Hurricanes are different than tornadoes. Getting in a basement could be a bad idea. It's best to get to high ground. If you get a flash flood your basement could become your grave. Yeah... Though I doubt there will be much flooding with Earl. Except the coast might flood a bit.
:ohdear: That looks pretty scary. Hurricanes are usually not that bad when they reach me.
:smithicide:
Aw come on. I'm a talking pickle! Where else can you meet a talking pickle? Not wherever you were going, that's for sure.
So when is this hurricane going to hit NY? Because I have football coming up and it's pretty hot out..
Good luck son!
So when is this hurricane going to hit NY? Because I have football coming up and it's pretty hot out..
Not sure, its not that strong as is if I'm not mistaken. I haven't payed much attention to it though.
Don't die mate.
:ohdear: That looks pretty scary. Hurricanes are usually not that bad when they reach me.
That was from hurricane Ike. It put the whole island under water for a day or two as the storm surge was deeper than their sea wall defense. That would put the water probably a food above your doorstep for all the houses on the bolivar peninsula (all the houses are on stilts) which doesn't have a sea wall which explains the first picture I posted. All the houses simply got washed away out to sea. Turned the island into Venice. [editline]11:12PM[/editline]
So when is this hurricane going to hit NY? Dont be a pussy Op. Ive lived through so many high catagory hurricanes here in mobile its not even funny. if your house is shit prepared, expect broken windows, surged electronics, etc. I wouldnt worry about it too much, seeing as you will be on the left side, which carries the weaker winds.
I live in Florida. Hurricane central. And category 3? It should be pretty bad, but not that bad.

I live in NC and I am very scared now Someone hold me :ohdear:
in florida hurricanes are just "extra-windy days"
I live just south of DC. Every time they've said there's going to be a hurricane coming through, it misses where I live entirely. Or dies before it gets to us. Or just splits in two. Or something ridiculous. In this case, they said it won't hit us. I'm screwed. On the plus side, if it does come near, I'm freakin' taking pictures for you guys. G'night, Facepunch. See you tomorrow!
I just took a plane and the pilot flew us in between fiona and earl basically. I feel like a badass even though the pilot is the badass in this case.
quick update before anything happens: Lots of rain 40 mph winds and a tree fell down. going to try and sleep now.
I've lived in Florida my whole life. Man up, hurricanes don't hurt nobody.
you assholes and your good weather
Lolno, Seattle has the shittiest weather.
I can't go visit my girlfriend for the 3 day weekend because of this damn hurricane.
I've lived in Florida my whole life. Man up, hurricanes don't hurt nobody.
Yeah only the flying debris, floods, and falling trees hurt people.
Shit............... I'd hate the whole hurricane yoke!
God damn Maine. Nothing ever fucking cool happens. Never any tornado's, Hurricanes, ETC.
Hey everybody, reporting in from the beautiful land of North Carolina. I am can see Earl on the far far horizon.. I can smell it... I am currently fearing it. They say it won't be so bad but that doesn't stop me from being freaked out. But anyway here is the point of the thread: If this OP gets snipped at around 7'oclock Eastern time tomorrow, I will be fine and live to post again. But if this thread remains the way it is... I might be in trouble. :tinfoil: I wish you all the best of luck on all your future endeavors, and until we meet again... stay frosty my friends. And I won't be replying until tomorrow in the earliest.
Badass. :v:
I'm not going into Queens NY tomorrow because the storm is coming. It's gonna be crazy.
Why?, what the hell ever happens here?.
