10% of the players of League of Legends are female
A very small percentage of those people become/are pro players who go to tournaments and stuff, and even less of those players make it to large tournaments.
Teams don't turn away female players; there just aren't many pro-level female players in the first place.

It really shouldn't matter that they're an all-female team. Why should they get more attention than others?
Does being an female team make them better than others? Obviously not, but it does get them more attention for their streams where they try to make money.
It's an attention grab, and that's why people are upset.

the poiint being made VERY clearly earlier by tpain is that many groups that are primarily male exclude males purely by the nature of the fact the group members are primarily male. they do not literally prohibit women but their behavior and attitude is extremely discouraging. not allowing men into a female group stops that sort of negativity from entering the group in the first place.

This really isn't that hard to grasp. To say female exclusive groups are okay, is to say sexism is at least part of the time, okay. Female exclusive groups discriminate against males by not allowing their entry, which by very fucking definition is sexist.

Just because its not as common, does not make it okay. This female only team is obviously an attempt at a public rep boost by Riot. They've been doing this shit for god knows how long with the "esports" scene. If this wasn't actually officially brought up by Riot, and it was a third party video made by the team itself, then it would be fine.
Riot is a company, and companies need to make money to survive. With the sort of recent targeting of the video game industry by radical feminists Riot has taken advantage of this and cashed in on it. I wouldn't be surprised if their player numbers actually notably increased from it.

i understand that 90% of LoL players are male and this group is special because it is comprised of a minority but boasting that as their selling point instead of their skill at the game speaks to me that they are, despite how you might feel, doing it for the wrong reasons
they are women, yes, and they are a minority in the LoL community, yes, but if they end up sucking in the professional league then neither of those things matter in the slightest and more to the point, don't matter if they win either
edit: if they [I]do[/I] perform well, what people are going to take from that is "women can be good at League of Legends too" but nobody was disputing that claim beforehand and it doesn't matter in relations to the actual playing of the game so it's a completely moot point; them being good at LoL doesn't make them 'women who are good at LoL', it makes them 'good LoL players who are women', the difference being that their gender has nothing to do with their skill
