You gotta wonder how Avatar managed to avoid being milked.
Did... Did you not hear about Legend of Korra?
Did... Did you not hear about Legend of Korra?
That... that wasn't milking.
It was indeed milking.
That... that wasn't milking.
It was originally supposed to be a mini-series of about six episodes that turned into four seasons. I'm not gonna say it was milked but with that in mind I could see someone coming to a conclusion like that.
I don't think I ever saw that episode. I always thought the last one was that two hour long special "Destination Imagination."
It was part of a marathon of new episodes. IIRC it was after Destination Imagination.
This is generally just a Nostalgic Cartoon Thread now. Back on the topic, I see no reason why the Fairly OddParents should still be running. This show has done nothing to influence the animation industry like long-running shows like SpongeBob and the Simpsons.

We can talk about when Spongebob used to be good and how *cartoon* went off the air to soon or how it overstayed its welcome. If there is enough interest I may make the thread or someone else can.
I am still open to making the thread if need be. I just don't want to make it if there isn't enough interest and have it die in a few days.
You know after this depressed me I sat down and watched the 3 Jimmy Timmy power hour specials that they aired The idea that they clashed a show about science and magic to make something pretty fun makes me miss the old cartoons that used to air. I remember when Cartoon Network did this huge cross-show promotion called INVADED that went between 5 of the shows ending with a finale on the Grim Adventures.
my theory is that it's been in this sweet spot where it's just profitable enough to not tempt the executives to cancel it and exactly the right amount of mediocre to avoid attracting either a fandom or a hatedom.
Which is a shame cause it was my jam. I remember staying up to 8PM to watch a half hour of Fairly OddParents on Nick almost every day in 2005. It's kinda how I discovered Avatar The Last Airbender, so I've got this to thank for that.
I am still open to making the thread if need be. I just don't want to make it if there isn't enough interest and have it die in a few days.
I'd love to see a Western equivalent to Fast Anime.
my theory is that it's been in this sweet spot where it's just profitable enough to not tempt the executives to cancel it and exactly the right amount of mediocre to avoid attracting either a fandom or a hatedom.
It's less mediocre now and just plain shitake. Nobody's a semblance of who they used to be, there's now a magic babe and dog to cause ~wAcKy~ shenanigans, everybody except Timmy and co. are gone, and now Chloe. This is not the show I remember.
I'd love to see a Western equivalent to Fast Anime.
I guess I can make it. Would it go into Fast Threads or General Discussion? I don't make threads that often. "Western Animation Discussion & Nostalgia Thread V1: Jumping The Shark"
It's funny because I was about to say that the show just got their Cousin Oliver, but then I realized they just got their third
Sorry to burst everyone's bubble but a thread like the one you're all suggesting already exists.

It hasn't been updated since March last year and it's mostly about new cartoons. There's still plenty reason to start a Cartoon Nostalgia thread.
I guess I can make it. Would it go into Fast Threads or General Discussion? I don't make threads that often. "Western Animation Discussion & Nostalgia Thread V1: Jumping The Shark"
I'd be totally down for participating in this. A general thread would help.
https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1504060&p=49647689#post49647689 Here you go everyone. Have fun. Just move all this Cartoon talk over there.
What?? Can I get an episode name on that, I want to check it out
Sure here you go http://fairlyoddparents.wikia.com/wiki/Timmy's_Secret_Wish!
But doesn't that contradict the episode Channel Chasers where we know that Timmy Ages, and his two kids have Cosmo and Wanda as their fairies?
I actually haven't seen the new episode just read about it, and I don't remember a lot from Channel Chasers, but in this new episode they fix everything at the end, so that future part of Channel Chasers could be after the fix
Most of Nickelodeon's shows need a mercy killing, a few years ago Nickelodeon was the shit with Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Oddparents, and Spongebob, then at some point it all when went into a nosedive and Cartoon Network started showing somewhat decent shows like Adventure Time, Clone Wars, and Regular Show along with a few new shows on Adult Swim including the upcoming revival of Samurai Jack.
i think its kinda fair to say that CN hasn't really had much of a dramatic downfall apart from that CN real bullshit back in 09, they've always been pretty strong
i think its kinda fair to say that CN hasn't really had much of a dramatic downfall apart from that CN real bullshit back in 09, they've always been pretty strong
Well, there was the short lived live action era but other than that there was/is always something decent on CN.
Well, there was the short lived live action era but other than that there was/is always something decent on CN.
that's what i meant by CN Real, their dumb attempt to be like the MTV of cartoons and make live action shit, of course it didn't end well and resulted in major backlash I've never really found a cartoon on CN to be genuinely really terrible, maybe some [as] shows, sure but for the most part they've always been pretty strong Nickelodeon on the other hand is just getting progressively worse, you'd think by now they would have struck gold like CN and Disney in making a show that gets a cult following but they haven't. Nick has the ability to lean with live action because they were doing it before they were called Nick (Pinwheel) but even that shit has been fucking garbage I think honestly the only thing that has Nick running is nogalistia for old shows and Nick Jr. which is still favoured amongst preschools and some education departments
What people hated most about CN after the ATHF bomb scare (generally considered to be the network's lowest point) was how it was run. Didn't necessarily mean all the programming was shit, just that the person in charge was an idiot.
I've never really found a cartoon on CN to be genuinely really terrible, maybe some [as] shows, sure but for the most part they've always been pretty strong
Johnny Test exists though (and mostly because of that one Canadian law)
Johnny Test exists though (and mostly because of that one Canadian law)
Johnny Test was cancelled in 2014, but they still show reruns.
Johnny Test was cancelled in 2014, but they still show reruns.
As far as I'm aware of, just on Boomerang though and not on the main Cartoon Network.
As far as I'm aware of, just on Boomerang though and not on the main Cartoon Network.
Teen Titans Go plays on Boomerang too and I'm pretty sure that's still on-going. They basically turned Boomerang into a second CN that occasionally plays old cartoons too. It sucks.
Probably because kids didn't want to watch the same six episodes of the flinstones every day for a week they cycled through content really slowly on that channel, man
They do daily repeats. I'll see an episode of Tom and Jerry in the morning before I head to work, and then I come home at night and the same episode's on again.
