Thanks!
Honestly I have to say that I've never done as much research about something as I have the Beetle. It's a shame that there's literally only Super Beetles here in Maryland - which are scary, because I don't want highway jitters!
lost all will to work on the supra.
I need money and more time...
screw that I'm going to the gym, I'll figure something out later
I go through this each time I look at my 240SX. But the reward in the end of all the hardwork is what pushes me imo. That feel of driving a manual RWD, even when the gasket was blown was still really fun. What more if it was up to spec?
I just got my paycheck; it hurts to know how much money it takes to get a car working. I have to pay insurance and all that jazz. Now trying to cut my check in pieces in order to properly purchase stuff. I want to buy my mom a camera but also repair my car. So that's rod bearings, main bearings, arp rod bolts, arp flywheel bolts, lightened flywheel, piston rings, motor mounts, trans mount.
So much money but thankfully working hard at the job to earn it all. Thinking of getting a better job or another one at the same time trying to find funds to continue my college education
you guys made 63 pages in 77 days
slow down, 85 days until license and it'd still be nice to get license before page 100
Not gunna happen bro
I love it when you can just BLAST your music in your car without being judged by others
Looking at new cars...I'm looking at these 3 right now:

Just did some math (I put numbers into a website and it did math for me..) and it turns out that I could have gotten my license December 7th had I been able to get it immediately.
:suicide:

Out of the 3 there I would pick the VW.
but for 1.2k more the focus is not that bad..
VW is the cheapest option, but it's also the most boring one available. Even it's headlights look unimpressed.
my grandmother has a 2000 jetta which seems to have held up pretty well for something that only has 39k miles (and sits most of the time)
I'm still waiting until I have enough money to buy my Ford Ranger. Such a cute little truck
I would probably avoid the Dart until more reliability scores come in. Dodge is infamous for transmission issues.

Yeah, that's the thing. Never fly the A model. And with a FIAT-powered drivetrain...
My parents have a 2012 Focus and I hate the damn thing. That car feels so cramped it's unbelievable. Even a Sentra feels more spacious.
I'd go for the dart myself. Never rode in the VW but I hear nothing but good about them.

Nissan Sentra's are pretty fucking cool for the money. That tranny hnnnnnng
My dad had one had its first 5k mile oil change and than it got totaled leaving the Nissan dealership.
I've never liked the Sentra. My sister had an old 1988 model that, to compare it to trash, would be an insult to garbage. And the newer ones look like bubbles.
I really like the look of the Kia Optima, but those things are damn pricey!
I would say instead of buying a new car, buy a pre owned 4 year old car, you can get more for your money that way.
Honestly I dislike all three.
I looked through 15000-20000 $ cars on carmax, all with stick shifts, all coupes.
06 RX8 49k $14998
12 VW Jetta S 8k $14998
04 Ford Mustang GT 49k $14998
08 Mazda 3S 48k $14998
07 BMW 328i 55k $19599

Why are you looking at brand new cars, there were at least 20 BMW's you could buy for the same price.
Why are you looking at brand new cars, there were at least 20 BMW's you could buy for the same price.
Expensive to insure, expensive to maintain. I'd love an E46, but what I'd save in sale price would be made up in repairs and other related bills pretty quickly.
Are you looking for something fun, something practical, or both? Do you want something brand new or would you be okay with one from recent years? Is there a specific number of doors you need? Do you need cargo space or good gas mileage? Do you want a manual?
Buy a new car, lose money way faster than buying a recent used car.

Practical with the ability to be sporty. Has to have some form of manual shifting capability. Body style I don't really care about, as long as it has a solid roof. New is preferred, but would be willing to go up to 5 years back.
Buy a new car, lose money way faster than buying a recent used car.
And quite a few new cars require full synthetic oil, anything less and they start throwing hissy fits
And quite a few new cars require full synthetic oil, anything less and they start throwing hissy fits
Sit in it, it lose a lot of its value, buy it brand new, you'll be a lot of time at the stealership to get things fixed as they come, new cars aren't without problems, it just pass on the warranty, but your own time ain't covered by it.
2-3 years after, they get most of their value loss done and usually a bunch of recalls done. Good time to buy.

In that case, I'd suggest something like a Mark V or Mark VI Golf GTi. Sporty, practical, fun, recent, and a manual. I'm slightly biased because I love GTIs, but that's the first thing I thought of. Other possibilities: maybe a WRX, Mini Cooper, Civic Si, or Mazdaspeed 3.
Ridge stop looking at fuel economy and saftey and buy a something with a v8
If you are looking for sporty looking, cheap, reliable, and economical I would go with the 2012 honda civic.

Synthetic oil isn't that much more expensive, and there isn't really any reason to not use synthetic oil unless you have a rotary engine.
