My friend got it his second try and in one hour spun his car out trying to show off because hurr durr what is rwd while turning.
I passed first time too, then just under a month after getting my first car, I rolled it over on a country road :(
Wait no-one posted this yet?
So, yesterday, I drove for the first time a man's car. A petrol engined car, instead of a diesel! I don't know if the differences are universal for every car like that, but the diesel I drive just needs foot down on the clutch and a key turn to start, and a foot off of the clutch to start going slowly without using the gas pedal. I used my aunt's old '80 something Corsa. Had to go home to turn on the alarm, so I thought "well, time to learn". I couldn't get the damn thing out of the garage because I couldn't find the reverse at all. Apparently, you have to push the gear lever down and then shift it to wherever reverse is. So there I went on a car which I didn't quite know how exactly it was supposed to work... It was a shitty, and at the same time, nice ride through the country. Because of the damn cyclists, I had to go around 2 towns just to get to my house, and I somehow, never let the car stall on me once. I was surprised at how well that worked out really. Even when I got to my house and had to use the reverse, I found it with no problems. Only sort of "mistake" I made was when turning the car on, I have to hit the gas, and it revs waay to much, but other than that, fuck yeah.
Most cars have some sort of a safety-feature to prevent you from accidentally putting it into the wrong gear, though. And a petrol car isn't that different from a diesel (except from how the engine works, but not that different in use) A little update on my Golf: My mom talked to the lady that owns it, and got the licence number for it (which lets me look it up), and it's a 1,9L Diesel, producing 110 HP, FWD. Oh, and she wants $12800 for it, while similar cars (same year, engine, etc.) goes from around $5500 - $7300.

I've got a new clutch switch and coolant sensor on order, I'm going to try that first to see if it will cure my ongoing intermittent lack-of-power problem. According to OBD it's going into limp-home mode because of the switch, but I know the coolant sensor is also dodgy as it sometimes tells me it's overheating and the cooling fan will spin up... all before I have even started the engine. Known fault on these Picassos. When the power comes back, it's pretty scary how fast it is. Mostly because it will decide to come back when you are going round a tight corner or something and I'll have my foot to the floor :v: Citroen suspensions aren't exactly noted for their anti-roll feature. One thing I am contemplating doing is removing the EGR valve and inlet manifold and giving it a right good clean, being a diesel and on 91,500 Miles without that part ever being touched I imaging it's fairly sooted up. Has anyone done this? Thoughts? I mainly want to know if it's worth the hassle, It's a 2.0 DW10 PSA HDi engine. Known for being an absolute pig to get to any part.
My friend has one of those accords with the auto transmission problems and is getting transmission problems. It's drivable and will probably stay that way for a while, but since attention will eventually have to be paid to it, I'm thinking about whether or not a manual conversion would be worth it, since he'd definitely be interested in it unless he has the money to get rid of the car. It's an I4 model, not sure of the exact year but it's a 6th gen. I'm thinking if the engine has a decent amount of miles it'd be worth it, considering an auto replacement won't be cheap anyway, and being a teen with low paying jobs and school, replacing the car might not be a good option if the rest of the car is in good shape. Plus, replacing with another auto just to have the same problems would really suck.
Sup, I replaced my 6th Gens accord tranny at around like 80 or 85k miles maybe even before that. Yeah our trannies suck and rebuilt is recommended. If your friend wants you can do the manual conversion ontop of it if he wants to make it a-bit faster it's much easier to swap to the H22 Engine. Unless you want to be like me and dump godlikes amount of money just to make the F23A1 hit 220hp (Drop in a 2-3k turbo kit, Chip ECU, etc). The way my tranny went is I was on the highway and i lost 4th gear and redlined so i let off it dropped into 3rd i thought it was just a random mess-up or something and then i lost 3rd and drove home in second gear all the way. Luckily didn't loose 2nd otherwise i'd be limited to like 30mph. Ignoring it could leave to a complete tranny failure and you don't want that while your out
Just throwing this out there, but when you're on a date with a girl and are going to get it on in a vehicle, do not choose a school parking lot, which is empty, and then stay there for 20 minutes, allowing for the windows to ice over and the car to be covered in snow. And then look all mad when I come knocking on your window. You were not "cuddling." Go home.

Its not even that they were there that was the problem, the problem was that they chose that location. There are 20 other "good" spots for this in the city, but they choose a school's lit parking lot.
I have my first Car driving lesson tomorrow, been riding a Motorbike for 3 years but I need a car license too really for practicality. Fucking terrified. :v:
What say ye of my choices?
Here´s too waiting a couple of weeks before I can retake the exam while the car is sitting right outside my window :v:
Yeah I've had my car in the driveway for like a month and a half now..test in 13 days :suicide:
Gotta check fuses.... since my truck will go into 4-lo but not 4-hi. (along with no power to passenger seat)

I imagine it'd be smart to try to get a warranty for it if possible?
You guys watching the new episode of Top Gear? The new Pagani is even more impressive on the track than it is on paper.
My buddy bought a 2012 veloster. He has had more problems with it than you'd think possible and has already been back to the dealer three times (all covered by warranty, admittedly.) Still. The turbo one that came out this year is supposed to be pretty quick. But that mazdaspeed3 is definitely quicker.
Did a carfax report on the mr2 I wanna get. Apparently there's a mileage inconsistency and a possible odo rollback, if there is then it was rolled back by 100k miles. Is there any way to confirm an odometer rollback?
Pretty much how you just did. When it's rolled back, it's rolled back. AFAIK anyways.
It was at 64,345 at an emission inspection station in 1999, then at 164,510 at a motor vehicle department in 2003, then at 79,136 at another emissions place in 2006, then at 84,410 at a dealership last year. Other than that though, it's fine. No accidents, no salvage title, not rebuilt, etc. I'll know more once I go test drive it and check it out
My truck went from 98K to 198K in two years according to the...shit I just realized I wiped my laptop and lost the files I had of my trucks VIN history. [editline]4th February 2013[/editline] But I'm 98% sure it had a transmission and gauge cluster swap at some point too.

Well... I may not be on anything as active as I am now anymore. I got enrolled in classes to become an EMT and its going to kick my ass.

We had a guy come in that was at one of our competitors' lube shops on his last oil change, we open the hood and there's oil everywhere and the oil filler cap was missing :v:
And that's why I do it myself.
As someone who works at an oil change shop, i only trust myself with oil changes. I just use the shop I work at to do it, most convenient oil changes ever :v:

The more I think about all the hard, unforgiving plastic in new vehicles, and cheapness, I don't think I will ever get a new car. For the money you would pay for one of those new, you can get an amazing car second hand.
