Just applied for a new job, starting at $1.50 an hour more than I make now, for less work, and after a three month probation I get bumped up another .50-$1.50. Gonna be needing the money really bad here soon. My current job just isn't cutting it. Asked for a raise a month ago, and I'm still waiting on a response, and still no 90 day/6 month/year(anything, really, please?) review in sight. Been a full employee for just over a year now, and the temps just got a raise because minimum wage went up, so I'm making less than a dollar(.85) more than the monkeys on the line swinging hammers. While I'm building, testing, and refurbishing computers and accessories. Not to mention all the paperwork that goes with it. Hoping it works out though.
Don't feel too bad, I've been repairing home medical equipment for the last 3 years, my pay only went up once from $7.50 to $8.50... over the entire 3 years.
You have to pull out the engine to do any kind of engine maintenence
We replaced the head gaskets in the foxbody with out pulling the engine. Granted it's got the room. I also have worked on my pathfinder which has the VG30E engine and that can be a pain because of room. Looking at the 300z's from the 80's and 90's it seems to have the same room issue.
Your car does not like road salts very much, unless you live somewhere, where snow is rare as fuck and get to drift one time or two a year and not 6 months. But cold temp. is worse than snow on the mechanics though.
OR you live so far up north that they don't salt the roads Usually old cars from lapland look way more new than the ones that have been down south
where do you live that its snowing 1" a minute
Stockholm, Sweden! It only lasted in that rate for 20-30 minutes though, it began to rain so it dissapeared almost as quick though :( [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] And yeah I live down south so they salt the roads here :(
sideways motor does not instantly mean fwd. i know that evo 9s have horizontally opposed engines and obv theyre awd
But not true AWD. Basically just FWD with a t-case slapped on and called good enough, from what i understand

More on the AWD bike project : I think I've given up on this engine and i'm going to try to find a WORKING gas chainsaw for as cheap as possible. two of them so I can really get this project going
Get some Jonsered(Or Husky) turbo chainsaws. :v:

omg guys i stripped the airbox in my A4 and you can totally hear the turbo flutter now http://vocaroo.com/i/s0DzEQ4ETdiM it's sooo adorable
VG30 is a fucking garbage engine Get one that has a swap, even an SR20 is better.
Can't be too picky, unfortunately. 300zxs are rare as hell around here, not to mention the TT versions [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] I tried to do some research online on how to drive manual and ended up confusing myself :v: If I understood the terms for driving a manual tranny and how a clutch works I could probably drive a manual. Currently all I can do is start a manual car and drive around in first gear :v
Jesus it's not that hard why is it that americans can't comprehend something that the rest of the world does easily
The first time I drove a manual was out of the driveway of the guy I bought the car from. :v:
Jesus it's not that hard why is it that americans can't comprehend something that the rest of the world does easily
Aren't you a good mister knows all?
Jesus it's not that hard why is it that americans can't comprehend something that the rest of the world does easily
Maybe because most Americans learn how to drive an auto and it's the opposite for the rest of the world? Manual cars aren't exactly the standard (hehe) here
You don't really have to learn anything, you just move some pedals and levers around
I wish it was that easy for me. My biggest issues right now are finding the friction point, and shifting. To shift, I have to push the clutch in completely, let off the gas, shift to the next gear, and then give gas, right? And if I'm slowing to a stop and I'm in say, 3rd gear, how would I come to a stop properly?
To shift, I have to let off the clutch completely,
Say goodbye to your car if you do that. dear god
I don't think the car would grenade itself just for that, the clutch surely will toast, but I don't think the force of it would be enough to send shrapnel through all the unibody of the car and/or explode with such force that the car would gone. :v:
Wait oops, not what I meant :v: I push the clutch all the way in, let off the gas, shift to the next gear, then give gas when reaching the friction point?
get off the throttle, clutch in, shift, clutch out, gas it. you can either coast to a stop by letting off the gas with the clutch in, or engine brake by not touching the clutch or throttle and clutch in/downshift when you're about to stall
The only time the biting point matters is when you first start rolling.
I stalled my mothers car like 5 times before I even began to find the friction in the clutch :v: It was a bit of a bitch though, because it was on an incline. Not a huge hill or anything, but as soon as your foot left the brake, you'd start rolling backwards.
I felt good in my manual driving abilities once i had done so for about 8 months. Then I drove in the mountains.

I managed to do it just fine on my first try (even though I would've killed any pedestrians crossing the road I was going to :v: ) You just have to find the point where the clutch is basically holding the car up, then give it some gas. I actually have a bigger problem on my bike, where I have a brake on my left foot, the clutch on my left hand and the gas on my right hand (which is almost like having three feet)
Gulen's right. You just have to practice finding the right elevation of the clutch, we call it "dragläget" here. Eventually you'll do it without thinking, and when you switch cars you'll learn to handle it easier.
Dragläget - the draglaeg~ :v:
