Drachenfest/ConQuest - The Great Expedition - Or Why You Wont Need To Play Any MMO Ever Again.

I go to Swordcraft in Melbourne. Basically this except it only gets around 200 people (it's every week, though).

I'll be travelling to Germany again next year (didn't time it for Drachenfest this year) so hopefully I'll be able to go. Know a few people who have been.
Not gonna lie, this looks really cool. Wish I had the money for this stuff. Maybe I can go next year or something. Where do you guys buy the armor and stuff for this? I'd like to just start buying stuff slowly over time and maybe go next year or something. I would prefer stuff that's functional in addition to being awesome.
I'd so join the orcs and carry a WAAAAGHH! banner around.
I want in.
Man that looks awesome
Looks extremely expensive and awkward.
Only cool things are the costumes.
If you have a group of friends whos into this kind of stuff I bet it would be a cool experience and not as awkward
The costumes look awesome but it's definitely not for me.
The combat stuff IMO would just be frustrating, since you're not really supposed to actually hurt each other you can't really treat it like a battle or a competition...
Seems like the sort of thing I might be interested in if I had the money. In the videos, the people who haven't got masses of money to spend on costumes and such really stand out. There was one girl who seemed to be just in her normal clothes during the battle.

Pretty much. Especially mages running around shouting spells, oh god.
I'm wondering how people get there on a plane with pointy shaped objects.

I heard it depends on the airline.
Also they aren't really pointy if they're well made.

You swing weapons as hard as you want, they are like 1 mm of foam in a wood/pvc interior.
German seriousness put to good use.
I loled though at one of the videos, pretty much all warhammer themed then bam, roman legionaries outta nowhere.
Combat system looks incredibly awkward but maybe someone can actually explain it? Can you actually hit hard?
Combat system looks incredibly awkward but maybe someone can actually explain it? Can you actually hit hard?
Yeah you can hit will full force until a ref or a player tells you its to hard. Most of them are pretty flexible with the hitting forces.
When I am rich, I will build a 30 foot dragon robot that can walk and has a huge fire-hose-power water cannon in it's mouth that can knock people over from 10ft.
And I will take it to Drachenfest.
So cool.
My nerdy side geeks out when I read shit like this.
I'd probably be the sneaky motherfucker who slices throats from behind enemy lines. Ain't no way they'd be able to get up from that.
Yep, I can see myself sneaking to the orc camp in the middle of the night and fuckin some shit up. Steal their weapons or whatnot.
man I'd love to play this after chewing up a few shrooms, it'd be crazy
Id love to go to this. Sneak off to an orc camp for some cross race bredding ;D
only concern is not knowing the language, so i wouldnt know whats going on :<
and whether or not you have to supply your own gear

Pretty sure you have to have all your own gear. Which, depending on what you want, can be either really cheap or really expensive.
i feel like a neckbeard just reading this thread
If by equipment you mean two daggers and make sure to never fight anyone who knows where you are, yes.
Alas, I'm too poor to even travel over there.

I told my girlfriend about this and she says it sounds pretty awesome.
I've always wanted to larp, but I've never tried.

Yes, they're using a children's playground as a pirate ship.

Ditto. I'd take a massive bass drum and just pound on it during the entire battle.
After reading through the website, I'm more than compelled to participate. Oh god oh god oh god
Fuck that I'd get a voice distorter and build a set of Chaos armour
Me and a friend (at least) are probably attending next year.
Money's a bitch.
Lightning Bolt! Lightning Bolt! Lightning Bolt!
