It sucked. Plot was predictable and boring. Animation was awful.
What bugs me is how weak the ultramarines seemed. Their equipment seemed plasticy, their armour weak and so on. They hype them as the ultimate warriors but they really don't show much of that. They seem more like stereotypic macho guys in big suits. Big plastic armour that doesn't weigh anything and seems kinda useless anyways.
I haven't seen it yet, but it was against chaos marines. Bolters are basically mini-rocket launchers, which would explain why the armour would seem weak. It would seem to not weigh anything because it is a powered suit and space marines are superhuman.
Still, i haven't seen the movie yet so am not sure exactly what you are talking about.
I really hope this movie doesn't sabotage the chances of somebody making another, better WH40K movie.
I've just watched it.
I loved it. Maybe because my standards weren't high to begin with. I feel as if Block's comment was exaggerated. I know it is his own opinion but I hardly recognize any of the points he said. Except that the plot was quite predictable.
Spoiler: [sp]I honestly didn't see the Captain being the Demon coming.[/sp]
So yes, I enjoyed it. I wouldn't watch it again though.
A bit rubbish is an undersatement, their faces barely even move.
It's because they are wearing helmets.
Ehh, [sp]it throws in a demon too.[/sp]
[sp]A demon?[/sp] Just one? Damn.
What doesn't make sense is that according to the graphic novel, Ultima Squad was rotated straight from Scouts to a Tactical Squad, that just doesn't happen, they're ruoted through Devestator and Assault squads first.
Sean Pertwee was also the only one who i felt had a voice even close to that of a Space Marine, while the voices were good, they just didn't fit, well, except for maybe John Hurt.
the CGI really is terrible.
Horrid Movie
It was... okay. The action was cool, CGI was terrible. I really hope someday they make a full-on WH40k movie that isn't terrible CGI.
Also the plot was completely predictable.
it's a big pile of shitty shit shit.
The bridge was awesome though.
But yeah major criticism - the marine acted like a bunch of PDF boys by the way they acted, throwing flack at the apothecary the entire time. Throwing flack at him for being the only one with a brain.
There was utterly and completely no weight to the animations.
The voices themselves were awesome. The only problem is that they were too soft and quit. When you see SM's you just expect bellowing voices.
Damnit GW - if you want a good CGI movie have someone decent do it - like Blur.
I enjoyed it. I think the goal is not go in thinking this will be the best movie ever.
The WH40k theme makes it pretty epic to begin with but you can't expect the best; it is a pretty low budget movie. The money they expect to make from this is probably minuscule seeing how much they invested into it.
Now Iron Sky. Thats a movie I have high expectations for.
Ignore this post if you haven't watched the movie or don't want to be spoiled.
There were some good scenes, the [sp]double twist[/sp] was kinda cool [sp]the captain that fell off killing the daemon turns out to be alive and then we find out he has been tainted by chaos[/sp]
But I disliked how most of the movie was anticipation. The ending was kind of [sp]dissapointing. When Proteus takes the warhammer to kill the now daemon Severus he just stood there while his face got smashed. I was hoping for at least a final epic battle[/sp]
The gore was nice but the fights were mostly disappointing too. [sp]It was just shots of the squad shooting and watching the chaos space marines fall. There also wasn't a main known enemy. We just get thrown random enemies, not including the double twist[/sp]
To summarize, The movie itself was okay, but very disappointing.

I was expecting the fights to be something like the [sp]Dawn of War 2 Cinematic Trailer[/sp]

Terrence Stamp and John Hurt? Sure the facial animation is ugly, but you have to admit, it has talent.
Sadly, only John Hurt and Sean Pertwee really fit with their voices, at least coming close to what they're supposed to sound like.
Most of you pirated it, now stop pretending to want your money back
I wasn't surprised at the quality of the animation considering it was done by the same people who made the bionicle movie.
It wasn't bad, its just the CGI was utter shit, and the plot wasn't the best.
The major let down with the cGI was, imo, the faces, other than that it was decent enough except for a few small parts
they should make a Gaunt's Ghosts movie, that could be pretty awesome
being made by the guys who made bionicle it really reminds me of bionicle
[editline]11th January 2011[/editline]
especially how animations move slow and then right towards the end speeds up really really fast
they should make a Gaunt's Ghosts movie, that could be pretty awesome
Done live action, and in a Band of Brother Style, something like that would be fucking incredible.
Just finished watching this, it wasn't as bad as i expected.
Other then a few small things - The marines being too light, and there only being [sp] 12 marines on an entire ship, and they couldn't delay the countdown[/sp] i thought it was alright.
