Should I get a cold air intake for my car? It's really tempting, but the whole water issue puts me off of it
Should I get a cold air intake for my car? It's really tempting, but the whole water issue puts me off of it
Please elaborate on these water issues. I'd like to get one for my car as well, and now you've got me worried.
ThermalArc you know you gotta hook up your AA buddies when you get mad doe right. get that paper?
Please elaborate on these water issues. I'd like to get one for my car as well, and now you've got me worried.
With cold air intakes, there's a chance you could get water in your intake and it'll get sucked up into the engine, and it could severely fuck shit up. I've heard it's not a common thing though, and it'll only happen if you're driving on flooded roads or through deep puddles [editline]8th October 2012[/editline] And I was planning on getting this one: http://www.amazon.com/69-7060TS-Typhoon-Intake-Complete-Silver/dp/B000C3YTBG/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1349753614&sr=1-1&keywords=69-7060TS I like how you can configure it from cai to sri, i need some outside opinions though
I decided to go with a civic. Cheap on gas and reliable for the time being until I can figure out what I want.
Getting K&N cold air set up... is like throwing money away. You'll get same results if you just look around and make your own.
ThermalArc you know you gotta hook up your AA buddies when you get mad doe right. get that paper?
4 years 'til my PhD is over yup
I like how you can configure it from cai to sri, i need some outside opinions though
You pretty much answered your own question. It's good to upgrade from conventional box housing filter. You have to get more upgrades though so you can really see the CAI/SRI shine. That's going along the lines of an N/A machine. If anything the gains are negligent and subjective. Get a K&N box filter and call it a day. IMO I'd spend it on suspension components/replacing worn parts.
But my car will sound better >:( And I've already ordered myself a box filter a few hours ago, this is just something I may do 5-6 months from now
But my car will sound better >:( And I've already ordered myself a box filter a few hours ago, this is just something I may do 5-6 months from now
Not really lol. Getting high-flow filter and using stock tube is so close imo waste of doe you could spend it something better for upgrades ie, human comforts: replacing blown bushings, getting more interior stuff. if engine upgrades: maybe get new cooling system stuff to double check you dont die at the side of the road etc. but if you must go get CAI/SRI. geteem G360
The intake system is going to be the first of many, i just wanted to start with something simple and not too expensive. I still gotta fix up the little things on my car first, my car's gonna sound and look like a ricer with just the cai/sri :v:
Home depot, or just modify your stock intake. I ripped out the silencer in my truck, and the intake already pulls out of the fender. I did buy a K&N filter though...
getting sweet fuckall Once you've done a internship, that's when you know what a negro's life used to be like
i have an internship right now :P
I feel like you and I have the same objectives for our car.
I mostly want to fix everything up, get some decent rims and maybe some new headlights, and turn it into a sleeper car What would you guys recommend as a good start to making my car a sleeper? I'm willing to do anything as long as it doesn't involve replacing the engine
What would you guys recommend as a good start to making my car a sleeper? Gonna do a hidden turbo and take everything chrome in my bay and paint it matte black to make it look OEM. Lower it on good suspension, use OEM looking wheels. High-flow cat and quiet but high-flow exhaust. Slightly tint the windows enough so people can't directly see inside. Don't sticker up the outside? Paint it a null color Wait you have an Altima. It's already sleeper. Just don't get huge chrome rims.
Well, that's obvious But what surprised me is such an old movie like Boyz N The Hood having been paid by Nissan has so much product placement/subliminal messaging its crazy to think they've been doing these techniques for quite some time now. lol look whats in the shot for a good couple of minutes: I've also heard the new Avengers movie has Acura all over it
Yeah I've noticed that too. I think Quentin Tarantino has a Honda fetich, because there's tons of Hondas in his movies. The three girls in Death Proof, they drive a red Civic EK Hatch. And in Pulp Fiction, they drive a little first gen Honda Civic, and this other dude drives an NSX
i added a cold air intake to accord, vroom vroom now. Sounds like a monster it shouldn't be.
I have never liked the sound of 4 bangers. I just can't see the appeal
either you get it, or you don't.
i certainly enjoy the sound of my 4 banger
My 3 banger sounds pretty awesome
I wanna learn more about cold air intakes.. I want to eventually put one on my focus, but what are the upsides n downsides.. and what are some good brands? What should I look for?

^nice video Oopali I love that channel but yeah see its negligible unless you're doing extremmmeee durrrg rassseee mang like this guy with yellow painted rims and sikkk flames on his vette I saw down the street:
for regular street cold air is just for the sound. Anyone who runs around saying extreme hp gains or HP GAIN BRO at all is dumb.
