I don't know how to ride a bike or tie my shoes, and math is the death of me, but I'm glad that I've been able to dig into history and biology books. Oh and that I can do my own laundry if the need arises :v:
Cooking is easy, boiled down it consists of cutting, mixing, pouring and waiting.
Seriously though OP if you want practical skills then go out and get them. Book knowledge also isnt that bad so long as you can apply it to something. [editline]18th May 2014[/editline] For example if you want to learn how to cook then you can do anything from volunteer at the homeless shelter to taking classes about it.

It's funny. I feel the exact opposite. I doubt my intelligence all the time. To paraphrase Steven Fry, It feels like there's a tiny voice in my head constantly telling me how much of a dumbfuck I really am. I never got to graduate High School due to circumstances that were out of my control, but it still affects me pretty much every day. Then, when I lost my job a little over a year ago, that really took a toll on my over-all self-esteem. I know a lot of these things are things that I just can't control, but it still doesn't help me feel like I'm even a little intelligent. My friends and my parents tell me all the time that I'm smart, but I just hard to believe them whenever I can't recall a good chunk of the shit I apparently learned during my school career. Some days I'll feel like I'm at least as smart as they say I am, and other days, I feel like a total dunce. I just can't help myself.
Hook a computer up to the internet
Just curious; do you mean the process of connecting a PC to a modem or router, or slightly more advanced things like manually assigning an address and a gateway? And about the washing machine, what you're actually wondering is which kind of fabrics should be washed together, and which shouldn't?

I doubt myself to the point of looking up the simplest tasks on the internet before doing them, even if it's something I've done right a dozen times before. On the plus side I get really good at looking up how to do things, which is useful for the stuff I don't already know.
Ive been called a history dork by a college class teacher, and know more than some of my teachers, and im only 15

I guess in the present world its better off being street smart . Being book smart is not going to take you places unless of course you want to go the research route ..
You have the rest of your life to learn those things. Don't doubt yourself, and especially don't doubt your capability to learn the things you need to get by.
Outta curiosity OP, what's your highest level of education?
Not knowing how to do things doesn't make you dumb. Not caring to learn does.
