I hate those fucking shows about ppl buying a house. Who gives a flying fuck about them buying a sodding house fuck fucking fuck
Thanks for pointing that out for me. :eng99:
Sad to say, I do not have high hops for the future of television. :rimshot:
Some of you mentioned a few shows that you still enjoy, I'm not aware of these shows since I'm in Australia. Here we pretty much watch everything Americans watch, but alot of that stuff is on cable TV. I have cable TV, not sure how cable TV works in America, but in Australia once you sign up you get a bunch of channels with it (obviously), but alot of the channels with good shows don't come with the standard bunch, you gotta pay extra for them. Also some of the shows mentioned I haven't even heard of. Dexter and LOST are shown here, tried Dexter, couldn't get into it and I used to be into LOST until they started dragging on the show it became a little boring for me - sorry to the LOST fans. But infact everyone here got tired of it, LOST isn't shown on regular hours anymore since it lost alot of ratings (no pun intended). I'm a fan of Mythbusters but I think I've seen every episode. I agree with you there QwetySecond, your explanation seems to make sense. So from what I'm hearing sounds like there are wacthable shows, but just that I think the couch potato's in front of the TV have now gotten up. The hey-day of the TV has passed in my opinion.
There's never anything good on tv anymore.
I rather download the seasons and watch them after eachother, If you are intrested in 1 show, why wait a day or even a week for the next episode , if you can just download the next episode for 350mb , No commercials, and i use less electricity because i don't have to switch on the television.
Reality TV :smithicide: 'Nuff said Some of it is funny as in "WATCH TWO HOES FIGHT IN A MUDPIT OVER A $5 GIFT CARD TO SOME PRESTIGIOUS PLACE" but most of it is trash.
Futurama is back on the air (and its still good) also some shows on SyFy (or Space if you live in Canada) like Stargate Universe or Doctor Who are fun to watch.
Channels I watch. Discovery (Bom de adda) Discovery Science Comedy Central for Futurama And Daily/Colbert
I haven't had anything aside from basic programming for a few months now; can't say I honestly miss (Cable)TV.
I watch older shows from American stations like TV Land, and occasionally the History Channel/Discovery Channel, but that's it. I do watch Futurama or the old episodes of Spongebob when they're on though, and if I'm lucky, old episodes of The Simpsons or King of the Hill. But I agree. Recent shows have had a distinct drop in quality.
In regards to Futurama, as brought up in your first post, OP, I just recently watched the first episode of the new season and was severely let down. It may require some time to restore it's charm and quality, however it seems as if it's going the way of "Spongebob" as well.
I myself, too, rarely watch TV anymore. Television programming is overall very poor in terms of quality. (then again, this is someone who thought spongebob sucked when it came out.) I mean, there's hardly anything interesting or worthwhile I watch. The only channels I actually watch are Animal Planet (rarely) Food network (generally good quality shows) HGTV (sometimes stuff on there is interesting) Discovery (Mythbusters. Do I need to say more?) Travel channel (No Reservations, other awesome stuff I can't recall at the moment) History (Top Shot, Pawn Stars, some other things) That's about it, and the obnoxiously loud commercials are a bonus turn-off for me. (Dammit, why isn't there a decibel limit on commercials?) I don't give a damn how badly you want my attention, advertising people, you're just plain not getting it. Overall, that's why I mostly stopped watching Television. Lack of quality for the most part, commercials for the rest of it.

TV is not in a decline you are too lazy to actually find any good TV shows so you sit there and watch garbage. House Breaking Bad Lost Dexter Burn Notice The Wire Traffic Curb your Enthusiasm I'm guessing you weren't born around the 80's so you never saw any of the garbage on back then you only saw the good shows which they reran today.
I have to agree with the OP, the only shows I enjoy watching anymore are The IT Crowd, Doctor who, House, The Big Bang Theory and Futurama.
I only watch old cartoons, Pawn Stars, Whale Wars, and some other shows that are interesting enough to pass the time.
I think now there making good tv extra (HBO/Show Case)since it's cheaper to make carp and people with brains have to pay for good tv
Burn Notice and Psych make up for it.
Anybody who does not watch Dexter really needs to start watching it. It can take some people a bit to get into it, so I ask all of you who haven't watched it to watch the first 3 episodes of season 1 to see if it's the show for you. Watch all 4 seasons before September when Dexter returns.
I gotta say, Adventure Time is pretty damn good.
Television is slowly adapting to the new generation. Cartoons, MTV, Sit-Com's, etc. We won't have the same thing forever and while we thought Seinfeld was amazing, the modern kids and young teens probably have no idea what it is. Different strokes for different folks?

Different strokes for different folks?
That actually is what this is all about for the most part. I guarantee you most people on earth will say that they enjoyed the things they grew up with the most, and how all the new things just aren't as good as the old ones from their childhood. We'll tell our kids how our TV shows were the best, and they'll tell their kids how their TV shows were the best, and so on.
the only things I watch on tv now are football and local news [editline]03:22AM[/editline] and movies when they're on

How It's Made is one of my favorite shows. "Shut up, I'm about to learn how they make wing nuts!"
We need a TV channel run by the Internet. And I don't mean just that crap that shows viral videos, I mean, a network that accepts any good previously-cancelled shows, and will actually bring something other than shit to television.
I have just realised ... I have not watched TV in over a week.
