About to buy my first car,
Thinking of getting a 2002 Audi A4 (Sedan) and preferably the Quattro edition, Really loving the car as my dad owns the station-wagon version of it. Budget is 7500$ MAX.

I'm not an expert on the area of cars so I'm wondering if anyone could perhaps recommend me some other cars like it. And if possible tell me if the Audi A4 is a good pick.

If it helps at all, I drive a VW Passat from the same year (they're virtually identical because vw group etc etc etc) and my recommendation is that you get the fuck out of that car.
B6 series A4s are reasonably classy, fun to drive and safe, too. I drive the FWD 4cyl version and I still love it, I can only imagine how nice it'd be with quattro and perhaps a larger engine.

also please don't lower it, if you do get it. dear god.
[SUB][SUP]not to imply that you would or anything[/SUP][/SUB]

Resident Audi owner here.
Only time I suggest getting a Audi is when you eather ;
1) Get anything you want from your parents.
2) Have a well paying job and can manage money, like put some back on the side every month.
That sayed I'm not all "these cars suck ass" but shit will happen and shit will be expensive.
List of things That has happened (in the period of time I have owned it ~2 years);
Timing belt kit. = 160$ + the 180$ cam lock tool
2x Valve Cover Gasket = 120$ each
Rear Main seal = 10$
Control Arm's = 400$
Tranny flush = 140$
In my opinion if you believe you can keep up maintenance on it, "Buy it and you will be proud of it."
Also 18" RS6's with those centercaps look REALLY GOOD.

DP: NOPE
брэдли: Uh
брэдли: Firstly
брэдли: It's a fucking Mk1 vw it's going to have rust
брэдли: Secondly
брэдли: That widebody kit is extremely rare
брэдли: and turning your nose up at a rare widebody Scirocco means you're not even a VW guy
брэдли: Stop working on and/or owning german cars please
;_; Bye beautiful vw's.
From everything I heard in the car club, audis are a bitch to work on.

stay away from german cars unless you live in europe, you'll pay out the ass for maintenance/repairs if you live in North America

Chicago is an awesome city, big and yet very clean+nice
At least in the areas that aren't the ghetto, but even then there are worse ghettos out there lol

cyl logic
i like how you quoted that instead of the chicago post
all i know about chicago is from the blues brothers and ferris bueler so i guess ive got some learning to do
my A4 was my second car
bitches love it, it's hella classy but it will cost you a stupid amount to keep it maintained
mine's got a minor coolant leak, and last time i got it on a lift and took off the 10 fucking screws holding on the skidplate, i was met with some pretty decent engine sweat. :c
not excited for the $3000 it's going to cost me to repair everything
It's fun to have mechanic contacts, having rebates just about everywhere and doing a bunch of DIY, everything costs way less!

This guy is so badass. Would like to rock Rocket Bunny on my S13 when I am rich one day
He's like a real life Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop

What exactly do you mean by that, To get it or not to get it?

Well I love my parents but they only paid for my drivers licence (Which I'm insanly glad for since a drivers licence can cost like 2500$ here in Holland.)
The car ect. and everything is paid for by myself, I've saved up the past year for a car and I've got a relatively good job considering my age (18 and 10$/hour). Next to that I've got my own little business running making a nice amount of money.

I parked mine for the winter 3 weeks ago. Checked on it a couple days ago, still stood fine. Some pics of it in there,

It's in a 9 degree Celsius huge container garage. There's a couple boats and an old Chevy in there too. And a Ford, I think.

My cousin need to drop the trans on his 1uz celica 85 and I need to drop the rear subframe/gaztank/diff and replace all four coils, among other small stuff
we will take the winter as a useful timespan
While you guys are putting away your cars for the winter, which I imagine is a bitter-sweet feeling. I am still searching for my first.

Somehow this Plymouth Volaré decided to stay hidden until I broadened my search quite a bit.
This goes for about 4200USD but it also has a few more issues than the Valiant Signet.
It's at a mere 136HP as well.
Plymouth Volare -76 with "slant six" (straight slant six) of 3.7 L with carburetors and exhaust pipes with good bounce. Three speed automatic that shifts smoothly and nicely and have functioning kickdown. initiation of rust repair to the floor, needs welded some more. the car works just fine as it took me to and from Västerås Power Meet 2012 with no problems, also passed cruising 9 hours each day during the meeting in the blazing sunshine so it has no heat issues. The interior has way better days but it's nice to drive and ride.
rims will be black when the car is sold.
rims are sandblasted and painted the firm with real car paint. bakfälgarna are GENUINE SHELBY rims from a 60-speakers and are worth 2000 SEK each and the rims are american racing, worth SEK 1,000 each. so the rims are världa 6000kr together.
The car is unfortunately rollad matt black by previous owner, but it is smooth and fine anyway.
some haggling available. I have storage at home so I have not in a hurry to get rid of the car but came with a sensible bid if you are interested.
Trade to other Yank V8 is of course interesting.
Not sure about this one, will contact him later and see what other prices he's up for.
For some reason I think I've heard slant-sixes are supposed to be easily tuned, am I right or is it wishful thinking?

[editline] I do [/editline]
I do hope you tell me if you find these posts annoying, I'll try to calm down with them for a while now.
Just a drop a 440 in dude. You'll get like 9 mpg but gas isn't that bad in Europe anyway right?
I know that old cars are a lot easier to work on in most aspects but I wouldn't be able to do a full engine swap on my Benz, or any other car for that matter, because I don't have any mechanical skills, other than "well that's broken, let's disassemble it and see if I can make it work" and if it doesn't work, I'll try to get it to work. Doing something like a trans replace or engine swap and my brain would explode.
not that I'd want an engine swap though, haha.
Engine swaps are like, unbolt this and that, unplug that and that, pull it out, and do reverse with other engine. Just have to know what to unbolt :v:

I'd love to but.. I just can't afford it.

depend if you,re swapping for the same engine or doing a conversion.
depend if you,re swapping for the same engine or doing a conversion.
Yeah, depending once again if it's a common or a uncommon one.
