Googling comes up with
"The 93-97 cluster will need a converter box for the tach if using a V6 cluster on a V8 or a V8 cluster on V6"
And
"The LS1 and LT1 clusters are wired differently. The LS1 cluster gets its info from the PCM while the LT1 cluster gets its info directly from the senders."
"One is for an LS1, one is for an LT1. The tach output is different between the two, the temp gauge on a 99+ LS1 doesn't give you the actual temp of the car, just lets you know if it's hot or not, the gas gauge is a different ohm range and the pinouts on where the engine harness plugs into the V8 dash harness is different than the V6 harness."
Major problem I can see here is that last line, where the engine harness plugs into the dash harness is different, other than that the rest of the stuff can be taken care of. Ls1 guage clusters are cheap-ish, ill look more into what is different that needs to be changed between the v6 dash harness and ls1 one.

This is so involving, jeez.
Fuck you guys, I have headlight nipples.

I would like to see them nipples with the high beams on. ;p
Life is so much easier now that I have the right tools all in the correct place.
Are timing belt tensoners something they skip on?
I've heard of places skipping them. With the pathetic excuse "well they aren't wobbly, making noise, etc..." they CAN and probably WILL break if you do not replace them with everything else.
My dad also gave me all his specialty tools, from hardlining tools to wrenches for bolts the size of my head, there's everything here.
This question is mainly directed towards brad but if you giys know the answer or can help out in any way then go ahead.
Ive been doing a load of reasearch on a LS swap into my 2000 camaro with a 3.8, the whole swap is in the $2000 range, it will be with a 6.0L LQ4 with an LS1 intake. The biggest thing im having to get around right now is the fuel injection and PCM. You can buy a stock LS1 PCM ($90) and bolt it in place of the v6 one (although you can flash the PCM with a V8 tune i think you need a program to do that), with the engine in along with the trans (i have the trans part all figured out)hook a stock LS1 wiring harness to the engine which should work and run the 6.0 using the LS1 tune which could be a little rough or work fine because people have changed cams and not the fuel map in any way and the engine works fine, same with adding intakes and headers.
Does this seem all right to you, anything I would have to look for in specific.
Do it simple and just turbo the 3800 you've got in the Camaro, these 3800 when coupled with a turbo makes INSANE power. A bit of work on the intake, some 1.9 rockers, a good turbo and all the stuff and a fine intercooler could bring you soooo easily in the 400bhp range.
And if you feel like it, throw a XPZ camshaft in it instead of rockers, and 105 springs.
Turbo is more cost/power efficient in the long run than any S/C build, S/C hits a wall rather rapidly.
(To do a Top swap on a N/A 3800 on a Camaro you'd need a Holden L67 M90 with the U-bend in it for the intake. I guess the Heads/lower intake manifold/fuel rails, etc could be picked up from a Chevy/Buick/Olds/Pontiac L67.)
This shit :

But I'm going to add that for your money, swap in a LS.
Make sure that it is in writing that they will replace the TIMING BELT, WATER PUMP, AND TIMING BELT TENSONERS.
Not just in writing because that doesn't mean anything. A lot of companies will tell you and write it down that they are doing that and then not do it and still charge you.
Have them show you the OLD PARTS of everything they change or replace. New timing belt? Show me the old one. New water pump? Show me the old one. etc etc.
If they show you your old one you know it isn't still on your car.
Was doing my police stuff last night when we came cruising through a lot...

Someone is going to have a bad day.
So some girl just tried convincing me that her car didn't have a transmission because it was "too smooth and quite to possibly have one."
So some girl just tried convincing me that her car didn't have a transmission because it was "too smooth and quite to possibly have one."
She could be talking about CVT
Of course its still a transmission but not a actual "transmission" in the sense of it.

No, she was talking about her new Jetta.

Once I was at the gas station and some lady came up to me and asked me where to put the gas. She had the hood open trying to figure it out :eng101:
Damn that C7 looks like sex
Holy hell it's going to be called Corvette Stringray!

If nascar was this exiting I could see why so many people watch it.
To many little details here and there, but it looks ok. It's clear to see that it's going to be competing with the new Viper. The front looks a bit like the Viper too.

I'm a bit disappointed that the C7 doesn't have round taillights.
Some questions about my new tools :
I have a really twisty wrench that looks like the melting clocks in Salvador Dali's paintings.
What it is it called and what's it for?
[t]http://a.tgcdn.net/images/products/zoom/e7f1_surrealist_melting_clock.jpg[/t]
It doesn't look like a modification, it looks like that's how it came.
Some notable tools would be:
Stanley MR22 riveter
1 1/8" Wrench (That's head size, its over 1 foot long!)
Twisty wrench
12 inch adjustable crescent wrench
[editline]14th January 2013[/editline]
The bends on the twisty wrench are symmetrical and look very deliberate
It also has no markings what-so-ever.
Installing the coilovers tomorrow! Can't wait

???
Speaking of bad driving, I lost one of my side skirts today. Had to take a sharp right turn around a curb onto a two lane street, there was a few cars driving past so I didn't have the room to make a wide turn (or else I would cut into the lane going the opposite way). Ended up driving onto the curb and heard a loud clunk :v:
Side skirt got ripped/crushed completely, the parts that are bolted on are still on there :v:
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
I really don't want to see what it looks like in daylight. Fuck driving after a long day of work...
fun story time: Yesterday was the first really cold day after a week of 40 degree temps in MN.
I, in my squad car, pull into a lot... and BAM
HOLY SHIT ICE RINK
I PULLED ONTO AN ICE RINK
FUCKING SLIDING EVERYWHERE

I once scraped a curb in my truck turning into a parking lot because some lady in her van was sitting too far over in her turn lane. I just kept going. Didn't hurt my tire any.
Probably could have done a better job just drawing it myself than taking a google maps picture, but it'll do. First time using this version of paint. :O

I always liked the original stingrays from the 60's
My favorite is the 69"
I also miss the flip up head lights.
