Holy shit.. They just called me and said it would be ANOTHER $700 because I need new rotors, calipers and pads on the front wheels.
This is fucking bullshit
I'm no expert, but I've watched loads of brake repair/replacement videos and that sounds like a LOT.

Shops always overcharge for brakes. Dude, just buy your rotors online at rockauto or something, then get duralast pads at autozone. You could do that whole job yourself for under $150 if you're frugal.
Yeah I told them just to do the rear breaks cause I don't want to deal with drum breaks but disk breaks are easy so I'll just go buy new parts tomorrow and install myself
breaks
He's right, I've never done it before but it looks simple. Can't say anything about bleeding the brakes because I know nothing about it (Not required if you're just changing the pads and discs). And the parts are fairly cheap when ordering online.
You could just buy a rotor, a caliper, and the pads for half the cost they are asking.

hell my calipers are like 40 bucks each. Thank you single pistons for being so damn cheap.
Agh, the throttle cable in my rubbish Opel is annoying, it doesn't stick but the pedal is pretty hard to push down, which means getting the right revs can be a tad difficult.
I want drive by wire D:

Bleeding is easy; pop the master cylinder cap, loosen the caliper bleeding valve, pump the brakes until only fluid comes out, tighten the bleeder, top off the reservoir, repeat on next side.
So I don't have to bleed off the rear brakes if I only replace the front brakes right?
Usually to properly bleed you need to start from the furthest bleed valve to the closest one to the master cylinder.
It's actually that easy? I thought you had to use tubes and bottles and everything so no air was sucked back up into the brake lines.

Naw, you just use tubes to catch the fluid and it allows you to see when there's finally no air. If you didn't give a shit you could just loosen the bleeder and pump fluid all over your brakes and call it a day.
I've learned something today. Thanks.
you really don't want brake fluid.. anywhere, except in your lines
What part of mass do you live in? I'm in northern Connecticut like pretty much in Mass on that little notch thing
I live in New Hampshire, give or take 15 minutes from the Mass border.
glad i got paid today because i'm currently looking at spending ~all my money~ on this new car. it's awful because i can spend $60 and wait until Thursday, be able to sort out wiring over the weekend + Monday and have near nothing to do until that stuff arrives or pay $120 and have everything Tuesday and be able to get shit done all week
decisions, decisions..
And your eyes.

and my axe
didnt finish exhaust :<
sunday I gotta find a way to tighten the connection from crossover pipe to cat so it doesnt leak, shorten a connecting bar that holds it in place, and figure out a way to hold it up.
How bad is it that my exhaust dumps 3 inches in front of my rear tire?
Make it a sidepipe
I have no content so I'll put up a pic of my freshly waxed car tomorrow :3

"We need another $700 to fix your front breaks"
"OK I'll just do them my self"
" we can't pass the inspection then."
...
When I go to pick up my car
"We passed the inspection anyway"
And my bill was 930 instead of the 719 they originally quoted. One of the worst auto shops I've seen, worse than Canadian tire.
And now I found out there is someone I work with who's son is a mechanic who would have helped me.
Fuck. Oh well at least I can insure my car now
I failed my first test for going 40 in a 35. Watch them speed limits.
I feel like we've had this conversation before.

When I had my pads done it was £70 for the parts and labour, plus a guarantee for the lifetime of the car.
Calipers are much more expensive, but if you pick them up from a scrapyard you'd probably be looking at paying £100 for a set rather than £80 per caliper. Sounds to me like you got ripped off hard. I would have got at least one second opinion.
everything related to bolts, nuts and threads in general are more simple and less retarded in imperial.
Trust me, I do the math almost everyday
Today I launched a rocket.
