Stront, your racecar sounds like a monster truck, I think you need to start over.
Stront, your racecar sounds like a monster truck, I think you need to start over.
Heh yeah no mufler... Waiting on the CNC shop to get me my stainless plates to link my stainless exhaust to the steel exhaust manifold.
All this crank sensor talk made me decide to clean mine. I didn't take it off, just degreased outside and cleaned connectors on both my crank and cam sensor. It seems to run smoother and not buck as much. I plan to pick up a few spares and try to take it off to clean it. They rarely go bad on Subaru's, but there are reports of them breaking when trying to remove them.
It's a 10 year old truck that's spent plenty of time through extreme Texas temperature changes. Is it likely that the imperfections stayed minor enough until stress built up over time for it to just give in? Makes me nervous about the rest of my glass... Anyway, here's a picture as promised. [img_thumb]https://imgur.com/yGhdtPi.jpg[/img_thumb] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_glass_breakage sounds plausible.
You thermal stressed the glass or you being in Houston with horrible roads and it being a tilt out rear window with only 3 mounting points it probably vibrated too. Shit happens. Keep your window cracked next time so the good ol texas heat can't build up inside the truck.
I had mine break and get jammed into the teeth that pass by it for the signal. Not really sure what happened, I was driving and the car started acting crazy. Got home and shut the car off, went to restart and no fire. Checked the code with my then new scanner and it said crank sensor. Pulled the harmonic balancer and the cover behind it to find the sensor smashed up. Good thing the junk yard I had been to the day before still had the last v6 there because the part ain't cheap. At least then, didn't know about rockauto yet.
One of my mates (fellow FP'r) swayed me to do some aesthetic mods to my 320i. Going to start with some nice LED tail lights.
"Nice mods" So how long untill you buy coil overs and some fat lipped wheels and lay her out.
Whens the 30cm wide fartcan gonna be installed?
"Nice mods" So how long untill you buy coil overs and some fat lipped wheels and lay her out.
None of that shit.. might change the front/rear bumpers (previous owner scuffs), as well as the lights, and maybe get rid of the runflats.

So I went down pretty hard on my Grom a week or so ago. Was riding on some country backroads, came over the crest of a hill while turning right at 40mph or so only to see a sharp decline with a decreasing radius sharp as shit turn near the bottom with a sharp drop off into a ravine on the outside edge. Straightened out and braked as much as I could before being forced to initiate the turn, if I continued just braking I would have definitely went flying off into the ravine at speed. Leaned so hard, I was scraping my boot and footpeg on the road, but was making it around the turn without too much of an issue. Was actually a fuckload of fun at that point. Unfortunately, halfway through or so, I hit a patch of gravel and lowsided, sliding about 100 feet into the ravine before coming to a half in a soft divot of high grass. Myself and the bike managed to miss a huge stump and other trees by a nutsack hair. My pants were shredded, but did their job, and I walked away with nothing but a small scrape on my left arm. The bike was fine mechanically, but the headlight assembly and front fender were toast, took a fuckload of 3m tape, zipties, and jerry rigging to keep everything from rattling off the front of the bike for the rest of the ride. Finally put the finishing touches on fixing her up on Friday, she's gorgeous again. I was planning on swapping out the headlight and fender anyways, this just expedited my plans by quite a bit. Just glad nothing was damaged mechanically. You can still see some scuffs on the fairing and the clutch lever pretty much had all the paint blasted off of it, but I don't see anything wrong with a few battle scars. Drove the 202 on the Kancamagus Highhway this weekend on a trip to VT. Very pretty stretch of road, lots of cool scenic spots to stop at even though it was raining pretty heavily at one point. This is probably my favorite car that I've owned at this point, such a pleasure to drive and maintain. [t]http://i.imgur.com/iawcAKv.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/25tFN5H.jpg[/t]
So i was trying to put my slant back together today. But the bearings summit sent me that were supposed to be .010 oversized mains and .020 oversized rod bearings, are wicked small. Not in oversize dimensions, just in general, like for a completely different tiny engine. Unfortunately all the listings for different bearings show those totally wrong bearings. The old bearings which are already the size needed, dont return any products when typing them in... The main bearings, i brought home two shells. On one side, one says 8/06 .010 (oversize) MB2001P and on the thrust shell it says 12-06 .010 MB2000p. None of those numbers appear to be a part number tho. The rod bearing i need says C614 AM 20(oversize). The shitty thing is i ordered these rod bearings a few months ago and replaced them. Now i cant find them at all. Just the wrong ones. Edit: theres about 3 different sets ive found, all containing different part numbers, but all basically made by clevite, along with the oversize numbers. This is rather frustrating.
Been a cool week for me. Wed-Fri, I worked a Ford tent at Barret Jackson Northeast, which was held at Mohegan Sun. [thumb]https://scontent.fbed1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-0/p180x540/19417287_10154609745072344_952117561706952187_o.jpg?oh=f52e177a4a11f3c8c3150cbcc0bcf240&oe=59DF1CFB[/thumb] Barely even felt like work. All I did was hang out and act as a navigator for the test drives, occasionally being the driver for some of the rides. While I'm still not converted in to being a true Ford fan, I found their new models to be consistent across the board, offering similar turning feel and turning radius, as well as similar braking feel. The tricked out F150 was the most impressive, only because it had light electronic steering, and was nimble enough to get through the NARROW "autocuise" course as I'll call it. It didn't feel like I was driving a big heavy and wide boat, made me appreciate trucks a tiny amount more. So help navigate and babysit the cars, all for $17/hr. Best gig I've ever had, gonna have to look in to more jobs like that. Saw a Mazda 787, one of my all time favorite racecars ever! I don't recognize the livery though, so I can't find much info on this particular car. Didn't see an info sheet in the window either.[thumb]https://scontent.fbed1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/19242963_10209919539452741_6642133557305844252_o.jpg?oh=fa861770aa515020d011c8461a5e9a0d&oe=5A0FFE54[/thumb] Sat I went to NHMS up in Loudon, NH for my 2nd time. This time it was dry, so I didn't spin and generally had amazing sessions. The one chink in my armor was discovering I was definitely consuming coolant. Had to keep refilling with water every couple hours. I didn't discover until later today that it's leaking from somewhere in the back of the engine, I can see the splatter marks on the trans bellhousing, as well as down along the sides. But I would never see any wet puddles under the car, so it seems like a funky slow leak, with running it hard accelerating it a bit. Anyway, it was one of those overheating issues that magically sorts itself out, so I carried on with all the sessions. The group/club I ran with is one of the local few that run time trials, and I have a feeling it will be in my close future to be signed off and run one with them! Sun I went up to Canaan Motorsports club, also here in NH, but a bit up North, and almost in Vermont. It was a track I autocrossed last year, and just recently (few weeks ago) ran a full trackday. But today was another autocross. So the trackday lines only carried over so much, the cones drastically changed some of the corners. It was also a shitshow in the morning, too many noobs and overly ambitious vets going off in their first runs, almost destroying the timing lights and almost hitting the timing trailer further down from the finish. My first run I even had very dusty/dirty tires, so I have an insane lack of grip for a good portion of the lap. Only got 6 runs, used to more from the same club. Still, I got enjoyment out of it, and learned camping out in a Miata doesn't work if it gets cold and you have no heavy layers :v:. Driver's name is Butch, he actually coached me for my first NHMS visit. He's quite the countryman-character. VERY fast, especially for an older dude.
here's one you yankees might not have seen before: [t]https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/609103686.jpg[/t] [t]https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/609103340.jpg[/t] this is a pre-1955 morris minor my dad just bought for 500 kiwibux. a beloved classic of british design, made by the same lad who gave us the mini. in classic british fashion, this car has a top speed of 107km and reaches 100km(~60mph) in 50+ seconds! finally I have met a car slower than my vauxhall victor. apologies for the bad photos, we've yet to pick it up, but I believe we're picking it up tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see what sort of shape it's in. apparently only rust in the bootlid, which is pretty damn good for british steel! :P
Update on the vibrating Sentra: Turned out it was the leftmost coil. Now it runs better than it did before the coil completely crapped out. There used to be a slight gurgling sound in the engine at lower RPMs before it totally failed I can't hear that sound anymore. I'm thinking about doing a full Rust-Oleum paint job properly this time. I'm getting a bit tired of the Steam logo hood, even ironically. I'll update you guys how the roll on Rust-Oleum job goes after I get it all sorted. I feel a mix of morbid curiosity for what's possible for about $50 I can't seem to decide on a color though
Installed the carbon roof and some windows today! What a absolute fucking nightmare :v: I had to put on the black edges myself.....which I'm NOT GOOD AT so that took a few tries
I almost did that on my CF Miata hardtop. I bought paint and everything, but I didn't see how it could work; paint the inside and I thought I'd risk messing up the WindoWeld from sticking good, paint the outside and it might ware off. So I just left it and told myself I'd eventually get a black vinyl strip for the outside. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/PhwH4ou.jpg[/thumb] Old pic of when I first installed the lexan window. Didn't want to rivet because I didn't know how the CF would hold up, and I never riveted before. But using WindoWeld was SUPER stressful, had to work very fast, and the shit started spreading on the top and interior quite quickly. It may have only taken 20-30mins, but it felt longer! The excess also had to be trimmed down, with some of it still remaining. It only annoys me though, I get nothing but compliments about the top.
