I found a 1994 Nissan Altima with a KA24DE Engine in it with 200k miles
5-speed manual transmission
All for $500
Going to call the guy in a bit
Hope there isn't too much wrong with it.
Needs a new battery and new tires for sure.
Anything I need to know about a the engine or car in general?
About the engine: BHG
About the car: Junk
lol apparently two of my bellhousing bolts are already loose.
This was the case the whole time.........

Why and why?
How nuts would it be if I did a 3K-R swap on my 86?
Toyota 3K-R

This engine was produced around 1977 and was a apt race engine
An average 3K-R engine makes a massive 180BHP @ 9000 rpm with only 1.3 liters of volume, Nuts!
If any engine could get up to the 19000 rpm and beyond that I want, it might just be this one!
I'll have fun finding parts for it though!

[editline]Oh[/editline]
Oh, it's an Altima. Dude, at least get an S13. But for $500 it's strictly beater car.
If anything the engine's dead because people tend to rev it to oblivion with the manual trans cars. (Hint, they can't handle high RPM). Thankfully, the KA engines have lots of aftermarket support and everyone with an S13 has had one in the US so info and like-minded people are abundant. But if I were you, you could get a better shell (240sx) for a bit more with the same engine
Why and why?
Engine is notorious BHG monster, car is a terrible chassis with terrible suspension and has a terrible gearbox mated to the engine as well.
On the plus side, it's a little bit of power in a FWD when it is running. I can think of no other plus side.
Price is right though if it needs something small.

I'm pretty strapped for cash and all of the S13/240SX are triple the price of this car.
Find out what's wrong with it.

test drove this tonight: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/cto/3409151992.html
i've already had a check cut
dealer maintained, last service was inspection II at bmw of rockville
every service, minor and major, has been taken care of, and I'm getting a PPI done tomorrow just as a formality
also I felt really bad for the dude....his brother has cancer, and he is selling the car to give him some money
Sometimes you find those stories a little fishy...but this was genuine, and I did not feel like he needed to be haggled with.
Buy it, guy needs money and it looks great.
Yeah, it's a couple grand under what you'd pay for it as far as book value, not a terrible deal by any means if it's as clean as those over-HDR'd photos make it out to be.

its cleaner
like i was stunned at how clean it is
Driving home last night got on my street then suddenly "POP", Didn't know what that was looked inside the bay and did rev's everything is alright.
Today I noticed my back right tire is low. Hopefully don't have to replace it. Was going to hold it off for one more month then just replace all 4 just in time for winter.
When I was about to go fill up the van with diesel I heard this sound from the left-front of the dashboard.
Vid: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9jpoo2450bm895k/movie_278312.mp4
I think I heard it a couple of times when I was sitting there idling, but when I started driving I only heard it once (if I heard it at all)
Starting next week (since this week is over for school) I am going to start tagging people for speeding between classes at different schools.
There is NO reason to speed 70+ in a 45.

Good stuff; must be nice to have a genuine, non-shite, working DD.
Needs a little tune up as any used cars, but that's nothing much, runs fine, gets a darned good economy compared to my other 3800, gets about 29-30mpg. Radio sounds boss, interior is perfect, the Head up display is fucking awesome, everything electric, and works, a/c and all shit works. Only has 60k miles, the paint ain't perfect, but it's way better than my red one, barely has any rust, has a little crack on the front bumper, but no big deal over the body. Survived 600km so far, so good. (I'm still stressed as usual, because that's a nice expense, and there's always the buyers remorse and like, being scared of having bought a car with a lot of things to do, more than what I had already planned to do on my other car / any new car I buy.
Need to get it winter tires tho, but I needed a set for my other car too, so it was a planned expense.
Gonna do a whole top end gasket, plugs, inj, wires redo, because I like knowing it has nice gaskets, and it's like, 250$ to do the whole job so, why not? This is like, something I'd do on any used car I'd buy, more so on 3800 because the LIM is a pos from the factory.
lmao this is genius
