it's a feel-good film about an old man with a motorbike, so logically it should be faeces milkshake - but it's actually pretty good. Despite maybe a slightly iffy accent Anthony Hopkins plays Burt Munro really convincingly as far as i know. Possibly one of the most likeable protaganists ever imo
Not to get totally off-topic but I understand the reasoning behind PUI bans, they prevent you from possibly doing anything stupid.
That being said, I personally don't care as long as they don't start anything.
I've adjusted, and readjusted my TV cable on my transmission and it's still not shifting right. I checked the old cable I pulled off and it didn't look like there was much of anything wrong with it, and it still doesn't shift right so I don't think it was the problem in the first place. I'm starting to worry about my transmission because 700R4's are really sensitive to this kind of thing, and I don't know if I'm gonna be able to afford a replacement if it burns up.
Had a car come in, owner was complaining of something leaking. Went and took a look under it, entire tranny pan was covering in tranny fluid. Turns out someone had almost completely stripped the drain plug. Someone just took the drain plug, shoved it in there, and then half-assedly tightened it. Even worse, it was at our shop the last time :suicide:
Luckily we had a few spare drain plugs, and there was no damage to the tranny pan
4" snow mound blocking my car from the street cause some fucktard threw snow on the street and the plows pushed it aganist my car.
So i got in, turned car on and waited a few secs and dropped the pedal and rammed my way out of that shit. Then constantly going around everyones brand new cars getting stuck in 2" of snow chucks on the road and i'm blasting through 4-5" sections of snow cause i gotta drive through the shit to get past peoples stuck cars.
The fuck is going on here.

We got 30 inches of snow in CT where I live.
these random commercial vans that showed up the day of the storm taking up spots in our neighborhood. I cleaned out two spots and the two fuckers who left the vans took both spots and even took our shovel off our front door and used it then left it where they pulled off from there van. I swear to the mightful v8 heavens these guys stay here another day.

Anybody with experience that can give me a rundown on the Chevrolet 1LZ37 Beretta 1991?
Since I'll be asking later anyways...
I'm also looking at a few Firebirds, '91 '92 and the '94
The 92 doesn't have a price listed and is at 170hp, while the others are at 140, but the prices seem reasonable, any information on the Firebird?
Especially interested in common issues.
[sp] Also looking at an '87 supra, a '94 probe, two Thunderbirds ('94 and '95) and a '94 BMW e36 325 Coupe.. but this post is too long already. [/sp]
Sorry for taking up the thread with this nonsense, but I always get such helpful response.
My information is limited on firebirds as far as the models before 1993 go but after that the drivetrain is fairly interchangeable between the same year camaros I believe. The 3.8 V6 models get fairly good mileage and are a good plate form for mods, the cars handle quite well stock and don't go for too much. This information applies to both cars. Depending on your budget the LT1 cars arnt too bad either, I forget the mileage numbers but they arnt bad, I know the LS1 models (fairly expensive, aluminum engine and heads) get 17 city and 22 highway which is pretty good for a 300-350 hp motor.
Don't bother with the 3.4 V6 models, I think they are a different engine from the 3.8 and are garbage. The 3.8 puts out around 200 hp which isn't bad and mods are easy to come by but it gets hard after the 275 mark I think. Sitting in my 2000 camaro the way they vehicles are is strange at first, like riding a skate board but as far as driver and passenger space goes its roomy, forget about the back passengers though. If you can find a 93-2002 camaro or firebird for cheap I would recommend it from personal experience.

I'd imagine you want a fun DD and being a car guy you want to have a cool car that looks good and performs good too, bound to throw some money into it down the road. From the cars you listed the supra would not be a good choice due to being older but would appreciate the money you throw at it (ex: 1000 in it would work better than 1000 in a geo metro). the thunderbirds are okay, never been a fan but they have a FR layout and I think there is a market for them so mods wouldn't be too bad. The Berlinetta looks like my friends Lumina which is a POS that he wants to dump cash into, from what he tells me it's fast and popular but from what I see it looks far too domestic. My friend has a ford probe and its a not too bad car, he has had to dump a lot of money into it for repairs though, no real experience so I can't offer much opinion, they are front wheel drive but look quite sporty. No experience with BMWs to offer a good opinion other than I think maintinence is expensive and most owners are douches.
Just my two cents
[editline]11th February 2013[/editline]
I think only the YouTube.com links work with media tags and not the youtu.be
Thanks for all the advice, and you got what I want from a car right to the letter!
I'll take all your advice into consideration before making a purchase. Have to agree about the BMW people being douches.. but I still find them likable
[editline]ddd[/editline]

THE CARS of course, not the douches.

Hell yes I can
First off, call that bitch by its real name -- The 1991 Chevrolet Beretta GTZ. Why you said it like that I have no idea, but that shit's weird, yo!
Now, onto some info. The GTZ was literally THE best Beretta produced. It featured the best GM four-cylinder engine of the time -- the High Output version of the Oldsmobile Quad-4. It's a 2.3 liter DOHC (chain-driven -- keep that shit in check!) that puts out 180 horsepower and 160 ft-lbs of torque, and it's a fucking hoss. All GTZs came with a Getrag 5-speed as base, but were available in auto if you weren't man enough to handle driving stick.
They also were equipped with ehat Chevrolet was dubbing the "FE7 Sport Package" or some shit, it was essentially stiffer suspension bushings and front + rear sway bars, which don't really do much. The car has a dead axle instead of independent suspension in the rear, which leads to a lot of tripodding in hard corners. Despite feeling like a boat sometimes, though, the Beretta handles well.
It's got a lot of room inside despite looking quite small from the outside, which is a big plus if you're a larger guy. If not, it's still kind of nice, and doesn't feel too spacey (which can bother me, I don't know about some other people).
At the time the GTZ was THE best handling FWD car your money could buy, so that's gotta account for something. They get around 25ish miles to the gallon on average so they're not TERRIBLE on gas considering the power you get in return (and how much they weigh!). If you plan on getting a nice set of wheels of any sort, you'll be hard pressed to find many that fit the tiny bolt pattern (it's 4x4.25"/4x108mm) without being the wrong offset (old Chrysler RWD, Volvo, Ferrari huehue, all wrong offset!). Most suspension parts and whatnot interchange with the Beretta's sister car, the Corsica, which is a 4-door variant of the Beretta with slightly different panels.
The main killer if anything gets messed up is the big bad LGO

It's a killer engine, and '91 will be one of the best years (89-92 they made the most power but were also the most noisy, they changed up the balance shafts and such later but it killed output by 10hp!). But if anything goes wrong, the only thing I know the same is the head casting and block casting. The camshafts, rods, crank, and pistons are exclusive to the LGO and it should only run on 91 octane or higher due to the high compression ration it has (10:1 or something around that). It's a finicky beast and hard to maintain but it pays off.
Also change the timing chain, guides, and tensioner EVERY 75k MILES. This is where most people kill the Quad 4. Don't kill a rare high performance engine with poor maintenance!
That's about all I've got for now. I love Berettas and Corsicas, so if you ever need any info just ring me up. My body is ready.

That was weird, never heard of PUI but I apologize for last night, didn't think I caused that much trouble
but nevertheless sorry.
PUI should honestly only be bannable if the person is being an ass, but I guess that's hard to regulate. and you caused no trouble, it's just a bannable offense apparently.

As soon as I saw that guy's post, I thought "inb4 bradley".
So much snow here, we're drifting around every corner and turn, from red lights to roundabouts, to and from work, lunch and the lumberyard.
Can't wait for march and my own license!

Haha, wow. Now I really want that Beretta.
Sadly there's been an engine swap, to a weaker 140HP v6 and I don't know what engine it is precisely yet.
And another negative is that it is indeed automatic, I prefer manual.. but American cars here very rarely come in manual.
I'll check out what engine is in it for now, but it'll probably be quite anticlimactic after your passionate post. :v:
The V6 is going to be a 60-degree angle GM V6, and those are garbage. If you treat them really well, or just generally rebuild one using better bits, you can get a good one. But in any sort of stock form it's a boat anchor and should be avoided. The automatic was also a terrible 3-speed automatic that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies.
All in all: They ruined the car by removing the LGO, and now it's worth practically nothing.

Because 2 minutes with a shovel would have been too much work.
So as some of you might remember I failed my exam the first time, And I had to wait an entire month to try again. But some awesome dude might get me a spot next week. So happy :v:

4" isn't really worth shoveling
4" isn't really worth shoveling
totally worth it
if it's <8" you shouldn't even bother thinking about shoveling
I kinda bought a new car....
