I think I'm going to buy a watch for my girlfriend as a birthday gift, any suggestion?
What kind of girl is she?
At the moment, I wear an iPod Nano (latest gen one) as a digital watch. :v:
I really want a pocket watch though, because they're cool and sexy.
How much should I be expecting to pay for one?
What kind of girl is she?
She's pretty and witty, she's the normal smart one who doesn't care about what everyone else but me is doing.

Activities wise. Does she hike, swim? Does she enjoy dressing formally? Favorite color? Does she enjoy simple or complex?

do not buy a pocket watch.
they're only even remotely practical to wear if you wear a waistcoat. i know only one person who wears a waistcoat and a pocket watch on a daily basis, who was one of my teachers in 2005(ish). the only other people i've seen with them is a couple of people who work at train stations.
if you buy and wear one, you'll just look a bit silly.
buy a nice wristwatch instead.

The Rolex Sea-Dweller, the best watch I have ever owned.
That's classy as fuck. Nothing overly flashy, very elegant, simple.

Blurry pic.. anyway got this watch 5 years ago from my sister as a present. Love it!
I used to have an analog watch but then it broke. Currently wearing a Shark Freestyle digital watch.
also inb4 someone says they have a golden expensive-as-fuck Rolex

Might as well tell a girl "fuck you" if you're gifting her a watch from DealExtreme

You can hook the chain to a belt loop and keep it in a pants pocket and it's indistinguishable from other chains worn in the same position. Alternatively you can keep it in your bag or something.
I have lots of watches but this is my current main watch, also its semi analog.

My parents gave me this watch on my 18th birthday:

It's fantastic. Not overcomplicated, not oversimplified. I love it.
I have this watch:

It works and it's not flashy so I like it.
Current (digital, omg don't flame)

I didn't know his budget, and they ship pretty much everywhere. That's why I went off that site.

Have a video. I'm probably beating a dead horse, but I'd like to see at least two more pages before the thread dies.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I know this isn't an analog watch at all, but it's still the coolest fucking watch I own.
It's called an Iron Samurai:

I saw someone with one of these on the bus the other day. It reminded me of this thread and I proceeded to stare at their wrist for the whole 45 minute journey trying to confirm it was the same watch.
i personally dislike electric watches, i like good old spring watches

This is the watch I usually wear, unless I'm wearing a vest in which case I wear my Colibri pocket watch.
I generally hate wristwatches but I always want to know the time and this one is functional and discrete.
I just picked up a nice fossil yesterday, bringing my total watch collection to at least 5 or 6.
I just inherited a watch but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is besides the fact its invicta, Is there anyplace I can go to get it identified?
I have this gorgeous watch:
[t]http://www.bussipreziosi.com/images/products/original/CH2514.jpg[/t]
I got it 3 or 4 years ago, but I only started wearing it last year when I started working. It's really heavy, but I love how easy it is to read. The best part is, the glass is blued and reflects sunlight very well, so I can use it like a mirror to blind people.

Shame is, one of the 2 straps that holds the band down broke so it falls out a lot now.
Getting this with nato strap. Also bump for quality classy thread.

Cheers for bumping it, completely missed this thread and I do love watches. And that NATO strap is a good choice!
Got this for myself earlier this year. Baume et Mercier Classima Executive Skeleton Holds time so much better than my other mechanicals. Loses a couple of seconds in a day. It ticks quite loudly because its very open and has sapphire crystal on both sides, but I love it. Powe reserve is decent too.

Might update the thread later with the rest of my collection, although that's my favourite piece.
What would be some nice minimalist-esque watches that are reasonably priced?
What would be some nice minimalist-esque watches that are reasonably priced?
What colors do you like? Waterproof? Price bracket?
Ahh nothing is more classier yet defining than a watch.
I own a few, this is my more dressy watch, it's a citzen and i love the thing. Pity i don't get to wear it more. It also gave me probably one of the best photo's i've taken.
