im not talking about competitive gaming, im talking about gaming as a whole, obviously when i say ignore them, im saying why the fuck would they make you mad, or anyone mad? ignore them as a whole, beyond this thread. there's no reason to be such a negative dick towards girls that have done nothing wrong and i cant believe i have to clarify this last one! when i say by nature, i am clearly saying most clans only have men because most gamers that would be interested in clans are men, or beyond that most women are discouraged from joining clans. used quotes around male only for a reason
I mean it can also apply to anything really, not just gaming. The world is full of bullies and mean people who feel bad about them selves so they rag on other people's differences and insecurities and crap. It's not a sexism thing, it's a bullying thing. I'm not mad, I'm just mildly annoyed. It's 1:23 on a Thursday morning and I have nothing better to do than discuss this crap. I am a pathetic human being, what do you expect from me?
This is video is slightly related: [editline]6th June 2013[/editline] Basicly, making gender among gamers an issue at all is bad. We shouldn't refer to gamers as either "male gamers" or "Female gamers", nor have groups for either imo. It just further divides us based on differences rather than grouping us for what we all love: Gaming.
most clans are "male only" by nature, are they not
pls join my clan "We're Guy Gamers (Deal W/ It)" exclusive male-only clan to show girls that guys can game too; and just as well! (and since ive created it ive actually gained several female members. how dare they)

I think that sexism is indeed an important issue that needs to be discussed. I'm just saying that putting people into separate groups based on gender is counterproductive.
so what divides us is the idea of creating a community where people who feel divided can be a part of something, but not actually misogyny or racism yeah that makes a lot of sense thanks for posting that morgan freeman vid live premier right here on fp studioes
I'm not suggesting to drop it at all. I think that sexism is indeed an important issue that needs to be discussed. I'm just saying that putting people into separate groups based on gender is counterproductive.
people already separate them on their own. female gamers grouping together makes them stronger and will encourage more women to play games. to say "we shouldnt refer to female gamers as female gamers" is to say these sorts of groups should be disbanded and that they are part of the problem when in fact they are the solution you cannot discuss sexism if you don't recognize both sexes.

Sexism is a big deal. What gender you are isn't.

[editline]6th June 2013[/editline] beyond that being bullied because of something you cannot change is far worse than being bullied for something you can
people already separate them on their own. female gamers grouping together makes them stronger and will encourage more women to play games. to say "we shouldnt refer to female gamers as female gamers" is to say these sorts of groups should be disbanded and that they are part of the problem when in fact they are the solution you cannot discuss sexism if you don't recognize both sexes.
What's wrong with just accepting all gamers as gamers rather than dividing them up as "Girl gamers" and "Guy gamers"?
Groups against sexism I have no problem with, but groups that only accept females do nothing but further divide the community. Sexism is a big deal. What gender you are isn't.
maybe groups that only accept females exist to compensate for the fact that there are plenty of groups who will only accept males to say this adds on to the sexism is wack because they wouldnt exist if it wasnt for the sexism in the first place, the only possible negative would be the backlash from either sexist or misguided people. black scholarships wouldnt exist if it werent for scholarships overwhelmingly favouring white people
Groups against sexism I have no problem with, but groups that only accept females do nothing but further divide the community. Sexism is a big deal.
What's wrong with just accepting all gamers as gamers rather than dividing them up as "Girl gamers" and "Guy gamers"?
nothings wrong with it its just not a reality and it doesnt change anything to say so
maybe groups that only accept females exist to compensate for the fact that there are plenty of groups who will only accept males to say this adds on to the sexism is wack because they wouldnt exist if it wasnt for the sexism in the first place, the only possible negative would be the backlash from either sexist or misguided people. black scholarships wouldnt exist if it werent for scholarships overwhelmingly favouring white people
"Well, they did it first!" Isn't what I would call a reasonable excuse to exclude others from a group. Maybe that's just my personal belief.
What's wrong with just accepting all gamers as gamers rather than dividing them up as "Girl gamers" and "Guy gamers"?
well you don't have to refer to them as that at all times, but when we are discussing gender in the gaming community it's necessary, of course, and beyond that, for females, a minority in said community, it gives them something to be a part of. Again, it's really no different than a clan for gay people, or even a clan for people that like smoked cheese. it allows for a friendly group with a centralized focus and ultimately holds no negative effects on any other clan. i can't see how its in any way a problem. it's no coincidence girls never complain about guys "flaunting their gender".
you totally do not understand the premise of female only gaming groups, and frankly i don't see how what people a group chooses to allow in and does not has any negative effect on the gaming community at large?
When we stay separate from each other, how are we supposed to understand each other?
"Well, they did it first!" Isn't what I would call a reasonable excuse to exclude others from a group. Maybe that's just my personal belief.
did what first? we are talking about minority and majorities. also, you may have a different definition of accept. beyond all of that you are entirely missing tpains point [editline]6th June 2013[/editline]
When we stay separate from each other, how are we supposed to understand each other?
just because you are not in the same clan as someone does not mean you cannot talk to them... and it's not like you can only belong to one group at a time. use some common sense here
"Well, they did it first!" Isn't what I would call a reasonable excuse to exclude others from a group. Maybe that's just my personal belief.
uh thats not what i said good job its not "they did it first" its "well they are excluding us so we should create our own groups so we dont feel left out" your personal beliefs are cool and all but we live in a pragmatic society
for example these girls choose to only have girls on their team but it's not like they are kicking people out of their stream for being guys, or refuse to participate in tournaments with men, etc, etc, never play with men outside of LoL, whatever
just because you are not in the same clan as someone does not mean you cannot talk to them... and it's not like you can only belong to one group at a time. use some common sense here

uh thats not what i said good job its not "they did it first" its "well they are excluding us so we should create our own groups so we dont feel left out" your personal beliefs are cool and all but we live in a pragmatic society
But when they are creating groups that excludes males, you are doing the same damn thing the first group was doing. It's literally sexist. [editline]6th June 2013[/editline]
for example these girls choose to only have girls on their team but it's not like they are kicking people out of their stream for being guys, or refuse to participate in tournaments with men, etc, etc, never play with men outside of LoL, whatever
Just like how some male only groups don't do that with females???
are you just going to completely concede on the fact this does not stop discussion? females excluded from all clans/teams = males excluded from one small minority of clans/teams?
But when they are creating groups that excludes males, you are doing the same damn thing the first group was doing. It's literally sexist.
thats ok you should still try to understand it from their viewpoint and try to see that its not about excluding males for a negative reason, rather its being inclusive of females as a response to exclusion by the wider community you can say "its literally sexist" but whats the point of doing that except winning e-arguments
are you just going to completely concede on the fact this does not stop discussion? females excluded from all clans/teams = males excluded from one small minority of clans/teams?
Just because females are most commonly discriminated against, does NOT make it okay to discriminate against males. [editline]6th June 2013[/editline]
thats ok you should still try to understand it from their viewpoint and try to see that its not about excluding males for a negative reason, rather its being inclusive of females as a response to exclusion by the wider community you can say "its literally sexist" but whats the point of doing that except winning e-arguments
I totally agree with the groups cause, but I think they are going about it in the wrong way.
i personally dont feel exclusion, even with the existence of these "sexist groups", yet plenty of girls i know do feel exclusion because they have to deal with this shit forced upon them when they even slightly reveal they arent androgynous robots
im sure you, as a man, know exactly what women want and the ways by which they should go about getting it [editline]6th June 2013[/editline] it's like wanting to enter a retirement home when you're 21. it's not for you, it's for people that need it, and yes they need it and yes it helps them. you have nothing to gain from joining such a group
im sure you, as a man, know exactly what women want and the ways by which they should go about getting it
are we really having this discussion revolving around an e-sports clan backed by companies that make these advertisements strictly to make money off of this clan? like they give a fuck what women want. they barely give a fuck what the members of the clan want. give me a fucking break
are we really having this discussion revolving around an e-sports clan backed by companies that make these advertisements strictly to make money off of this clan? like they give a fuck what women want. they barely give a fuck what the members of the clan want. give me a fucking break
we are not discussing the group in the OP, so no, we are not "really having" said discussion
i personally dont feel exclusion, even with the existence of these "sexist groups", yet plenty of girls i know do feel exclusion because they have to deal with this shit forced upon them when they even slightly reveal they arent androgynous robots
It's a matter of principle.
im sure you, as a man, know exactly what women want and the ways by which they should go about getting it
Yeah how dare I share my opinion on a forum whose sole existence is to share opinions
it's like wanting to enter a retirement home when you're 21. it's not for you, it's for people that need it, and yes they need it and yes it helps them. you have nothing to gain from joining such a group
But should that group really deny peoples entry because they have nothing to gain from said group? Thats just silly.
we are talking about all female groups as a whole [editline]6th June 2013[/editline]
It's a matter of principle. Thats just silly.
you never shared your opinion on what they should do lol it doesn't make sense. why would you join a group you have no connection to? do you know why they don't let men in those groups, beyond that? because the whole purpose is to create a safer group for women where they dont have to worry about men fucking with them what so ever, and where they can share experiences that you as a man could not have
