit engine platform. If you're going to get a Mitsubishi do it proper and get something 4G powered. Later 4G engines are rumored to be bad about crank walk, but it really depends on how you treat it.
yeah i can't comment on mitsubishi's in general but like all car manufacturers they have good engines and bad engines
Nobody mentions subarugoos. AWD plus you can mod them to hell if you wanted to. Engines and trans are pretty reliable as well.
subaru's are nice the newer ones are pretty plasticky but older ones have 4WD (well new ones too obviously), are reliable, and not bad on the eyes
What's a good site to buy aftermarket wheels? Trying to find 15-18" wheels that fit a 5x4.75" (5x120) bolt pattern.
that kids getting fucked, losing on such a nice car all though the color is just bad and it doesnt even say shit like what engine, manual or auto, miles etc
If I had $2500 I would totally make him an offer anyway though.

In my opinion, I wouldn't want any modded car. Who knows how well of a job they did?
