Me and a Mini clubman kinda stuck together wile I was going home, weaving in and out of traffic. Its funny as fuck to see a mini swerve in and out of lanes not having any roll what so ever. +1 for going to the same campus used for welding and automotive classes.
So I decided to play around with the 1-2-3 shifter gears on my car today and it's kinda fun, I just wish there was a clutch (and I didn't need it to be in third to reach 30mph without pushing 4k RPM...and that it was a '72 Beetle)
Were you driving it like it was a manual? Like going from 1st then slamming it to 2nd and 3rd? If so, those gears aren't for that. Those are for locking the gear when trying to get unstuck in the mud or something, or when going down hills so your car doesn't take off. Those gears really aren't meant for someone to shift into them as if the car was a manual.
automatics aren't meant for driving why not automate everything and just get a taxi
Lol Ur wrong.
He might be wrong in some peoples minds, but if you look at it to a pasific point that if you use knows gears to change the cars gearing regularly it might harm the transmission. There not ment to be used to select which gear to go to, there for "Limiting" the highest gear for it to go to. As if I you put it into "2" you will be limited to no higher than 2nd gear at 12,200rpms going 63 mph that will result in a blown engine. If you want to fuck around with it, use the tiptronic selections aka Move the gear shifter to the right of the D to were it has + -. There you can have all the fun in the world and not have to worry about over revving your shit. [editline]df[/editline] Also the new XL1 from VW looks like sex of a hybrid. 261mpg Im okay with this. I can only imagine how much fun that rear wheel arch(?) would be in the winter
http://boards.4chan.org/o/res/7631548 Explain
hahaha what the hell
and by fun i mean misery

Sign me up!
I believe the wheel arch cover is easily removable. If you ever want to. Also I also believe its a RWD Hybrid. So I would shit bricks if I see that drifting around in the snow on those hybrid Model T tires.
Unless I'm mistaken the pcm isnt going to let you shift into a gear that will fuck your engine over.
To my knowledge the transmission wont shift down into a over revving gear, but it will try to go to the lowest possible and if the computer is slightly stupid it will shift into that gear. But if your in 1st and the selector is in 2nd It will not shit past 2nd no matter what, and let you rev your shit as much as possible. On the other hand TipTronic mode is almost like above, but handing a helping hand of letting you shift on the red line automatically so human stupidity wont hard your engine.
my 21 year old mercedes let you drive it like a stick even though it was an autotragic it did not have tiptronic and the trans lasted for 170k miles
I dislike it the most when your own family discredits your hard work. "Oh why don't you just buy your GF's S13 since yours is just broken?" "I want to buy you a car so you won't have to work so hard." "Your car is just broken, period." Never will anyone understand auto enthusiast life if you're not one
my mom was trying to tell my my pontiac was a lemon because I was breaking it going 60 down dirt roads. Excellent logic. She also thought me and my dad 'swapped it to all wheel drive or something' when we changed the oil.

Even if I'm not one myself, they don't discredit the stuff I do to my own car. In fact, they offer to help pretty often.
Do you guys know any reliable sites for VW parts? (specifically Jetta) I'm looking for a replacement washer fluid pump, I'd like to get some prices on them (friend is coming over to verify it's the pump tomorrow, just being prepared because nothing is leaking or frozen and it's been 50+ degrees for a few days now)
Did this happen after you let it freeze?
Once again, it didn't freeze.

I was looking in the Cavalier's manual to see how long it should go between oil changes, and stumbled across this:
If your engine catches fire because you keep driving with no coolant, your vehicle could be damaged
No shit, eh?
Girlfriends dad got hit today by a comcast work van. Luckily he was driving his ridiculous tank of an SUV a Ford Expedition. Guess he was right of his claims if he was in an accident he was going to win. Probably could have avoided it in something smaller and more nimble.
Once again, it didn't freeze.
You said like 2 pages ago that the reservoir froze. I don't know why I try to help you.
