Holy shit your insurance is nuts. My motorcycle insurance was going to be fucking 50 bucks a month added onto my trucks insurance and that was a 650.
Toronto is a bitchcunt for insurance if you're under 23, because it's the largest city in the country, therefore lots of accident possibilities or some such crap, and because I'm young, apparently if I get anything larger than a 250 they assume that I'll go screaming down Yonge Street at mach 5, slamming into everything there is. I mean I legit got a quote on a 550 for $5555, and on a 1200 BMW, whose cost was only $2100, of $23,000/year for insurance. It's insane.
fuck i dunno he goes over a bump in those things and they'll pop
Actually the load rating on that size of tire is in the 80s, meaning around 1000lbs and upwards of load. So you could run them on a car just fine, really. Many cheaper 13 and 14 inch tires are around that same load rating (or less!), so it is no different than running stock wheels with some decent 14s. In fact I think it's really cool myself, they look... Pretty badass.
I doubleflattened a tire today Valve stem and nail :v: That was annoying...
Getting a flat always sucks. I'd say I know the feeling but I've never really gotten a flat. The one time I did I just swapped to another set of rims I planned on using anyways.
My rear demister doesn't quite work. *Random image off google* During winter I noticed when using it to defrost ice that about 2/5 of the way up a patch of ice wasn't melting so I'm guessing a few of those strips aren't working. Same happens with mist. How do you go about fixing/replacing these things?
Hopefully going to go look at (and buy) a second Beetle this weekend.. Guy says he got it off an older gentleman who parked it about 15 years ago - says it turns over, doesn't start. It's only $500 and it's the same year as mine so i figure worst case i'll cannibalize some parts off it and re-sell it to get my money back or, hopefully, be able to get it running and have a second running Beetle.. It's a bit beat, the paint is eh (no surprise), one of the front fenders has been replaced, the rear decklid has been replaced.. All little things that don't bother me, really. He says he has replaced plugs, wires, distributor (hopefully just cap/rotor/points, if he changed out the SVDA for a 009 i'll be upset) and condenser but the engine won't start. sight unseen, i'm hopeful it's either a power wire rotted/got chewed/whatever or the fuel pump is kapoot (both easy/cheap to fix things). really, for $500 i can't go wrong. it'd be nice to think the pans and heater channels aren't too rusty since it's been stored in a garage the last 15-20 years but you never know. i'd go look at it tomorrow but the guy hasn't e-mailed me back and i'd really, really hate to waste 2+ hours and $30 just in gas to go look at it. i'd like to be certain i'm going to buy it, go rent a car carrier from u-haul and go pick it up.. it'd only be $55 for the day to rent the car carrier if i were to get it up here and return it up here as opposed to renting it down there and returning it up here fffff i want this guy to get back to me. i don't want to be a pest but i'm thinking i'll e-mail him again tomorrow late morning/early afternoon if he doesn't get back to me by then. i've got $500 cash in my wallet right now from working with my dad's buddy saturday, sunday and monday so i'll be rather unhappy if it disappears - unlikely though since i've been keeping an eye on it for a couple weeks already now edit: oh god i've already become the crazed aircooled volkswagen nut that buys all the cars he can('t) afford/has(n't) the space for! what have i done?!?/!

Some people, damn.... Had some guy come into our shop today. Claimed that he was on the phone with our assistant manager and worked out some kind of discount. When i went to the tanks to go pump some oil (needed about 6 quarts) I got to about 4 quarts and the automatic pump started foaming out oil, meaning that the tank was low on oil. I retrieved the hand pump and just about bathed in oil since using the hand pump and holding the jug up to the pump is pretty hard for one person. When I went back to the car, the owner was standing in front of the car watching everything. He looked at my oil and said it looked weird (it was kinda foamy and bubbly from the automatic pump). My assistant manager came up to us and explained to him that it's alright, the oil has some some anti-dispersants that get rid of the foam/bubbles etc etc but afterwards the customer said "this oil still looks weird, I want different oil". I went back to the tanks to hand pump another 6 quarts of oil (luckily my assistant manager helped me). Finally get the oil, and add it to the car. 10 minutes later, he comes back out, asking for my assisant manager and telling his wife (who was in the car) that "they're addin on some stupid extra costs". Eventually everything got sorted out and they left pretty pissed. tl;dr overly-paranoid people are annoying as shit [editline]16th October 2012[/editline] i swear, it's like they think we're pissing into their engines and charging them for it
there was an interior-less 240sx in our auto shop today somehow the quarter panels were not dented.
Also today a lady gave us a case of halloween-themed cookies, it was pretty badass

That and I get asswads like this all the time where I work. Still not sure why I haven't picked up some applications yet, I nearly got fired for not having my name tag.

my buddy who wrecked his tiburon bought another. which I don't mind, especially since the new one is a stick. but the first things he wants to do is straightpipe the exhaust and put a short shifter on it... FRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT cannon
lol well, they can't be that expensive or hard to get, right? :v:
nah, not a huge deal, just checked on the interwebs and they're like $20 which is amazing considering that it's german, I was expecting an at least $9000 repair. probably over that. shit, pageking emergency content: BRE 240Z from Sebring last year and a silly porsche come on porsche what are you doing you need a bumper just like everyone else
Heh, the only expensive car to repair that I've got is American
Guy with $500 bug got back to me.. Sucks though because I'd rather go out there this Saturday but he's going to be "gone" from Friday until Sunday this weekend and be coming back Monday. I really don't want to make the trip today (or any weekday really) but I may be able to weasel it in tomorrow since I don't really think there's much "work" on the board to be done tomorrow it just sucks that he's an hour away, if he was 20 minutes away I would have no problem just shooting out there tonight but given that if i want to go out there with a u-haul car carrier it's going to take at least 3-4 hours round trip between getting the trailer, driving down, looking at it/hopefully buying it and driving back up (and it's mi madre's birthday today so that would be kind of a dick move, disappearing all night n shit) whatever, like i said maybe i'll be able to convince my pops to go down there with me tomorrow. since it doesn't run, if i do buy it (which is morel ikely than not), it'd be a huge pain in the ass to get it on the trailer alone even with a come-along so it'd be nice if i could swindle him into taking the ride with me

http://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/3331949220.html Y/N? Not my ideal Camaro (would rather have 350 w/ manual, but eh), but how does this look to you guys? My dad has connections, so we can get a paintjob for not too much.
Stay away from 305s, go for one with a 350. But if you have to get a 305, get one with a 5 speed. I was looking at third gen camaroes for a year before I gave up and fixed up my own car, so I know some about them. Did you look at this one? http://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/3276789156.html
Yeah, I saw that one. It's at the roof of my price range though, but it just seems like a much better choice now. [editline]17th October 2012[/editline] http://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/3250177127.html http://peoria.craigslist.org/cto/3272311317.html http://decatur.craigslist.org/cto/3337051978.html These were some other ones I saw. I was mostly looking for under $2000.
Nothing wrong with the 305. Just a de-bored 350, gets SLIGHTLY better mileage than the 350, and matched the mileage of the manual 305 too with the 700R4 4-speed automatic. Stay away from that TBI 350 -- It's junk. You need a special intake manifold to swap them to carb and you'd have to completely change the heads to change to proper SFI/MPFI. The TBI had injectors that barely gave the engine any fuel, even with a set of TBI 454 injectors you're getting less cc per cylinder than stock tuned-port. Not to mention the TBI was incredibly well known for catching fire (It is the successor and/or sister injection system to Crossfire injection, the notorious Corvette firebug). The 305 is a fine little engine, easier to find for cheap cheap cheap than the 350, if you ever blow it sky high. And they came in literally anything with a V8 in the 80s, so even a pickup motor or similar would drop right in and is the same exact build. The one Siminov linked is great, except for that TBI. I'd order an intake to throw a 4 barrel on it and call it a day. But it's also a lot more than the one you linked. The one you linked is a great deal. Offer $1500 instead. If you have some guts, aim for $1200 or $1250. It's a fair price on what looks to be a straight F-body. Go check it out. If it's a TBI 305, though, get back in your car and drive off. That's going to end up being a boat anchor. You may as well get a different motor to drop in at that point unless you want it to be stock forever or dump way too much money into a motor not worth it.
