Bought myself a new car last night, had my eye on the particular model for a while, finally found a nice example so I snapped it up.

Got the 2.0L version since it's supposedly got the best balance of power and weight of the three engine choices. Took it on a nice long testdrive, but the one thing I did notice is that the biting point on the clutch is very high. Do you think this is just a trait of the car, or a sign of a worn out clutch?
First registered late 2008 and 30k miles on the clock, as long as it's been looked after (and given the condition, it seems it has) the clutch should still have a long time left in it I'd have thought.
By the way, hate on the badge all you like, but these are pretty nice cars underneath, with cheap insurance to boot. For what I paid, I could have bought a nice Porsche or Audi, but those would cost me a whole lot more to insure at 19 years old with 2 years NCB. I haggled to get them to add an extra year onto the warranty, so if it is worn out it should be covered under that.
Upgrading from a 52 plate 1.2 Fiat Punto, which decided to blow it's head gasket last week and now makes a very good kettle, but isn't of much use otherwise.

It's pretty much a sign that the clutch is worn, either it's the teeth on the clutch plate, or the clutch release bearing that is done.
(or perhaps the hydraulic clutch release should be aired out?)
I dont really know how the clutch works on one of those i must admit.
But really nice car man, looking forward for more pictures and posts.

Yeah, it might just need bleeding. I'll mention it to the dealer and get them to check it out. Reading on owners forums seems to suggest there's a spring that dampens the clutch engaging that exacerbates the already high biting point.

Thanks! Been after one of these for about 18 months, taken me a while to save up and find a nice one.
Gonna give it a nice clean then drive up Forest of Bowland way and take some photos next weekend I think... :v:

so what? pressure wash the windshield to clean it, treat it with rain-X? simple as that?
Use rain-x windshied washer fluid, that's it.
jesus christ black ice
Use rain-x windshied washer fluid, that's it.
easy enough. gonna have to clean it off first since the fluid I have in there doesn't cut through the dirt
Always used rain-x windshield washer, and I end up only buying 1 or 2 gal a year :v:
Headlights are done.

Now I can pretend I'm an Audi!
Next on the list of shit to do is fix my fucking foglights, get a euroswitch (literally like five seconds of work) for the lights, a badgeless grille and I've got to find some way to make it so the DRL LEDs always stay on. (when the car's on, obviously)

were you using the standard bulbs or HID ones?
I'd get HID foglamps but I have no idea where the ballast would go and I'm already having issues trying to secure the ballasts for my headlights

Tie wrap.
If you do go with HID for the fogs, 10000% use a relay harness. (personally I recommend using one even on headlights). Otherwise you could fry the pigtails when the bulbs turn on (ballasts need around 150-175W to start, but only 35W to run.)
For mounting I just use 3M 4011 HD exterior Tape (Strong as shit, holds at least 5 lbs) OR even better (not as easy to find) is 3m VHD 4991F (The stuff they use on Go-Pro mounts, rated to like 200mph).
Also new ballasts came in. I R happy. Old ones still work, but got the new ones 1/2 price.
