No. For starters, it costs money. A lot of it. You'll have to re-learn how to shift with your left hand. It will be less safe. When you make a U-turn, the only thing between you and oncoming traffic will be about two or three inches of thin steel. Cops might pull you over for shits and giggles. Parking will be an issue, because many people park close to the right side of cars. You'll have trouble getting in unless you hit people's cars with your door.
I'm asking because making a Nissan 240SX RHD doesn't cost too much money these days. A dashboard, maybe some pedals, center console, door panels and maybe a firewall. It's completely legal to do it and it costs little money if you'd wait. But this shop specializes in collecting these old parts and will install it for you within 1-2 days. Plus I don't care about dying hence why I drive a 23 year old tuner. Figured if I'm going JDM might as well enjoy the difference in driving as well, I can adapt. But yes, it's a lot of money I can be focusing on other parts. (IE like rebuilding my motor and buying lowering coil overs). I don't know, I guess it would be jaw-dropper to pull up next to someone at a red light and be close enough to high five them; any thoughts on RHD?
the u-turn thing is just looking for faults in RHD in LHD traffic but converting a LHD to RHD when you're in LHD country is fucking retarded
Elaborate
What if someone runs a red? It doesn't necessarily have to be the turners fault
Then driving a LHD car is just as dangerous when going through a green light. What if someone runs a red then? (Which happened to me... and they hit my drivers side) My only point was that saying you have less protection for X case is a bit silly when considering pros and cons of RHD vs LHD. However, as someone said, driving RHD in a LHD is stupid unless you are a mailman or something where it is beneficial. You might as well throw money into the trash can if you are going to spend money converting a LHD to a RHD in a LHD country.

RHD conversions are like the ultimate rice possible in an LHD country.
personally I think that if a car isn't bought rhd, leave it as it is.
While I agree with this, I'm a firm believer in "It's your car, do what YOU want." A RHD conversion on your car might be as close as you can get to a true RHD/JDM shell, and if that's the feel you're after, get after it. Don't let anyone stop you.
Towing my car back to mech costed me 50 squids, because fuck money.
Ill be picking up that old dodge with the 360 4 speed from my friends house soon, if I were to drive it should i go light on it to make sure nothing breaks or should I power shift it and do some launches to be sure it can take the abuse? [editline]24th January 2013[/editline] Been sitting for 6 years.
I'd like break it back in first for like a week or two; then you can do whatever Edit: Similar to how you're not supposed to redline the engine when you've just started it up, but on a bigger scale
Fack been so cold out, we froze a battery.
Don't understand why anyone would want to do a RHD conversion. It's pointless. If you like spending money on something that doesn't make your car faster, doesn't improve looks, and makes it more impractical, then by all means do so, just don't complain if I call it retarded.

I can only see it being a "problem" at drive-thru places.
All true, except calling it "more impractical" is like saying every country with RHD has inferior automobiles. It is "more impractical" for someone in a RHD to convert to a LHD in a RHD country as well as a LHD to convert to a RHD in a LHD country. It is situational impracticality.

Aside from what I just said, there's no real situation where a RHD would be a hindrance in America. It's not like I'm advocating RHD swaps here, guys. I agree, it's silly and not something I'd spend MY money on at all. I'm just saying, stop bashing someone for wanting to do what he wants to do. Everyone in here being all grumpy. First it's a big fight about auto vs. manual now it's a big fight about LHD vs. RHD in a LHD country. Who cares? It's all subjective.
Would suck on the toll road.
Yeah, I already brought that up.
Convert to RHD. Do it. Just for the hilarity that will ensue when you get pulled over and the cop walks up to the passenger and they just go "idk dude it wasnt me" Better teach your girl how to be a good co-driver.
Nah, I'd recommend DIY. There are plenty of sites about Self-Trepanation. [editline]...[/editline] Oh god yes, my favorite Valiant is for sale at a reasonable price. Had some lady in a toyota yaris come in for an oil change. Check the first tire, it's at 74 psi. I think "that's not too bad, I've seen worse". Check the second tire, it's at forty-something psi. Check the third tire, it was 86. I check the last tire and see that it's at 105 psi. 105 psi. At first I though "oh 105 that's not that-holy shit 105 psi how the shit has that tire not blown up yet". She also wanted a tire rotation, something I thought was hilarious :v: Also had some guy come in and return washer fluid we had put in his car (it froze and he replaced it.). We get some fucking weird people sometimes...
I would want a refund for putting in summer washer fluid. Especially in a cold climate.
Except he came in for an oil change last July. Should have added that to my post, but yeah :v:

I don't know. The max pressure of the tires was 44, I don't know how she managed to inflate it to twice the max pressure without the tire blowing the fuck up
Perhaps there's lots of safety stuff that makes it not blow up, but when it does, damn. Also maybe she was doing the tire-kick pressure check :eng101:
I wonder what kind of compressor she was using
Was driving about to merge onto the highway and then a suddenly loud CLONK sound came from under my radio unit (aka my tranny). Don't know what the fuck happen car still runs smoothly and goes in and out of gears fine. Did 80mph on the highway afterwards parking the car and getting out of work and driving home. Taking it to the shop to find out what's wrong or what happened
Mech did overtime tonight at his workplace, so he didn't have time to check out my car starting problem. But once I get a hang of him tomorrow will hope that I don't need much parts. I figure I'll need to return my battery on the warranty, it seems bad and I found out that a reman. starter is 90$ shipped. 50$ down the drain so far, hopefully it ain't gonna be too much. At least I've still got my red blown gt to use.

got a new muffler put on my truck today, made it stop sounding like a vacuum cleaner, no louder, just a better tone.
Ah, here's a great article for anyone interested in purchasing eBay turbo things. A lot of people hate on them, but these guys actually put them to the test by bolting them on a small block chevy in a 1955 Chevy. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_1009_cheap_turbos_from_ebay_on_a_350_small_block_engine/viewall.html After bolting everything together, the baseline run ended up making 437 horsepower at the rear wheels, and 489 ft-lbs of torque. This might not seem like a ton, but considering it's a stock small block, with a cast iron crankshaft and iron heads, and that they only had around $1300 in parts, it's a really good sign. They added some external wastegates and a boost controller, and ended up running 114 octane race gas and making a dyno pass at 22 PSI -- this netted them a final result of 596 rear-wheel horsepower and 642 foot pounds of torque! It's truly astonishing when the final product, around $2000 worth of parts, turned a wheezy, carbureted, NON-INTERCOOLED small block chevy motor into a 600 horsepower beast. I'm sure with some timing control in the form of MSD or whatever spark control you like to run and with a proper intercooler, there is more power to be made. But honestly, you can't ask for more. 600hp for $2000. That's a bargain.
We didn't care how much power we were going to make. We simply set out to see what you get for your dollars with an eBay turbo kit. If anything, we were impressed by nearly 600 rwhp and the crank-snapping 642 lb-ft, and you should be, too. We learned that you shouldn't buy the turbos with the integral wastegates; buy the external gates instead. If you are going to run this on the street, get an MSD BTM controller that retards the timing as the system sees boost so you can run some initial on the street. I would definitely spend a little more for an intercooler. LS3TT is a pretty cool acronym. Especially if it pushes 550 horses on pump-gas.
