In that case make sure it's got the upgraded crankcase ventilation, and that oil changes have been done at around 10k kms. Otherwise you REALLY should drop the oil pan and check/clean the oil pickup, and then fit the updated ventilation and stick to the 10k interval.
Taking off the Rust-Oleum paint job was fun. I had done such a bad job with priming years ago that I literally just took a paint scraper and passed it under the paint.
Looked exactly like this

So, had my PT GT on jack stand since I was doing the head gasket, through some larger extra parts under the car. Well, 80mph winds happened.

Some days I just want to give up on working on cars.

if you're not actively working on it always stick the wheels back on
even if you just do 2 lugs its better than dropping your rotors on the pavement
Yeah, once I got it off the ground I chucked the wheel back on. Probably wont let my cars sit on jacks any more.
I'm so paranoid about shit like that happening when working on my car without a real lift that I always take safety precautions.
At minimum a spare steelie wheel under the front subframe so in case it tilts so it just rests on that instead.
got the morrie home a few days back, finally got to have a look at it. it's pretty fucked lol
pre-war flathead, absolutely covered in corrosion, lots of surface rust on the panels but nothing serious except the boot, but we're worried about the subframe, which we haven't really checked yet. spend today just coating the engine bay in degreaser and waterblasting.
next step is removing two broken sparkplugs the previous owner broke in the head. we got the other two out with a lot of impact driving, took a good 40 seconds before they started spinning. most everything in this engine is seized right down to the crank so we're gonna soak the cylinders in diesel tomorrow.

also I wasn't expecting the cylinders to be this tiny :v: sbc 350 piston for size comparison!

Hang the fuck up, is that the "first gen" Morris Minor with handcrank?

Garage is life
But what I want to know is how in the hell is the airbox all the way down there?

The post says he shoved some larger extra parts underneath the car. Presumably to keep them out of the sun.

yep!
I thought it was a series II until I saw the flathead :v: but yeah, either late series "lolight" with export guards or a early sII with a flathead. but yes, it's got the crank handle! I'm hoping we can unseize it so we can crank it over and start it with that for the vintage fun!
I'm doing that roll-on Rust-Oleum job again for my totaled daily driver. Hoping it turns out acceptable this time now that I'm using mineral spirits instead of acetone :v:
That high flash really fucked me over when I tried this last time

Mineral spirits dont give you much more time than acetone. Paint thinner gives you what you want. I tried the mineral spirits. It kept hardening in the pot.

I thought mineral spirits were called paint thinner
What is usually referred to when someone says "paint thinner"?

Paint thinner. As far as available on the shelf solvents theres Acetone, good for removing bondo and turning it back into goo to remove it fromcyour putty knives. Theres mineral spirits which are awesome at taking dried grout off tile. Acetone is a good general solvent that evaporates real fast. It should not be used as a thinner in something exposed to the atmosphere. Laquer thinner is good for cleaning paint guns and spray guns and taking spray paint off of stuff. Paint thinner is good for thinning oil based paint and varnish and making it flow together nicely.
I don't understand how a low miles used engine for my virago 250 costs ~550 dollars. I get that it's just a little 250 but the same size in a Yamaha 2 stroke sells for over twice that.
I am heavily considering swapping in a 2 stroke or turbo charging this 250. No other reason than why not.
What would you guys suggest? Buying a used engine and fabbing up some fucky turbo shit, or 2 stroke fury?

I don't mean to be an asshole, but why do you have a PT?
I honestly hate those goddamn things, and everyone I know who's ever driven one agrees.

It's a GT Cruiser, the hot hatch variant. Kind of a sleeper because nobody expects a PT Cruiser to have an awful lot of power.

It's still an ugly PT tho
Just close your eyes until you're inside
I'd rather have an old 90's corola, or my tercel and turn that into a sleeper. Nobody expects an early 90's economy toyota to be a sleeper.
Just close your eyes until you're inside
but even the inside isn't nice to look at

guess you just have to keep your eyes closed the entire time

The GT has plenty of power, drives great, and is ruthlessly practical. Looks are really a matter of taste. The GT at least has some better looks with body colored bumpers and the like.

It might just be me, but I've always thought it really, really stupid how Chrysler had a whole long run of putting an analog clock right over a digital clock, as if anyone ever reads the analog clock. Hell, most people in my generation legitimately don't know how to, which is probably equally as sad.

Not just that, but trying like hell to cram prestige into a shitbox econo car is really ignorant of chrysler.
The cup holders are too small, the window switches are in the worst possible place, the passenger "oh shit handle" being right in front of the passenger is effectively moot, the entire nose of the car is wildly too small to do any real work with out tearing the whole car apart every time you need to do any maintenance and all the plastic feels painfully cheap.
I get that Chrysler was trying to take cues from the prowler making the front that way, but it just ends up being a gimmick trying to pass as classy. Almost everyone I know hates them and anyone I know who owns or owned one said never again, however praised that aforementioned practicality.
PT loser and sneaker car are all that comes to mind when seeing or hearing about one of those things.
I can say for sure they are fast and handle pretty decent, but that doesn't take away the fact they are not really that reliable and tend to fail if you even so much as by a day slip keeping up on them.
My family owns a PT.
After you get over the looks, my main complaint with the cruiser is the damn turn radius. We can never seem to do a u-turn in our '03 like you can in other cars.

Yes, I will wholeheartedly agree that the turn radius is what the fuck huge. Especially on the GT. Our supercrew F-150 had a smaller turning circle.

I much prefer an analogue dial, far easier to understand in a rapid glance.

I don't give a shit about which type, as long as its consistent with the rest of the interior design and easy to read and set.
