[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/5B78jar.jpg[/img_thumb] My old college friends and I went on an Airbnb trip up near the Delaware river about 1 week ago. Came back on Hawk's nest. Lots of bikers that day.
Are those cameras wired or wireless? Also you got a link?
They're wired, I trust that way more. It's a Swann unit; http://www.bestbuy.com/site/swann-4-channel-4-camera-indoor-outdoor-dvr-surveillance-system-white/4518112.p?skuId=4518112 Swann seems to have a lot of nice features that makes them seem "legit", so that's why I went with them. That's in comparison to some of the wireless ones like the Arlo cameras, etc. Those just seem more.. "consumer"? I still need to get it hooked up to my phone for remote viewing, but I have a 3 router setup with one in the garage right along with the DVR unit, so the internet is there and ready to go.. just need to get it set. Also need to build all that business into a lock box so a thief doesn't just break in, steal the DVR, and steal everything else, too, lol.

I have a 4 channel bunker hill DVR but the cameras are pretty much shit. I have had far sharper image on it but that was testing another camera and I couldn't keep it. If those Swann cameras are a decent price I'll just get a set of them. Today's car stuff includes: Sealing large portions of the roomies RV prepping for the coming shit rainy weather forecasted for Wednesday night into next week-ish. Then I fixed a gremlin in my rear driver door lock motor mechanism, it's been buggy for some time now but last night it started making dread inducing gear grinding noises. Works normal now, just needed an adjustment. Last, was fixing a Ford Raptor powerwheel for my friends daughters. Reverse wouldn't work, it was a switch. Those kids are happy as hell now.
Put the corrected airflow sensor back in the car. Turned it over and it's never run better, that was the mystery fix. Gonna burn off this beer and take it out later, life is good.
Anyone feel like helping find a part? For a 1995-1999 Subaru Legacy. Rear cup holder, for a black interior. About 99% came with an ash tray. A cup holder is not even listed in the parts catalog. Mine came with the cupholder, but is broken. Out of the dozens I have seen, only one cupholder was complete, but in a car that was for sale. Trying to convince him to swap for an ashtray, no luck yet. These were mostly on high trim models. IE the GT and Outback Limited. I have tried eBay and such. They have whole consoles, though all have broken cupholders. Edit; Picture (not mine, my car is never that gross) [t]http://i.imgur.com/bGZ9rtB.jpg[/t] Mine is missing the bottom plate. Has been since i bought the car. Every one i have found is the same way.

When parked it runs like a sewing machine, perfect all up and down the rev range, throttle response like a two ounce trigger. I take it out on the road and it bogs down, the throttle response disappears, you hold the gas on one spot and the thing surges up and down, and if you give it any serious go juice it goes nowhere and has a minor backfire. Pull over, put it in neutral and it feels like a completely different engine again. What is this? Bad throttle position sensor, clogged injectors, ignition timing is off? Every time i think i have it sorted it sprouts a new problem

Just left it apart because I almost never had passengers in the rear seats.

I haven't been able to find a broken one to pull a part number from :( As soon as they break, people seem to toss them. I don't plan to use it often. I mainly want it to continue restoring my car. 6k total in every variant were made, not many were loaded with every option, let alone still here after 18 years
I like hunting down rare/oddball options and putting them in my truck, kinda like a long-term scavenger hunt. Stuff like for 1998 only there was a woodgrain dash bezel that is a bitch to hunt down, or 1997 and 1998 they had agate interior with old style door panels, and there was an option to get infinity tweeters in them (hard to find the tweeter door panels PERIOD). Then some had lighted sun visors, or a rear view mirror with the temperature on it, never a truck with every single option though.

Consider things it would need "more" of to pull its own weight vs just to spin the engine when it's sitting. If it were TPS it would probably not snap well in neutral. Timing is a valid question if it's distributor and adjustable, so check with a timing light to make sure if it's suspect. Clogged injectors is very valid.

Planetary autos can have this issue if bearings become partially seized or if the bands that are supposed to be disengaged don't because of a hydraulic problem in the valve body. A friend of mine had an 01 Eleantra that was stuck in 2nd and 3rd because the torque converter shit the bed and dumped debris into the trans jamming up a bunch of the internals. Trilby, if it's an auto, you might do well to check the fluid and check for chunks or pieces that don't belong, that might give you some clues. As for timing and injectors, Clutch is 100% on the nose. An engine with poor fuel can run "great" while not being loaded down but as soon as it's asked to do work it'll fall on it's face.

Well my 5 day weekend was a bust. Absolutely none of the hardware stores sell either 8 gauge butt splices or step down butt splices, so I'm waiting on Amazon.
At this point, i pretty much have the rarest of rare US released Subaru's, with rare options.
How so?
Would anyone happen to know what the silver line with the plug on it is called? It connects to the ac compressor. This is on a '96 Geo Tracker. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ilTfqQO.jpg[/t]

[t]http://i.imgur.com/ilTfqQO.jpg[/t]
That is your low pressure air conditioner line. It carries a gaseous refrigerant/compressor oil mixture from the evaporator in your dashboard to the AC compressor inlet, so it can be compressed and then sent to the condenser to become liquid. Couldn't find anything about it online.
I dropped the Marquis off at a little ghetto muffle shop on my lunch break, to get true dual exhausts put on. Much to my surprise the owner/operator/secretary/muffler magic man calls me at at 4:55 to say it's done. It sounds great, and my butt dyno says it pulls a little harder. $425 out the door for parts and labor. If you're in Fort Worth, go to Phil's Muffler! This dude is great.

Including test models from late 1998, a bit under 6k total were made. ~1k were cloth, base models, no options at all. The other ~5k had leather, sunroof, etc. An unknown amount (no official numbers) were like mine and absolutely loaded. Wood interior trim, premium sound, everything heated (seats, mirrors, wipers, rear window), rear cup holder, sunroof fairing. I believe as few as 1k were ordered this way. The SVX, Impreza RS, etc were all produced in much larger numbers. Unless you break it down to specific colors, mine is one of the rarest models in the states.

I was just running it up and down it's range to try and get that inconsistant throttle behaviour it had on the road while watching the exposed airflow sensor. I managed to get it to show that misfire/backfire thing it did under serious load, and when it happened the airflow flap snapped down to zero. I think at least one piston ring or big end bearing is shot, and the excess resistance is just playing hell with the engine under the "right" circumstances. And here i don't have the tools or space to pull the motor out and apart myself in my little shed. I"m sure i could do it but i dont even have the space to pull the motor out of the car, let alone store it all. But uh, it's not running rich or lean anymore. So that's good. I can send for the injectors to be cleaned, but i feel that the problem was arbitrary/inconsistent enough to not be a fuel volume issue. I'll try advancing the timing some and get a more informed opinion on the health of the injectors. But i still feel like the most likely situation is some sort of bearing surface failing. Fingers crossed i guess.

On the off chance you do find one, if the interior is dark grey then i'll take the door panels too if they have the woodgrain on them. Interior will look like this, but dark grey: [thumb]http://i432.photobucket.com/albums/qq42/GLHS592/1998 Dodge Ram SST/DSC00647.jpg[/thumb] I've only seen one in person, and it was the light grey one like the above, I dont even know if the dark grey leather interior exists to be honest. Today I learned that I am terrible with spraypaint
Today I learned that I am terrible with spraypaint
Takes time, skill and prepwork on the thing your painting.
Primer, lots of sanding, and patience. 90% of the end result will be determined by how well you sanded your primer coats. The final color coats should nicely sit on whatever you're painting and shouldn't need much sanding at all unless you do something stupid like get your fingerprints all over it. There are some great videos and articles about how to make your spraypaint look just as good as a powdercoat job. It's a skill like anything else but is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
I tried my hand at freehand rattlecanning my fender without masking anything off. Theres some overspray obviously but i think it looks better than last time i did it and ended up with a big ass paint line.
When you just want to do some small touch-ups and then your neighbour shows up to help a bit and then it ends up to more then just a touch-up [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/317567240688107522/319538704056320002/IMG_20170531_191754.jpg[/t] He will also help out with welding and painting and such :)
After half a year of work, it's back on it's wheels I'm also very sorry for anyone with Aussie internet I guess it's time for a real update. It's been a while since I've posted proper pictures instead shitty quality photo's even by 2005 webcam quality standards. I haven't had lots of time lately, hence why progress was kind of slow. But I'm all back at it again, so should be plenty of progress the coming month. (Disclaimer, all the body panels are still to be painted. However I want to wait until I've built everything so I don't have to modify any freshly painted body panels.) (Also I've probably posted lots of this already so excuse me for doubling up on the content) This is how the car stands as of today. There's been loads of progress. The biggest one obviously being the suspension. I've chosen to mount a complete E46 (M3) front suspension. Using a E46 M3 cup AST 4100 suspension setup. -E46 Wheelhubs -E46 Lower control arms (With E36 lolipops and exentric bushes) -E46 Tie rods -E46 330i sway bar with custom poly mounts -E46 Shortend sway bar links -E46 M3 suspension -E46 M3 Brakes and discs So what started out as a simple E46 lower control arm mod kind of turned into a crazy side project. I've also been busy on the back, everything has been sandblasted and powdercoated. Everything has been fitted with hard poly bushes. (95sHa in hardness) While I was at it I also installed a adjustable camber arm. (For the sharp eye, yes I still need to put plates between the rear-subframe bolts and bushes, and yes I need to clean up the tank straps :v:) After all this I got rid of the old dashboard. Well old...I've custom made it for this car and never even used it :v: I needed to use the original dash because I wanted to keep the original instrument cluster. That looked like this : Now I've came across a AIM datalogger in the meanwhile, together with a digital dashboard. And this offers everything I need -Revcounter -Shiftlights -Programmable warning (lights) for temp, oil, etc. -Datalogging -Possibility to keep track of fuel level And so, it had to go....It make room for a polyester dashboard. I had the polyester dashboard flocked. And the result is pretty great. (In some spots there's light shining thru, this is because I haven't closed the heater-core gap and the sun is shining right into the back of the dashboard. Probably forgot some stuff, but I guess ya'll will see plenty in the coming month. Next up : brakes!
Well I put on underwear today
