Nothing will beat the pain of your brain swelling to twice it's size.
Your brain doesn't have any nerves inside it. You could stab your brain and you would not feel any pain unless you were to stab the nerve systems as they travel into it. Unless of course you are talking of the pain of the nerves being crushed outside the brain as it swells up around them.
Right. Well, lets all enjoy our time off of facepunch for flaming shall we? I know I won't be the only one who will have a good time.
What are you getting at? I said you're making the thread worse and you go and try to put the blame on other people. This is the last time I'll respond to your messages about this "making the thread worse" stuff, to avoid even more irony.
wat is that thing doing to his eye????
Looking for his car keys
There are no nerves in your eyes either but it still hurts to poke them.
Are there really no nerves in or around your eyes? If so then the only way I think this can be explained is that there are nerves surrounding your eye being crushed in the process, or your eyelid has nerves being damaged.
There actually ARE nerves in your eyes. The entire sensation of hurting comes from nerves, it's not possible to feel pain without them.
Sounds scary
Except for your brain being MADE of nerves essentially
Yeah my mistake, should have mentioned there are different types of nerves. Your brain is essentially full of nerves but these nerves are of different function to nerves which are used mostly for sensing damage and sending the signal of pain to the brain. Well, it does contain the nerves to send messages of pain BUT your brain actually has no nerve sensors for recieving the concept of pain, thus your brain does not feel pain.
Seriously, I often get headaches when I am outside or after eating bananas. And caffeine usually fixes it. I used to get chronic headaches alot at school. Sometimes it caused me to fall over in agony. That stopped when I broke my leg though. I'm scared now
Yet another tick upon the growing wall of cluster headache victims!
I think people are confusing cluster headaches with intense migraines.
I think people are confusing cluster headaches with intense migraines.
I think people are confusing cluster headaches with any sort of sensation in, around, and near their head.
I've gotten terrible headaches behind the eye but they aren't fucking cluster lolaches.
An insightful post, Plectophera.
I can probably pair them up with a lot of the symptoms. Lasted for hours and hours and hours, had them for a few months almost every day, happened when I got the slightest bit exhausted and I just buried my face in some pillows waiting for them to stop. But they weren't cluster headaches. Because.
Threads like this are interesting. The human brain is amazing.
Threads like this are interesting. The human brain is amazing.
good maths discussion thread
I find playing the computer while I have an intense headache is a better idea then immediately taking a painkiller :downs:
I can believe that the first two people had cluster headaches, sorta. But anyways, ITT: math
It wasn't a cluster headache either; cluster headaches don't stop forever. They keep reoccurring.
That's odd. The pain was exactly as a cluster headache described. Maybe it wasn't a cluster headache, but I think the strength of the pain was quite similar. Alas, it cannot be a migraine as I suffer from migraines and I can tell what's the difference between a migraine and a different headache. That said, although the pain is similar to a migraine yet more powerful, unlike my migraines the headache I felt was relieved when I looked at a source of light. Maybe it could've been an infection. Also, regarding the lack of information in my first post, I'm not obligated to post every single detail, come on.
LSD in lower doses cure cluster headaches.
Great, another thing to worry about, along side sleep paralysis and head explosions
I legitimately wonder if smoking pot could actually help at all with cluster headaches.
death by a proper hanging is caused by the neck breaking, which almost guarantees an instant death with a gun the most effective method is pointing it at the roof of your mouth
The fact that people rated this useful worries me
My old roommate had some cluster headaches a couple months back, I had to take him to the hospital for treatment. [editline]11:52AM[/editline]
I legitimately wonder if smoking pot could actually help at all with cluster headaches.
Nope.

Okay, I didn't feel like reading through all that arguing stuff so I am gonna post here and clarify a few things. 1. My Dad has Cluster Headaches thus increasing my chances of getting them as well. 2. There are headaches which can be mistaken for cluster headaches
There are other types of headache that are sometimes mistaken for cluster headaches. Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania (CPH) is a condition similar to cluster headache, but CPH responds well to treatment with the anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin and the attacks are much shorter, often lasting only seconds. Some people with extreme headaches of this nature (especially if they are not unilateral) may actually have an ictal headache. Anti-convulsant medications can significantly improve this condition so sufferers should consult a physician about this possibility. It is also possible to have two or more different types of headaches, complicating diagnosis and treatment.
3. Yes, the statistics show that the chances are extremely low, but you can't always rely on them for everything. 4. Just because you had a extreme headache doesn't mean you have cluster headaches. Like I said, there are similar ones. Stop arguing! Cluster headaches are not something to be proud of having/had. I am just informing people. Don't worry about getting them, you have a higher chance of dieing doing your everyday things than to get one of these.
What the fuck how can so many people just im FP be sufferers? Only 0.1% of the people in the world have it and 500 in the UK
