I want to bang Peebee right in her peepee
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JWsfg1f.jpg[/thumb] oh god those proportions
Those animations are awful.
just saying, but i do like they went with the girl as their main focus for the protagonist instead of the guy, it differentiates it from the last trilogy
Except Femshep is the canon protag? Honestly though, why does it matter whether the protag is male or female in a space-military sci-fi game? It's blatant pandering at this point.
It does nothing to advance the story, in fact it's worse than that because it wastes time in a situation where time is extremely limited. Mass Effect ended with Shepard saying he'd find a way to stop the Reapers, Mass Effect 2 has Shepard dicking about like the Reapers aren't a threat and worrying about a handful of colonies being abducted. I hate to seem callous here, but the lives of the few thousand who die at the hands of the Collectors aren't worth the same as the lives of literally everyone in the galaxy. Mass Effect 2 is a great expansion of the Mass Effect universe, but it was completely detrimental to the Mass Effect story.
I still love Mass effect 2 but I did slowly come to the conclusion as others have that Mass Effect 2 isn't relevant to the main plot. I honestly wonder if they should have gotten you to play as someone different to Shepard and that the ending should have involved you helping to revive Shepard to deal with the Reapers. I was under the impression that unlike KoTOR there is no canon gender for Shepard.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JWsfg1f.jpg[/thumb] oh god those proportions
I took it into photoshop to check the actual proportions, is the guy supposed to be 5'4ft tall or something? He's 7 heads tall, which is about the age of a 14 year old.

Technically: Mark Meer's (MaleShep) dialogue lines are what the animations and dialogue timing are based on, not Jennifer Hale's (most obvious in ME1 (see "big stupid jellyfish" delivery) but also noticeable in the other games).
Wouldn't that be 6 and a half heads tall, since the feet don't add to the height beyond the heel?
Wouldn't that be 6 and a half heads tall, since the feet don't add to the height beyond the heel?
It would have to be, because from what I remember of Art in my Leaving Cert the human head is supposed to fit seven times into the body for the average adult. And you are correct that feet don't add anything beyond the heel. If we wanted to objectively see how the proportions are, we'd need a direct in front view of the figure against a wall.
The perspective of that image is ridiculous. The way the camera is angled he should be just looking up into the air.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/QYd2jme.png[/t]
To be fair, this is an old picture. Bioware has recognized the problems and has attempted to fix the proportions for both male and female ryder. Left is the newer fixed Ryder, right is the old. At least he looks less like a midget now. For the curious, the changes to the female: [t]https://i.imgur.com/B68OI7P.png[/t] Also the angles are a lot less fucky in the newer shots.
I don't think it had anything to do with proportions, just a fucked up camera perspective.
Why does this video have a really irritating scanline overlay?
I remember when Bioware was a byword for quality. I miss those simpler times... Mass Effect 3 killed the entire franchise for me. Since beating ME3, I've not felt the urge to play any of the mass effect games ever. Up til that point, I'd replayed ME1 maybe 8 times, ME2 maybe 15 times, but ME3? One play was all I needed. I'll never stop being mad about ME3. It ruined my favorite franchise, and I'll always carry that resentment for Bioware.
they should've stuck with unreal engine and not this frostbite engine, the characters looks like plastic and really bad. [editline]1st March 2017[/editline] and those facial animations...
at least we can be thankful Casey Hudson isn't on this project. He totally George Lucas'd the ME story. And yes I agree, Mass Effect 2's story was stupid, but it's strength was in its amazing characters and relationships, not to mention at the time the graphics were pretty damn impressive

This exact feeling is why I'm likely going to get this game. I'm not going to pre-order it, and I'm probably not going to get it for ages after release because I'm definitely not going to pay full price for it, but I know eventually I'm going to have to buy it. Because I love Mass Effect, and yet Mass Effect 3 completely tainted the series for me. I used to do another complete run of mass effect one and two every few months in the years leading up to the third game, but since 3 was released I haven't successfully beaten any game in the series. Because every mission I play, every character I talk to, every bit of lore I hear, I can't help but think "None of this fucking mattered in the end". A good example, When I spared that alien queen on Noveria, I used to wonder how this decision would effect the fate of the galaxy at large- It's just not the same now that I know it just reskins a boss in two games time. And that's why I want to play Andromeda, So I can relive that feeling of playing a Mass Effect game for the first time, without knowing [sp] for sure [/sp] that the entire series just culminates in an unsatisfying mess.
I don't understand this obsession with putting like, TV and movie actors behind voice acting roles in video games. What's the point? Half of the time they deliver terrible performances since they're not familiar with the medium, and how much weigh is the name of the actor gonna carry if the character looks nothing like them? It's near universally a money sink.
I was about to say "New Vegas did it pretty well" but while the TV and movie voice acted characters were very well done, a lot of the generic voice actors used all over for generally less important characters were... Not very good. I remember in particular how the general of the NCR army, the final boss and last character you interact with in some runs uses one of those voice actors and his delivery is really flat and lacking in passion. The original Mass Effect trilogy actually did it pretty well, as mentioned earlier in the thread.

But even then, New Vegas blows many modern rpg's out of the water due to it's world building and writing. AAA devs like Bioware don't have an excuse.
Absolute trainwreck incoming. But that's natural for Bioware.
And it will still make
these issues are so easy to fix like they don't even require steps you'd literally watch it 1 time after rendering/playing the scene and instantly know the issue, and it takes like 1 second to adjust the character just slightly to make them aligned. these are issues you would find before rendering/playing the scene these are "MINOR" issues that are enough to fix that it kind of shows the bigger picture when you think about it. If they can't deal with minor things like this, how many major issues go unnoticed? As usual? it shows that this is going to be yet another AAA game that was rushed out and had no effort put into it. Just another shitty title that they wanted to make as quickly as possible with no attention to anything. If the OFFICIAL trailers and footage looks this shit, which is supposed to show you how well made a product is, you can bet the product is screwed up. I can only hope that the gameplay itself isn't as awful as this. Hopefully they didn't fuck it all up. This is like a vacuum commercial that tells you how powerful a vacuum is by showing someone using it and having to go over a mess sloppily 2-4 times just to clean it.
-snip- I'm just hyped for the inevitable CrowbCat video about this game.
I don't get all the hate ME2 got recently. It's a great game all around, even if it's not 100% faithful to the spirit of the first game. But it still expands on its universe, and it does it really really well.
I've always hated it. Also for a game that is praised for characters there sure are a lot of boring characters that aren't memorable. Does anyone remember anything about Jacob, Mornith, Grunt, or Thane outside of quests?

reminder bioware is advertising sex scenes when they cant get basic animations working
One thing that always gets me about the writing is, even when it's really good, you still have stuff like... why are aliens naming stuff after things in the bible. The bible is a human only thing. Why did the Batarians name them the Leviathans. What. WHAT.

Afterlife I can handle, as it can be passed off as an auto-translate. Purgatory however...
While resorting to ANCIENT EVIL as the antagonist of a sci-fi series and calling them after greek/judeo-christian myths is as lazy as it gets, I'd like to point out that things being called afterlife or purgatory does make sense in universe, due to how the translators work. The translators use a database built and conceived by linguists of this specific species, designed specifically for inter-species dialog. It's such common practice that even batarians, an isolationist and xenophobic species, are still willing to provide these despite being practically closed to all outside contact. Those databases having equivalences and synonyms for such generic concepts as purgatory and the afterlife is not exactly out of the question. It doesn't mean those two nightclubs are literally called that for everyone who goes there and looks at the big fat holographic billboards.
