i'll give batman points as a character for one thing though either of them can beat anyone depending on who's writing them, but at least batman requires more creative writing to do so
Were there people who didn't know that Death of Superman outright broke Comic Deaths.
u-uhm i didn't and you're right i don't read comics much because pretty much the only good comics are one-off stories
"Man, Superman is such a Mary Sue and OP guy! Not like Batman, who never loses any battle no matter how fucking impossible it'd be for him to win and is a super smart detective who always knows how to get out of every situation and can beat anyone with enough time to prepare."
No, not really. Yes, some writers do write him to be super powerful. Mostly in Justice League because he's meant to be one of the heavy hitters because marketing. But in most of his own stories, he's a very street level hero. Including in the movies (both the old and new series), and the Arkham games, which are undeniably his most well known appearances. Anyway, where I'm going with this is, Batman is by default a street level hero that can be, and sometimes is, written as being absolutely ridiculously bonkers powerful because ~he's smart~. Superman is an absolutely ridiculously bonkers powerful character by virtue of his very basic power set. Writing a story where he's not especially powerful while still keeping it a Superman story is exceptionally hard.
batman can easily be written into a superman-esque role and has been multiple times as far as i know, writers can just say "he made a suit that emulates superman's powers" or "he made a cool spaceship thing that lets him do everything the aliens can do"
Yeah that was sort of my point, with emphasis on the can be Superman, on the other hand, is that by the very definition of the character.

I like that, rather than being a paragon of justice or a bland super being in a gloomy edgy world. He looks more like a well meaning anti hero in this. Suddenly it becomes more about his character arch than his powers which is a very good idea, problem is that the new Superman tried that but failed because there was no character to have an arch. Seriously, the characters in that movie were just flatout poor.
Superman as concept is cool, but it would gave to be pretty well written to achieve its potential, all the being essentially god kinda jazz
He's got a pretty good point. Characters dying in comics really don't have an impact anymore, since 90% of the time they come back in another series.
Is that Frodo?
tbh if I had a super power I think I'd pick Captain Americans he's strong enough to be a super hero, and human enough to be understandable. Being super man, it would be too easy to just... kill everyone. Every Lex Luthor, or Joker, or Dr. Evildoer. Just kill em. You wouldn't have to justify yourself and no one could stop you. They'd just stop being a problem. You could just punch them and they'd be dead, it would be as easy as stepping on an ant with that strength, hell, being a god, it's pretty much the same thing. But Super Man doesn't do that, now does it? that's because he's the only man that can HAVE that kind of power. He could destroy Earth, but it never crosses his mind.
What can really be done with Superman nowadays that isn't already either covered by another superhero or hasn't been done before? We've got Superman, Superboy the douchebag, teenage Superman, asshole Superman, mullet superman, black Superman, russian Superman, robot Superman, mexican-raised teenage Superman who accidentally crippled his adoptive sister, evil Superman, evil enough to kill Captain Marvel and the Joker Superman, hypnotize my love interest onto my boner movie Superman, space-cancer Superman, silver age Superman
