People today spun out on less than 1" of snow. Hell, there wasnt even enough snow to cover the roads and people still spun out.
The roads here don't have snow on them but are full of ice so yesterday I was pretty much sideways all day with the school's Ford Transit to pick up parts from different stores.
When it's icy I like to go to a deserted car park and practice handling and getting used to how the ABS feels and such. Honestly I think everyone would benefit from purposefully loosing control of their vehicle in controlled circumstances, you learn a lot about how the car behaves. The police should coordinate sessions to teach this sort of stuff. Definitely not handbrake turns ... :p
I completely agree. When I was learning to drive, my dad would take me out in the rain and say, "OK now I want you to hit the brakes as hard as you like" and feel for the ABS. We also found an empty parking lot, went in circles (fast) to see how applying gas changes the turn radius (RWD car). I also practiced changing lanes with the ABS activated (just go hella fast, slam the brakes and turn left and right again quickly. Learn to throw the wheel around so you can actually avoid stuff.) Very fun and I learned a lot - there's more grip than you think
The more I drive my jeep the more comfortable i am with it. For example, when it goes slightly out of wack from loss or traction and such it would be like my heart skipped a beat but now I drift it all over the place (within reason, such as parking lots and at home) and nothing really fazes me, I've learned how to control it a lot better.
Dat solid axle sharp lump in the road while going around a turn feel. It is one of sphincter closing proportions.
Someone did that around here a few years ago, got fired. Burger King ratted him out. [editline]16th January 2013[/editline] I am predicting a lot of vehicles wont start next monday:
Won't start at those temps? It's not even cold.
sigh. Sadly I'm not in the mood to dig around and post prices on shit. Just look up "Cold Start Injector, ABS, Sline Seats, Mirrors, side skirts (allroad), pacific Sline transmissions and rear diffs, replacement turbos for the 2.7T. Only thing I have looked up and thought "Oh that's a decent price." was on a trucking thermostat. And my point is yes Audi shit is expensive when you can find a replacement Ford part that will fit and work exactly the same for 1/2 the cost.
Don't worry, I believe you. I was just looking up Audi parts to see just how expensive they were and found that one. I've stopped looking at Audis for my first car because of you.
>3 days left >bidding You don't know how ebay works, do you? Nobody hard bids on anything until under 24 hours left. I'll be keeping an eye on this to see what it goes for though! Very interesting auction.
Well, I've done some bidding before, but only on small electronic components. It was mostly meant as a joke. I really hope the seller's set a minimum price for it, though.
I've been driving my car, and I scrape on everything, haha. I either have to get better headers, or raise my car, if my exhaust didn't hang so low it would be a good height for my car.
Out of curiosity, in Maryland you can only drive family members for the first 5 months of your provisional, does anyone know if you can drive step-family too?
Out of curiosity, in Maryland you can only drive family members for the first 5 months of your provisional, does anyone know if you can drive step-family too?
If your parents are legally married I would assume they count as family members.
Wooooo! Looks like I might have a job by tomorrow/saturday. I had an interview at Mongolian BBQ, and the manager really liked me. Said they'd be calling me tomorrow.

All mine go: "We'll give you a call in a few days" which translates to "If you dont get a call from us in two days, you didnt get the job"

That's the problem with being low lol, there's also a certain way you learn to drive to prevent scrapes.
Out of curiosity, in Maryland you can only drive family members for the first 5 months of your provisional, does anyone know if you can drive step-family too?
If you mean your mum's boyfriends family, no. They must legally be married.

I want some movies for the weekend. What are the best car movies? Obviously Gone in 60 Seconds is going on that list, are there any others?
DUEL. PLEASE watch it. It is AMAZING. Steven Spielberg directed it, and it stars Dennis Weaver. I can watch that movie 100 times and I will still love every minute of it. WATCH IT. It is becoming a forgotten classic. Get the 90 min version.
No, this was just curiosity, his kids are all 22+
Then it doesnt matter anyway since they're over 21

Vanishing Point is pretty cool

Plus, I really need the money. The manager asked me what I would do if someone shit on the bathroom floor, to which I responded "I would simply go in the bathroom, and clean it. I used to clean hospital equipment covered in shit anyway. Its no big deal." He just looked at me in shock.
I've uncovered a butt-load of lessons on automotive tech http://www.wisc-online.com/ListObjects.aspx Left bar -> Technical -> Automotive Technology There's also stuff on electronics, welding, plumbing, and much more that may prove to be helpful. [editline]18th January 2013[/editline] Theres also this : http://www.reverie.ltd.uk/air_box_guide.php Which contains the formula for finding required CFM of air for a NA or FI engine.
Went and checked out a GC210 coupe today, to much rust for a first project. Has an L28E from an 280zx swapped in its previous life it was a drift pig. I'll just wait for another one.

My truck gets 5MPG It costs me $6 to drive to my Girlfriends and back. :suicide: I love this truck but it's not practical at all.
With the UK's Diesel prices I'd be throwing away 2 hours of pay just to get there and back if my car did that :v: - Near enough 1/4 of my earnings, fuck me. I get ~45MPG(UK) on my daily commute though so it actually works out cheaper than the 2 buses I would have to take otherwise =)
My truck gets 5MPG It costs me $6 to drive to my Girlfriends and back. :suicide: I love this truck but it's not practical at all.
Do you have a 360 or a 390? stock? Just wondering about it, probably going to do the shit to make my 360 a 390.
Do you have a 360 or a 390? stock? Just wondering about it, probably going to do the shit to make my 360 a 390.
It's a 352. I put an Edelbrock Aluminum Intake and 4BBL Carb 600CFM I want to make it a 390 someday. [editline]18th January 2013[/editline] The 3 Speed transmission does not help at all....
