Speaking of tires, my friend drove his Toyota Avensis all winter on pretty much bald tires. It is a miracle he didn't crash, probably the traction control kept him on the road most of the times. There were a few times though when one friend with his Avensis went into a corner at 40km/h no problems and he started to slid out at 20km/h when he thought that something is really wrong and it might be the tires. Worn evenly though. Other things: I bought a Citroen C4 coupe a year ago for cheap (crashed, not an insurance crash etc.) and it had to get quite a bit of bodywork and an alignment done. New parts I think were the rear hatch, one rear light, front bumper, rear suspension. But now other issues have started to pop up when I drive with it. For example, my hood starts to wave at speeds over 100km/h. Looks like it is going to straight rip off the latch but seems to be secure otherwise. The airbag light keeps popping up, probably the wiring under the drivers seat being worn and the plugs have gone bad. My favourite 2 ones: The car was previously a learners car in a driving school (even though it is an automatic, mostly they teach you on a manual over here) and it has a button for rear parking sensors but they are gone, the passengers side has a button that disables ABS (some solenoid power switch) and the speed regulator is disabled and I don't know how.
Drove from NC to Michigan in the Leggy. Had to replace coil pack when i got here - running much better. Had alignment checked (free by father in law) It seems like someone, on purpose, set the alignment a bit odd. The rear was toed in 0.50 on each side, the front was toed out 0.25 on each side. Got it zeroed right where I wanted it, much better.
Last new year's eve I drove a 100km in an old Kadett on old bald tires. It was freezing and I almost slipped several times before even reaching the car. Still not sure how I am alive. The car didn't slide at all though.
This past winter I was waiting on my dad to come save the day since my stupid winter car Kia literally locked me out while it was running. He had tires down to the wear bars, maybe even a tiny bit lower, on his Hyundai Accent. It was during a snow storm, and he was wondering why he couldn't get up the hill not a 1/4 mile from home. So instead I waited for the cops to kindly come and break in to the car. Cheap bastard didn't even change his tires til last month.....I don't know how the car wasn't crashed in the winter or during all the rainy days before then. He doesn't believe in winter tires either, so I imagine many more problematic winters to come.
I'm so paranoid about my car locking behind me for some reason. Any time I step out of the car without the keys, I leave the door cracked or the window down enough that I can reach the lock.
My car's got a keypad. I never fear my keys being locked in. In fact, sometimes I leave the car running and lock the doors from outside so I can have air conditioning when I get back in.
I locked my keys in my car at work two weeks ago. I got roadside assistance with my insurance so I just got a locksmith for free. It did worry me that it took the guy literally 2 seconds to pop the lock though.
I've never locked my keys anywhere, and if I do I've got a hide a key

And sometimes not even honest people
Newer cars are a bit better about not locking once the keys are in the ignition. But Kias from the early 00s and earlier have these shitty, notoriously bad locks that are especially bad in the cold. The car was literally unlocked, but since I had first attempted to get in the driver's side, but failed since the lock was partially frozen or some shit, I got in the passenger side. I think I even unlocked the driver's side from inside to make sure it would unshit itself, but it still had its own plans. Closed the doors to prevent snow falling inside while I cleared it off the car, and the second I pulled the handle on the driver's side to get it, it locked all the doors like a piece of fucking shit. Again, while running (since I was running the defroster).
I only know of French cars or cars with shitty aftermarket central locking / security systems doing such shit.

finally went to a dyno to see what it's got and made more than i thought! of course all dynos read a little different and all that, but more importantly it let me know that something i put together works lol. had some issues with boost leaks in the past.
4 door, and two years before the popular bel air, you can probably get it for 3
i've heard of people paying that much for sheet metal shells. Sounds like the guy has some money into it, i doubt he could be haggled down by a third of the price.
'55s are desirable though, they're really popular gassers and people do all kinds of crazy cool customs with them. It's not a 2 door but honestly while 2 doors are cool I'd rather have 4 doors on my driver just for practicality. I have a coupe right now and going to the gun range is a fucking bitch.
Sure, you'd rather have a 4 door, but 98% of everyone in that market wants a coupe.

Like it won't react to the key, to the button, or even to pushing the little tab down or locking manually. The lock will just not move if the door is opened.
Found out my Leggy has a LSD in the rear. Not sure if installed by previous owner, or a very rare option. 96-99 models were listed as having no rear LSD. Mine, being an SUS, is loaded with options that normal models don't have.
Sure, you'd rather have a 4 door, but 98% of everyone in that market wants a coupe.
Exactly. Thats what makes the 4 door version of any classic car "worthless" except for the 67 lincoln continental. A 55 belair coupe would be worth something. The 4 door is its cheaper varient.
Sure, you'd rather have a 4 door, but 98% of everyone in that market wants a coupe.
Which is fine by me because I love 4-doors and would probably take one over a coupe in almost every instance.

eugh fuck me today was like ricer-central for cars, seriously every intersection and highway had one pass by Witnessed an Acura Integra on the highway, it had a fart-can exhaust which gave me an actual headache hearing it (you cannot believe how terrible it sounded), the body of it was in terrible condition and the wheels were just steelies, one of them being one of those really skinny spare wheels. Saw a dark blue mid 90s civic, it had stretched tires on extreme negative-camber white wheels that were too wide for the car, and a trunk spoiler pointed near vertical, also had a fart can Here's a good thing tho, saw one of those Nissan 300zx's which a beautifully done custom exhaust (sounded awesome) and had a turbo, you could hear the waste gate when he opened the throttle
So yesterday I drove around my drunk co-workers. At least I got to drive a sierra cosworth with 400+ hp.

is that the famous corkscrew or whatever it is called?
Does anyone still have those free Carfax reports? If so, would you be able to provide me one for the VIN below? WDB12602210005247 Its for a stick shift 1984 Mercedes 300SE that also happens to have cloth seats and manual crank windows.
is that the famous corkscrew or whatever it is called?
Correct! And that's me slowing down all the other drivers!
