I'd love to see the build finished! Keep on going!
Well ideally as soon as i get paid from one of my clients, im ordering all the stuff from summit. Its just sitting in my cart. Then the moment it gets here i'm cancelling whatever day i have to to put the engine back together and put it in the car again. So thatll hopefully be very soon.
Oh my god I didn't know that happened?!? Sucks dude.. I hope it all sorts out easily enough, keep on trucking.
I remember the turbo slant seizing post, but I somehow missed the flood. That's pretty awful, dude, belated condolences. Still, glad that the engine isn't trashed. How much is it gonna cost to get it running again?
$320. Could be worse
man, that's awful. something about the painted turbo just looks amazing. good luck getting it sorted, and 320 definitely isn't as bad as it could have been, water is the worst.
Got the new alternator installed. No warning lights, so that is all good. Waiting for the distributor rotor to come in before I replace the spark plugs, wires, and redo the distributor. Next up would be brakes and diagnosing the idle surge. And putting back together the dash/fixing the speedo.
It's a long list but I'm making progress.
Well. I can't decide if I love my truck in the rain, or if I can't stand my truck in the rain. I didn't know a little four-cylinder was strong enough to spin its tires on wet pavement just be letting the clutch out too far. Good to know, I guess.
my truck will try to murder you in the rain
I took an on ramp sideways on Monday, my rear end started to step out half way up the ramp. Like I wasn't being particularly aggressive, but I let off the gas and it stepped right back in line.
I have no traction control no abs a wonky alignment hard off road tires and almost double stock hp
yall dont know shit about dangerous in the rain
crown vic with bald ass summer tires works preddy good in rain
and by good I mean sideways
I know yall have RWDs going on, but have a car with what amounts to bald tires in the front 180 lbs of tools in the trunk and try to start off up an inclined road in the rain.
You don't move unless you feather it. It doesn't help my transmission likes to randomly decide to just dump the clutch pack for first because the valve body needs cleaning. If it's not jerking my neck like it's trying to break it, it's trying to get me killed in an intersection.
Someone wanna donate 200 bucks for a rebuild kit?:s:
I recently took a trip to my auto parts store to grab stuff for wiring up some fog lights my cousin gave me. I usually bought the relay and wiring separate but noticed they either didn't stock the relay by itself anymore or were out of stock. I did see they had a nifty all in one kit though so I grabbed it and was on my way. Got home and started hook up the power wire and went to grab the relay when I noticed its a 4 pin relay.
So this kit wants me to wire them like this

What I'm wondering is if thats just as effective as wiring them how I previously have done

I know nothing of those fog lights or what kind of power they need. They look like old school kc lights but they could be knock offs for all I know. I doubt my cousin knows either. He probably got them from a swap meet or something

5 post relays and 4 post relays are basically the same save post 87a. 87a always has power and when tripped, 87 gets power and 87a shuts off.
If you wanted one light to always be on and use the switch to change which is on go for the second pic, otherwise hook it up as it says to.
If you want to go another route, nissans have a relay that is DPST, which is 2 30s and 2 87s (if going by 4 and 5 pole relay numbers)
Kinda like this:

So you could do this:

This is what it actually looks like:

It'll have the numbers and "schematic" on it so you know what is really what.

driving a truck is the same way but backwards. the weight is in the front and the power is in the back

Try driving a racecar in the rain, without ABS. In a race, when your friend swears it will stay dry so you start out on slicks.
slicks + rain = nope

if you think slicks are bad in the rain you've never driven on boggers

if its even a little slick out just give up dont even try
I find tires to be the biggest factor in rain issues. I've driven trucks in the rain and snow, but when they have winter tires or just new all seasons, it is much more manageable. Even with a Miata, I found my 6 year old all seasons, with probably 60% life left, were spinning on even slight inclines in the rain. It was really absurd. Once I got fresh all seasons, the difference was night and day. So as far as I'm concerned, you people just have shit tires, I don't care if you have 90/10 weight distribution and the power is where 10% of the weight is!
Anyway, my thoughts on my trip to Palmer Motorsports Park:
I really experience both extremes for emotions yesterday. The drive down to Palmer almost turned in to the day that wasn't meant to be. Randomly started overheating, lost time trying to cool down and see if the system would take more water/antifreeze. Got detoured my POS GPS, sending me through downtown Worcester and crazy back roads instead of keeping me on the highway...the drive there was the very definition of stressful.
But, like I said, BOTH extremes of emotions. Despite being late myself, the SCCA wasn't on time anyway, so it didn't really matter. The overheating issue only remained for the first session, but then magically and mysteriously stabilized. The track was FUCKING AMAZING, a true roller coaster of a ride, lots of high grip turns and demanding elevation changes. All the stress from earlier was completely undone.
The ride home was a bit rough as well, with my GPS making sure that it got the last laugh, sending me on yet another unpaved and rough as shit road. It did eventually lead me to the highway, but I could tell it was not the most efficient route!
Pics, should be some more soon, they had photographers on track:

Track pads love to dust. Although the low-speed noise is not bad at all, probably worse when cold though.

Is this that literally brand new track where motortrend did the huracan video? It looks amazing. Elevation changes on track are always awesome. If any of you guys get the chance you should come down to kentucky for a track day, our track is awesome.

here's a couple of videos that do a pretty good job of showing it off

Nope, but that track does have a similar track outline. You said that's in Kentucky? Palmer is in western Massachusetts.
Here's a video of a guy in a Miata doing great in a time trial (something I want to work up to, doing TTs):

190ft of elevation change, lots of blind crests and sweepers
Bit of a better angle in this one:

ah, no, the motortrend track and my 'local' track (the one in kentucky) are different, i was just saying that we have a good track here. that track looks great, very winding and a lot of really cool elevation changes, but wow it looks really narrow in parts
AN immaculate 92 Cadillac pulled up at my garage sale and everyone was trying to buy it from this little old lady who bought it brand new :v:
That car was fucking flawless, I've never seen one looking so nice

Classic, I used to have a 242 from 1976.
Awesome, my daily is a 1990 244! Love the two door versions though.
I would still like a 240 wagon one day.
