I wanted to ask more information on the del Sol, maybe a more specified look-into and "how much you'd rate it out of 10" in terms of reliability and all that junk that would make people like my dad and people who get hard when they save a lot on gas and on any kind of maintenance.
Reliability is a 10 if anything. Even when problems happen, anyone with a set of spanners can fix the thing. Everything is 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm and 19mm bolts (32mm for axle nuts if you change an axle). Literally just a two-seat civic, so parts are everywhere.
I would never put myself in a situation that I would be imminent danger of death.
You're a cop, that shit happens every day.
But you went on super slippery ice? That is dangerous.
But you went on super slippery ice? That is dangerous.
You compensate for the conditions. Its not like you go driving 70 when its nothing but glare ice.
Of course, but still. Say you meet someone in an intersection. They're coming from the side and they're going too fast. You might not being able to stop in time because of the ice.
The chance isn't very big, but it could happen. Worst case scenario you know.
How thirsty is the 5.0 in a fox body Mustang?

And you are a mechanic right?
Or just have a ton of experience with Hondas in general, right? Making your testimony 100% right... If I remember it right, you said it could take parts from just about any part from a '90s Civic right?
I really want that damn car. It's so nice, but kind of afraid that I'll get one giving its dying breaths.

I ran an auto shop for a while and have been toying with Honda junk since I was 15. I know a thing or two about them. 92-95 Civics and Del Sols are identical in terms of suspension and drivetrain. The Del Sol has its own unique body panels though, so if you end up bumping anything you'll ned Sol panels.

Very.
Getting pulled over sucks.
Getting a ticket sucks.
Getting pulled over 3 times, and getting 7 tickets within one day? You should just stop driving.
(from Minnesota State Patrol)
A 49-year-old Alabama woman apparently didn’t get the message the first time she encountered a Minnesota State Trooper.
The woman was ticketed four different times within a matter of hours for driving as fast as 112 mph along I-90 in southern Minnesota on Friday.
A trooper first stopped the woman in Martin County at 2:25 p.m. after dispatchers received two separate complaints of a vehicle speeding and weaving in and out of traffic along the interstate. The vehicle passed the trooper at 112 mph. The driver was ticketed for speeding, no insurance and possession of marijuana.
But the speeding didn’t stop as the woman continued through Minnesota to her destination – Racine, Wis.
Another trooper stopped the vehicle 20 miles later going 99 mph. The driver was again ticketed for speeding and no proof of insurance.
Minnesota troopers and the Wisconsin State Patrol were advised of the driving conduct and to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
About an hour and 10 minutes later, another trooper stopped the vehicle, this time traveling at 88 mph, in Freeborn County and ticketed the female a third time for speeding and no insurance.
Finally, the driver was ticketed one more time for traveling 88 mph in a 70 mph zone before making her way out of Minnesota into Wisconsin.
The driver faces more than $500 in fines, not to mention increased insurance rates.
The Minnesota State Patrol reminds drivers to slow down and abide by the speed limit.

Why didn't they arrest her at the third time, shes a threat to public safety by then.

Don't think I'm that bumpy of a person, but doesn't means someone wont bump into me...
So, in what comes to internals (engine, drivetrain and so on) its basically like every other Civic?
Then it should be cool. Onwards to getting a job and makin' money.
Thanks!

Hm, that might be a deterrent then. What's an economic, sporty RWD that won't massacre my wallet?
Anything that isn't American. :v:
Or sporty.
;_; death wobble while going 65 in traffic, nearly pissed myself

I like how she slowed down by about 10 or 15 mph each ticket.

Yep. As long as the car came with the same engine, everything down to the ECU even, is identical.
1993 Del Sol Si:

1995 Honda Civic Si:

And mpg?
Nearly identical as well. The American Si models of the Civic and Del Sol both rated for exact same mileage due to the fact that they weigh the same and have identical gearboxes and engines (and ECU, containing the same fuel maps and the like).

Doesn't look that bad to me.
17 isn't bad? What planet do you live on where gas is almost free?
[editline]30th January 2013[/editline]
Some TRUCKS do better than that
I apparently get 20mpg
.. premium gas only :c
I'm really considering selling my truck to buy a that gets better than 5-8MPG.
I love my truck but when it costs me about a $1.50-$3 to drive to school everyday which is 4 miles from my house and back...
What would you guys do?

I get 22 on the highway with my blazer. about 12 city though
do you need a truck
unless you really do i'd sell it
do you need a truck

No
I don't have a use for a truck.
I'm still in High School, my Dad bought me the truck and we have worked on it together quite a bit, which is one of the reasons I don't want to sell it.
But I don't haul things like ever.

Save as much as possible. Saving money is always a good thing.
Then buy this:

That's ricier than an Alienware, my friend.
My fullsize pickup with a glorified computer controlled carburetor and a 350 V8 averages about 16 mpg all around. And that's with a high flow cat, muffler, and an upgraded O2 sensor.
